How can I change the file creation date?

I recently downloaded more than 1,000 photos from my vacation. I'm preparing to burn DVDs for a friend, and I noticed that when I copy the photos to the desktop, they don't all have the same date. I have read a couple of discussions here about the difference between photo creation date and file creation date, and I understand the difference. But something seems odd to me.
For purposes of illustration, let's take two photos: "A" was taken with the camera in the landscape position (how one normally holds a point-and-shoot); "B" was taken with the camera held in the portrait position (rotated 90 degrees). The photos were taken on April 24, about three minutes apart, but not imported into iPhoto until May 19.
In iPhoto, both files show the actual creation date. Yay!
The problem is with the files after having been copied to the desktop.
When copied to the desktop, the info panel for photo "A" shows April 24 for both the "created" and "modified" dates. Photo "B," however, shows May 19 for the "created" and "modified" dates.
Apparently, when the "B-style" photos were imported into iPhoto, the app automatically rotated them so that they are viewed correctly (without having to turn your head sideways). This is a very nice feature, but the result is that the file date changes.
Is there any way to change this? I want the DVD to show the date the photo was created, not imported to iPhoto. Picky, I know … but I'm like that.

Correct.  Your camera has an Auto-Rotate feature. However, the camera does not actually rotate any pixels in the file, but instead flags it with an instruction: "Display me this way". This is a tag in the Exif metadata. When you import a file with this tag iPhoto creates a modified version. It does this because most of the apps that integrate with it -  email clients, word processors etc - simply don't understand this Exif tag. So if you used the shot in a word processing doc, uploaded it to many Web site etc, the shot would come out sideways.
iPhoto has nothing to say about File dates. There are various file utilities that will edit the dates on Files

for instance. But there are otheers, search on  MacUpdate

  • How can I change the file creation date through Labview 2012?

I want to change the format of the data stored in some text files, but I want the file dates to remain the same.  Currently, my program creates the files with new dates.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

LabVIEW to my knowledge doesn't have native functions to do this.
You can use .NET functions on Windows to get/set the CreationTime, LastWriteTime and LastAccessTime.
    See attached VI (LabVIEW 8.6)
Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T
If you don't hate time zones, you're not a real programmer.

  • How can I get the File Creation Date OR Last modification date of the incoming file in my message?

I need the Last Modification Date and the File creation date of the consumed file in my message, is it possible to do that using a custom pipeline component in decode stage or any other way? The FILE namespace have File creation time that actually gives
the time the file was dropped in receive location, not the actual creation time. Also this namespace doesn't have the Last Modification Date.

    Yes,
As per MSDN, "File.FileCreationTime" - "Defines the time that the file was written to the folder that is monitored by the File receive
    adapter."
So for File Modified DateTime, only option I can think of is create a custom file adapter (updating the File Adapter code from SDK ..\SDK\Samples\AdaptersDevelopment\File Adapter) and access the received file with the code something like the following, which
you give you the Last Modified date
    string sLastModifiedDate = File.GetLastWriteTime(path).ToString();
If there are any business requirements which drives you this, then this the only way I can think of. Because you can access the file properties only in adapter, when it passes through adapter file is handled as stream and you will only have context properties
to access the file related properties.
If you're looking for implement this for any audit purpose or for your any technical purpose, then you can suggest some alternate than using File updated datetime.

How can I change the file download time using Adobe Send? Adobe SendNow had a lot more options.I don't see nay with Adobe Send.

There isn't a feature in Adobe Send for setting and end-date for a file's availability. At any time, you can Unshare the file, however.

  • How can you determine a file creation date and know if it's been altered since the creation date

I need to know how to determine a file creation date on an ipad.  If someone creates a document/note on an ipad how can you tell when it was created and if it has been altered since?

Unless you are using a third party app that provides that functionality, in iOS the only thing youcan access is the last edit/save date and time, which is fairly evident in the user interface for documents and notes. Some apps that handle MS Office files may provide that, but ican't say first hand.

  • How can I change the file location under "Information"?

Somehow my iPod or computer generated a 2nd file named "music" within the existing file "music" where all my songs are stored. I don´t know why this happened and when I just discovered it today.
Now more than half of the songs are located under "c:\music\music". When I change this back on my computer using Explorer, i.e. move all files up one level under "c:\music" then my iPod administration gives me a failure notice for all these songs after the next synchronisation. When I check under "Information" of a song I´m told that the storage location of this song is "c:\music\music". So when I want to play that song I´m offered to search for the original which I do and puff.... the 2nd file "music" is created again and now the song is again stored under "c:\music\music".
I can change almost every entry under "Information" but not the storage location.
How can I change this back? I don´t want this! Do I have to be a slave of stupid Apple programming and keep this 2nd folder although I don´t want to have or use it?!
    Thanks for helping with this!

