How can I change the folder path to my library

I just changed the file path to my locally stored music from C:\MyStuff\...\iPod Nano Music\... to C:\OneDrive\...\iPod Nano Music\...
Is there a way I can edit the path that Apple has locally stored to redirect iTunes to the new, correct location instead of (as I've had to do previously) deleting all the music files in iTunes and then adding each music folder back?
In Advanced Preferences the 'iTunes media folder location' shows as C:\Users\Mark\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media with an edit button. However this is not the location of all my music files (as indicated above).

If you want to move your media to a new path what you should do is edit the media folder preference in iTunes and then consolidate to that new path. Moving the media first by hand and then trying to fix iTunes is generally the wrong approach.
Your options are to move everything back where it came from, then consolidate to the new path, then delete the originals that iTunes leaves behind. Alternatively you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect the relocated media to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.

    I had creative cloud for a while. Today i changed the default installing folder, from the creative cloud settings/prefferences(can't remember) menu, from C to D. Then i uninstalled all the programs from adobe cs6 to take the new cc programs. When i want to reinstall adobe creative cloud it is installing on D and since there is no operating sistem on D i can't install the creative cloud. It keeps installing on D. How can i change the default path of installation if i uninstalled creative cloud?

    Or how can I change the prefered installation folder that can be changed from creative cloud menu/prefferences when i have uninstalled creative cloud?

  • How can I change the installation path  of JWS?

    I have to install the JRE 1.4.0_01 in silent mode on Windows XP. For the JRE I can set the installation path in the corresponding dialog and record it in an *.iss file. When starting the silent installation the JRE is correctly installed into this path but the Java Webstart installation procedure doesn't care about this path and installs JWS in 'D:\Programme\Java Web Start'.

  • HT201361 Is it possible to save the screenshot files to a different folder than desktop. How can I change the folder?

    Is it possible to save the screenshot files to a different folder than desktop (that is the default). How can I change the destination folder? Thank you, Sal

    To change the screenshot capture location to a new place on your Mac, first think of a location that would serve you properly. We like to place ours in a "Screenshot" folder located inside of the User's "Pictures" folder. To change the location to this new location, open the Terminal and enter the following command:
    defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/[u]/Pictures/Screenshots/
    Replace "[u]" with the name of the user on your system. Once you have entered this command, let's restart the screen capture utility by restarting the SystemUIServer by entering the following command:
    killall SystemUIServer
    You can optionally log out and back in instead of entering this second command, thus restarting the SystemUIServer. Once restarted, all screen captures taken from here on out will end up in your /Pictures/Screenshots/ folder in the User's home folder on your Mac.

  • How can i change the aspect ratio in Event Library?

    the videos i imported to iMovie from iMac look horizontally distorted. i took them with an iPhone4. when importing them, i chose 16:9 ratio, this may be the reason. i can not change the ratio to 3:2. Thanks.

    Hi likethis,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
    The iPhone 4 records at HD 720 p, so that is why your clips are distorted.

  • How can one change the Preferences path?

    Hello,
    I've recently discovered the Preferences API and try to learn how to use it but I'm stuck on a problem right now: Is the only place to store my keys/values inside the "JavaSoft/prefs" node?
    I have this piece of code so far:
         * The method used to store preference If no package is specified, the
         * current class' package will be used
         * @throws NullPointerException
         *                 If key or value is null.
         * @throws IllegalArgumentException
         *                 If key.length() exceeds MAX_KEY_LENGTH or if value.length
         *                 exceeds MAX_VALUE_LENGTH.
         * @throws IllegalStateException
         *                 If this node (or an ancestor) has been removed with the
         *                 removeNode() method.
         * @throws BackingStoreException
         *                 If this operation cannot be completed due to a failure in
         *                 the backing store, or inability to communicate with it.
        public void storePreference() throws IllegalArgumentException, NullPointerException, IllegalStateException,
             BackingStoreException
         // The node which will be used is the user specified one
         Preferences prefs = Preferences.userRoot().node(this.tree);
         //We add the listener here so that it is instantiated with the constructor
         prefs.addNodeChangeListener(this);
         prefs.addPreferenceChangeListener(this);
         prefs.put(this.keyName, this.keyValue);
         // Make sure the change is commit
         prefs.flush();
        }Where tree is the path (absolute) where to write data.
    The problem is, whatever the way I approach the thing, I always end in something like:
    |---+JavaSoft
    | |---+Prefs
    | |---MyNode: MyKeys / MyValues
    When I would like something like
    |---+JavaSoft
    | |---+Prefs
    |
    |---+MyApplicationName
    | |---+UserSettings
    | | |---Edvard: MyKeys / MyValues
    Hope I've been clear enough.
    Thanks in advance for helping.

    While you can't specify arbitary sub-trees and especially not a specific position in the Registry (as the previous posters noted), you should not use userRoot() to store your preferences, but rather use "userNodeForPackage(SomeClassFromYourApplication.class)".
    This way it will be ensured that your preferences nodes will not clash with those of other applications.

  • How can I change the folder where the Final Cut Pro X files?

