How can I change the name of the administrator that shows on Home Icon?

Hello
I've bought this laptop from a reliable source, went to the Apple Store (Regent St) with the box and they registered it in my name, address and so on. No problems, the mac works fine.
However, the Home/Icon and administrator is in the name of the old owner. Obviously, he gave me the password. But, I really want to have my name on it.
I've the box, the discs and all the books. Everything is in really good conditions.
I read the manuals, the instructions are straight forward but on the net and forum related mac, I can see that are lots of people having problems when they reboot and are unable to login and so on...
The genius bar at the Apple Store is okay, but the staff main objective is to sell and they are not very patient and neither have much time for you. Normally I end up leaving the store with software that I don't have a clue how to use and the problem unsolved. And it stresses me out.
Can someone help me please.
Thank you
Best regards

1. Yes, just the Shortname will be changed.
2. Not easier, but you can do that if you wish.
since I'm in the official Mac support forum should I expect to receive a reply from a Mac expert staff or it is unlikely to happen?
Just other Users here like you, trying to help other users. For a real Apple answer I think you have to call AppleCare, but rarely an Apple Host pops in... wouldn't expect it in this case though.
I do thank you for the info about your software and obviously will make a donation if everything works fine.
Not mine, but a worhy piece of SW just the same.

  • How can I change the administrator name?

    I'm getting ready to sell my old I-mac. How do I change the administrator name or delete it?

    Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
    Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
                  side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
                  sure to opt for that.
                   Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
                   startup drive.
    Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
              2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See.What to do with iCloud before selling your computer
    Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
                  Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
             Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
                       it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
                  on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
                  and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
    *If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. If this is not possible then simply erase the drive. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.

  • How can i change the user that open the rfc connection (sm58) from R/3?

    Hi all,
    i'd like to know how can i customize the user 'connecting' R/3 and BW, i mean: when i launch a data extraction a fixed user creates the rfc connection to BW (and i can see it from tcode sm58 in r/3), i need to use a different username so that it will come be more easy for me to reorganize the rfc queue in case of errors (we are doing some testing), it's possible to do something like this or everyone has to share the same user r/3 side?
    I hope i've been clear...
    thanks for the help
    S.

    Hi...
    Its recommended that only one user executes the RFC because you must manage the authorizations for remote execution only with few users....in case on error you can send the user as a parameter of the RFC  and you can buid the error message with this parameter and identify the user of execution...
    I hope this helps you

  • How can I change the image that's shown when you mouse-over a folder?

    Lightroom defaults to using the first image depending on how you sort and I can't find out how to change this. I know how to do it for stacks, but not for folders.

    If you're sorting- or could leave them sorted in by file name- changing the name of the first photo will get you there. Or changing the time stamp, etc.

  • How can i change the initials that the watch chooses for a friend ?

    for most of my friends the initials chosen by the iwatch make sense, but for some, particularly chinese friends the initials are not a good chouxe. How can i set my own initials for a friend. I don't see any field for that in the iphone contacts.

    There is no setting in iTunes that you can change for the location of the backup. You need to free space up on the C: drive. Whatever location you intended to put the backup at, move some of your other content. Generally pictures take up the most room. Move them from one of the libraries on the C: drive to an external drive or other media. Maybe even burn them to a CD/DVD and remove them from the computer.

  • How can I change the view in Show Page Source from one long line to a more readable view

    When using Develop --> Show Page Source in Safari 6.0.1 I get a view of the html that is just one long line. I can scroll along to the right but it is not very easy to use.
    It seems to me that when I first used this feature I had a formatted view, that is the text was broken into separate lines and was easier to read.
    But I think I clicked on something and it change to one line. I can't find a way to change it back.
    Is anyone familiar with this? Or can point me to more information about Show Page Source formatting?
    Thanks.

    Oh, I see the problem.
    The one long line view only occurs when I'm viewing a page locally on my own computer. (When I choose Show Page Source for any page on the internet the display is formatted normally.)
    So obviously if I want to see the code in my own files I can just go open them in the text editor. I used to use View Page Source (previous version of Safari) as a shortcut for a quick peek. If there is a solution to this formatting thing for local files I'd love to know it, otherwise I'll just put it on the you-can't-do-that-anymore list.

  • Reminders - how can I change the year that a task is due?

    If I want to put a due date on a task, I click on it then switch "Remind Me On A Day" to On. It then sets the reminder to today's day, and the next hour.
    If I want to set that date into the future, I tap on it and see four spinning "wheels" from which I can select the day/month, the hour, the minutes, and am/pm. But not the year.
    If I want to change the date of a task to the same date next year, I have to spin the date wheel through 365 dates. Is there a better way?

    You can go the calendar at the bottom and tap the arrow to the right to go through all of the months to get to the month that you want to set the reminder for. It's a little bit quicker than spinning the wheel.

  • How can I change the order that my songs are listed in?

    Hey. I am not sure what I did, but for some reason, my songs in iTunes are listed fro z-a rather than the other way around. How could I change this???