You can do this when exporting:
    File -> Export
Jpeg Quality refers to the amount of compression appied. Lower quality means smaller file size.
Size refers to the dimensions of the photo.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.

  • How can I change the bar color (data series) in a chart on the iPad version?

The number of different. colors used in a char (line, bar, pie, ...)  appears to be limited to six, quite short for my needs, however, Excel imported charts show up in the original colors (12)...  until I change the chart type (to get a homogenous look with the rest of the content) it gets changed to the 6 basic colors. Any clue on how to modify individual series colors? Note that I am asking about the iOS version.
    Thnx

Does any one know how you can adjust the font size (point size) for the file
    names.
Sadly enough you can't chance that, feel free to add a feature request for
that, the more there ask for the bigger chance it will be realized.
It would be great if the colors for the image name (background and font color)
could be changed so the contrast could also be increased so it is also easier
    to read.
And this the cheerful part, go to Bridge preferences General tap and play
with the sliders for user interface and Image Backdrop until your satisfied.
BTW using the slider for thumbnail size bottom right of the Bridge window to
increase the thumbs does not increase the font but makes it nevertheless a
    little clearer.

  • How can I change the file format in iTunes 11?

It seems the Convert to .. function which was available when right clicking a song is no longer there.  How can you convert an AAC to MP3 for instance?

    Assegai Guy,
It is still there but it looks a little different in iTunes 11.  The "Create New Version" command is now in the File menu instead of the Advanced menu.

  • How can I change the file name of an mp3 file to it's ID3 name?

I prefer to alter the ID3 names of my music files to include: ARTIST - Track number - Tune Name. I do this in iTunes, by individually selecting each file, and Apple+I, then change the INFO/NAME tag.
But the same file has a file name and an ID3 name then.
Is there any script or APP that will allow me to BATCH convert all music file names to the ID3 name?

    > (With above checked, when you add to iTunes, it makes a copy

    >further with the original)
Yes, how do you think they get there if I double click them in finder and list themselves and start playing in iTunes?
    > You are looking at the file in iTunes not the original file
    > (which is not in iTunes) correct?
I have talked about both if you will read the thread.
    > In iTunes, right click Show in Finder
Read the thread carefully, you are missing something.
    > Uncheck Keep iTunes media folder organized,
    > then click OK. Then go back and recheck it.
    Has no effect whatsoever.

  • How can I change the File-- Open menu item?

In Bridge CS4, I want an option to open a selected JPEG photo in Photoshop CS4, which I believe would be the File-->Open command.  However, in that menu item I only have the option of selecting ACDSee Pro to open a file with.
Is there a way to change this menu item so that I can select Photoshop CS4 to open a JPEG with?
    Thanks,
    John

Thanks John.  Go into the Windows Folder options and associating CS4 with JPEG fixed the problem.  In fact, when I do File-->Open now in Bridge CS4, all of my photo editors appear on the list.

Select (highlight) the file in Finder, click Get Info in the File menu (or use Command I), change Open With in the Get Info window. Click Change All if you want all PDF files to do the same.

  • How can I change the file version for scanned PDFs to 1.4 when using the "PDF from Scanner" feature from Acrobat XI? By default it's always saved as 1.5.

Because our IT system can only handle PDFs with versions up to 1.4, we need to "PDF from scanner" feature to store the scanned PDFs in version 1.4.
Acrobat 9 always saved it in 1.4, but starting with Acrobat X, the PDFs are saved in 1.5.
There must be a setting or configuration somewhere where I can change this.
I already tried modifying the distiller's standard joboptions, but that did not work.
    Thanks for any help

We use in our software an open-source pdf library that only supports pdf versions up to 1.4. I know it is old, but it's not that simple to exchange it.
But I just had a look into the Actions as you suggested. This way I get it to work. It costs one additional click, so that's acceptable.
    Thanks for the support.

  • How can I inventory the file name, date, size, type for all my CDs into a readable file on my iMac running Maverick?

I have many old CDs with files.  In order to organize and search them, I would like to make a searchable file listing all the documents on the CDs.  I once did this in DOS (it was a "list files" command).  Is there anyway to do it in OS X-- Maverick?  I thought Terminal would work, but what I've tried doesn't work.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  I am happy to purchase software that would do the work.

Oh yeah! Very similar to that one is Print Window. I use it all the time.
    http://www.printwindowapp.com
It costs $20 if you want all the extra features the free version doesn't have. But I've always used the free version. Nothing in the paid version I need.