    I've tried dragging it to the new destination, but the program doesn't seem to recognize the moving process and lost the thumbnails and the reference to the files. Is there any other way?

    Tom,
    Thank you for your fast answer.
    Not copying folders... well I did not copy folders, I copied 4 entire drives of 4 Tb. I don't imagine moving events and projects one by one with FCPX tools. Unless it is the only way but that will take me 4 days.
    Here is a screenshot of the root level of the Pegasus.
    No, i do not copy the media files in the event folders.
    Yes the Pegasus drive appears in FCP. I use it for actual new project with the media in specific folders for each project. Everything works fine.
    Playback is set to original media.

  • :-)  How can we change the default file path for Bank file ( dmee ) ?

    Hi All,
    We encounter a problem.
    Electronic bank file ( created after a F110 run ) are created, in an automatic way to the DIR_TEMP directory. ( On the SAP server )
    How can we change the default file path for Bank files ( dmee ) ?
    We'd like to specify another path.
    Thx for your help.
    Erwan

    Hello,
    Make sure that you have created the directory in transaction code AL11 with the help of basis consultants.
    You can link your PC directory to the application server.
    You can maintain the path whether your file needs to get saved in OBPM4 against your DMEE structure example GB_BACS etc.
    If you do not maintain any path in OBPM4, then the file gets saved to temporary directory. If you give the directory path name in OBPM4, then the file gets saved to that directory with numbers 0001, 0002, 0003 etc till it reaches 9999 and reset from the beginning.
    If you give the path as well as file name as ABCD, then the file gets generated to that directory folder with ABCD0001, ABCD0002, ABCD0003 etc. till it reaches ABCD9999 and reset from the beginning.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Regards,
    Ravi

  • How can I change the name of my home folder?

    Just got a new job. Yeah! Taken over former employees' iMac. I made myself Administrator, seem to be the only log in option. But, my home folder is still in the old guys name. How can I change the name on the Home folder without deleting it and loose all the files? CAN'T loose the files?  Help...
    Thanks

    Changing the existing home folder name is complicated. I recommend you NOT do that.
    Instead, create a new User with exactly the home folder name you want, and copy your files over to that new user. Once a few days have gone by trouble-free, and you are certain you have no issues, you can delete the old home folder.
    While on the subject of users, Some users prefer the peace-of-mind of using an "ordinary" user account, rather than an Admin account for daily use. This makes it much harder for anything to "sneak" onto your Mac, as you need to authenticate anything to be installed in system directories.
    To do this, create a new Admin user, log into it, and demote your daily-use account to a non-Admin user. When actively installing stuff, the Admin username and password will be requested.

    I just upgraded to a new MacBook and my wife is inheriting my old MacBook Air. How can I change the her MacBook Air to now be fundamentally hers? That is, so the House Icon under Users folder is her name and not mine? Also the default AppleID for purchase stubbernly remains my own.

    You do not mention it, but I will assume you are running OS 10.9.1.
    Go to: Apple menu / System Preferences / Users & Groups. Click the padlock and enter your password.
    Click the + (plus sign) and set up a new account for your wife. You have to enter a bunch of info. And then create the correct Login Options. Automatic login does not require a password from the selected user.
    When that is done, verify the account works by restarting the computer and login as your wife.
    Make sure that any applications in your own Users folder that will be needed are moved to the Applications folder in your wife's Users folder.
    Now go back to Users and Groups, click the padlock and authenticate, select your own account, and hit the - (minus sign). This step cannot be reversed, so you might want to wait a few days before doing it.
    When your wife is logged in, the App Store will know.

    how can i change the background colour of all old folder windows at once?

    There are, however, thousands of calendar apps available in the App Store. They use the same data that the built in app does. Perhaps one would better meet your needs.

  • How can I change the name of the imported folder.

    In FCPX, I create a library and create an event then I import media files (clips from an external hard drive) to the event. I choose to copy them to my Mac, not leave them in place.  If I select a folder on the external hard drive, it does not matter what the name of that folder is, FCP changes it to a date (apparently the date the files were last modified).  This is a crazy thing to do.  How can I keep the folder name or how can I change it after I import.  Thanks for anything you can say.  Mitch

    What version of FCP X? On Yosemite, you should be using at least 10.1.2, preferrably 10.1.4, the current version.
    Since 10.1.2, you select a location for the files in a Library - this is done in the Inspector. In the picture, I set to a folder called "The folder I choose".
    Then on import, you can decide to use the library location, or leave in place.
    FCP X organizes the files inside the library location folder in a specific way, similar to how they are organized when media is stored in the library itself.
    There is not much you can do about it, and you should not worry. But if you insist otherwise, the only way is to do the organizing yourself and use "leave in place" when importing.

    If the program does not open the last folder you visited you most likely have the option enabled to autoload Bridge on Startup.  Either disable that option  in PS or shut Bridge down before you shut off the computer.

    If you always want it to start on a specific folder you can leave it on autoload, go to folder you want it to start on then exit Bridge.  It should load this each time in future.  Many of us discourage the autoload option as it can lead to other problems as well.