    It's just a matter of clicking/toggling the little triangle at the top of the list of songs. When it points up the songs are listed in standard alphabetical order; when the triangle points down, then they will become "the other way around".
    You probably just accidentally clicked the triangular toggle.

  • How can I change the Safari, App Store, iTunes, etc icons?

    I can change the icons on my folders and stuff, and I used LiteIcon to change the Finder, Dashboard and Trash icons but I can't change Safari icon in LiteIcon and I can't use the Get Info method either! Any help? Thank you

    For safari (for example), if its on your dock control click it and go to options > show in finder
    Control click safari there and from the drop down menu click "Get Info"
         Alternatives to this would be to hit command-i or the get info button underneath the icon
    With the window that pops up:
         Click the lock at the bottom to unlock it
         Go to the Sharing & Permission section
         Set all the users listed to "read and write"
    Now to copy the icon that you want to copy, go to the top of the get info window and click the safari icon
    to copy it push command-c
    to replace it push command-v after you have coppied another icon
    to get it back to its normal icon select the icon and push command-x
    You might have to quit and relaunch the app for it to work.

    Select Firefox (Top left) / Options/ Options / Main or General.
    There you can select the thing you whant firefox to do when it is started up. If you would like it to open www.google.com for instance, you have to paste that url (= www.google.com) into the space below.

    Thorsten Hi,
    Too complicated for me i will try to look on it.
    Also if you will have time later maybe you could look at it too ?
    For now what i tried was to get the returned 15 new Bitmaps to a local array:
    bitmaps = ImagesComparison.get_images_with_clouds(b1);
    for (int i = 0; i < bitmaps.Length; i++)
    ConvertTo1or8Bit.ColorToGrayscale(bitmaps[i]);
    break;
    Then make a convertion with a new class trying to convert the Bitmaps to 8 bit in the memory without saving them first to the hard disk. This is the new class:
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.Linq;
    using System.Text;
    using System.Threading.Tasks;
    using System.Drawing.Imaging;
    using System.Drawing;
    using System.IO;
    namespace mws
    class ConvertTo1or8Bit
    public ConvertTo1or8Bit()
    public static Bitmap ColorToGrayscale(Bitmap bmp)
    int w = bmp.Width,
    h = bmp.Height,
    r, ic, oc, bmpStride, outputStride, bytesPerPixel;
    PixelFormat pfIn = bmp.PixelFormat;
    ColorPalette palette;
    Bitmap output;
    BitmapData bmpData, outputData;
    //Create the new bitmap
    output = new Bitmap(w, h, PixelFormat.Format8bppIndexed);
    //Build a grayscale color Palette
    palette = output.Palette;
    for (int i = 0; i < 256; i++)
    Color tmp = Color.FromArgb(255, i, i, i);
    palette.Entries[i] = Color.FromArgb(255, i, i, i);
    output.Palette = palette;
    //No need to convert formats if already in 8 bit
    if (pfIn == PixelFormat.Format8bppIndexed)
    output = (Bitmap)bmp.Clone();
    //Make sure the palette is a grayscale palette and not some other
    //8-bit indexed palette
    output.Palette = palette;
    return output;
    //Get the number of bytes per pixel
    switch (pfIn)
    case PixelFormat.Format24bppRgb: bytesPerPixel = 3; break;
    case PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb: bytesPerPixel = 4; break;

    outputData = output.LockBits(new Rectangle(0, 0, w, h), ImageLockMode.WriteOnly,
    PixelFormat.Format8bppIndexed);
    bmpStride = bmpData.Stride;
    outputStride = outputData.Stride;

    byte* bmpPtr = (byte*)bmpData.Scan0.ToPointer(),
    outputPtr = (byte*)outputData.Scan0.ToPointer();
    if (bytesPerPixel == 3)
    //Convert the pixel to it's luminance using the formula:
    // L = .299*R + .587*G + .114*B
    //Note that ic is the input column and oc is the output column
    for (r = 0; r < h; r++)
    for (ic = oc = 0; oc < w; ic += 3, ++oc)
    outputPtr[r * outputStride + oc] = (byte)(int)
    (0.299f * bmpPtr[r * bmpStride + ic] +
    0.587f * bmpPtr[r * bmpStride + ic + 1] +
    0.114f * bmpPtr[r * bmpStride + ic + 2]);
    else //bytesPerPixel == 4
    //Convert the pixel to it's luminance using the formula:
    // L = alpha * (.299*R + .587*G + .114*B)
    //Note that ic is the input column and oc is the output column
    for (r = 0; r < h; r++)
    for (ic = oc = 0; oc < w; ic += 4, ++oc)
    outputPtr[r * outputStride + oc] = (byte)(int)
    ((bmpPtr[r * bmpStride + ic] / 255.0f) *
    (0.299f * bmpPtr[r * bmpStride + ic + 1] +
    0.587f * bmpPtr[r * bmpStride + ic + 2] +
    0.114f * bmpPtr[r * bmpStride + ic + 3]));
    //Unlock the images
    bmp.UnlockBits(bmpData);
    output.UnlockBits(outputData);
    return output;
    But they are still 32 bit. So i guess i didn't realy understand yet how to do it.
