You need to 'reverse engineer' them :
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

thanks. somehow after restoring it, ipod on my phone had another option to download them onto my phone (even though they would play so no idea) but then it allowed me to swipe the songs to delete them so they are finally gone from my phone!!!

How do I edit a merged clip in Audition, that was created in premiere to correct the synchronisation, and have it all updated to the premiere clip?
I have tried several tutorials but these either:
- show correction in premiere sequence (which is not practical; given the huge number of files we have)
- or show the editing in audition of a sequence, not the clip.
We have started merging audio and video (removing the original audio during merge) but some of the merged clips are out of sync, so we need to correct manually, BUT we want to correct the merged clip, which may or may not end up being used, so we do not want to take it to the sequence as all we are doing is prepare the synced files for editing.
Any idea how I can correct the synchronisation in Audition?, when I right click on clip and select "Edit in Adobe Audition" I get a list of files but not a multitrack session where I can see my video and audio tracks.

if premiere pro doesn't sync your footage properly, and you have a huge number of files, you may want to look at pluraleyes. there is a demo, and if it works properly, it would save you time to have it done right the first time, instead of tracking down random merged clips with bad sync.
premiere will either export a complete sequence or "edit clip in audition". the edit clip will create a copy of the original audio and open that in audition. there is no dynamic link, its just an audio file open in two programs at the same time. since there is no dynamic link, its not possible to bring merged clips into audition.

Once created, the merged clip cannot be re-synchronized, or adjusted. You must make a new merged clip.

this doesn't give me much hope that audition or any other adobe program outside of premiere will help you fix the problem merged clips.

Hi Folks,
When receiving a calendar item from Outlook 2013, I can accept it, but not edit it. When I receive the same item from Outlook 2003, I can accept AND edit.
How can I edit calendar items sent from Outlook 2013?
We are not using an Exchange server, simply sending the calendar items via email. We noticed this when we upgraded our office from MS Office 2003 to 2013.

Hey there,
One option is to change the songs starting time in iTunes. To change when a song starts and ends locate and highlight the song in iTunes. From there, right->click the song and choose "Get Info" from the Menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Options tab and in the middle of the window there are options to adjust the starting and ending times for that song or songs. When you are satisfied, go ahead and hit OK to apply the changes.
From there, sync the updates to your iPod.

Have you copied them from your old computer via one of the methods described on the page that you posted from ? Your music will only show on your new computer's iTunes library if you put it onto it, so you will either need to copy it from your old computer, from your backup of your library and add it via File > Add To Library, or (depending upon whether you are in a country where you can re-download music and if the music is still in the store) you might be able to re-download your purchases via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your new computer.

How do I edit an event on my mac that I accepted from outlook on a PC

My office creates calendar events/appointments on Outlook on a PC which then are emailed to me (I have an Iphone and a MacBook pro) which I then can accept. The problem is that I cannot edit them or make notes to myself.... I can only edit if they were created on a Mac. Any way to get around this?

Hard to say what is going on, but that is not normal. Try running repair disk from your software install DVD and then run repair permissions from your internal HD.

Ran Disk Utility, Techtool, Disk Warrior and then reinstalled Mountain Lion, updated it and repaired permissions. No change.
There is a file that says 'iTunes Library (damaged), which is the iTunes Database file. How can that file be re-created?
Any technical help on replacing that file with a new, fresh one would be appreciated!

It has always been very basic to maintain a backup of media and other important files. If you chose to reinstall the OS without having a backup, well that just is not smart.
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, iTunes purchases can be redownloaded via iCloud. Simply log into the iTunes store, select purchases, purchase history and redownload the content.
If you are not in the US.... well, seems you just learned and important and possibly expensive lesson.

I suspect your PhoneGap app was flagged as running on both iPad and iPhone. You'll need the same from DPS. You can do this in AppBuilder at the start of the wizard where it asks what kind of devices you want to support. Note that this is only available to DPS Professional and Enterprise customers. If you are a Creative Cloud customer building a Single Edition application it will only support iPad.

Depending on the content you may be asking for a lot. From within Acrobat the two options to do this are PDF Optimize or Reduce File Size. The location of these options vary among menus based on version. In some versions they are under the File>Save As options (AA XI). The PDF Optimize also has an audit that helps you determine the source of the bloat. If you used WORD to create the PDF, a first step in a smaller file size is to print to the Adobe PDF printer to avoid all the tagging and other markup. Of course, that is a compromise if you had wanted the bookmarks and all.

Actually, I need to alter the wording of a 14 page document sent to me by email as a pdf file. I figured that I should copy the document and paste it into a blank Page template (I remember doing similar in Word & was able to access document immediately) and begin to change wording etc. Sadly, I can do absolutely nothing to the document & the curser remains an arrow and not a texting tool. I've searched around for answers but nothing helps.

Word can open and convert .pdfs which will look different in Word but they are largely uneditable.
Adobe Acrobat Pro can do some in place editting.
Preview .app lets you open .pdfs and Copy, Paste text from them.

How can I edit an Address Book Distribution List that will not display in Lion?

The option to edit an Address Book Distribution List (to select preferred emails for certain contacts) only appears as light print and does not respond to selection. I have a number of Address Groups that display and funtion properly in Mail, but since installing Lion, the problem described occurs. Any fix? Thanks.

The key is that the Contact List is now being kept in the Cloud & you cannot edit the Distribution List in your Mac's Address Book.
The fix is:
Quit your Address Book
Go to  Menu --> Sys Preferences --> iCloud
Uncheck the CONTACTS icon
Close Sys Pref
Open Address Book - Edit your Distribution Lists (No longer Greyed out)
Quit Address Book
Go to  Menu --> Sys Preferences --> iCloud
Check the CONTACTS icon
You should be good to go!
