Since you're new to AE, you should start here. The resources linked there will give you the information you need as well as a solid foundation in how to use AE. If you neglect such a foundation, you will face a world of frustration.

  • How can I edit titles in iMovie on slideshows?

    Hi support community!
I'm in the process of creating a slideshow with subliminal affirmations for myself. I watched a video on how to do this but the video editor was for a PC. Windows Movie Player. How can I using iMovie add titles and change the length of time, position and transparency of the titles(affirmations)??
    Thanks!

Would have been useful to know what Mac you have, with what versions of OS X and iMovie.
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto (see this:  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2423 ), iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • How can I edit an iMovie project created on one machine on a different one?

I created an iMovie on one MacBook, and want a colleague to edit it.
I created a dropbox folder, moved all the files there; i can see them on the other Mac, but the project doesn't show up in the project window in iMovie on the other Mac and I can't open it there by browsing to it in Finder...
    Can anyone help?

I think you can transfer an iMovie for iOS project from the iPad and edit it on iMovie on the Mac. This works fine.
However, you cannot start a movie on iMovie for the Mac and transfer it to iMovie for the iPad.
    Think of it this way.
Say that iMovie for the Mac has 1000 features*, and iMovie for the iPad has 400 features*. These 400 features map one to one to an equivalent iMovie for Mac feature. Because there is a good mapping, you can transfer and edit.
But if you go the other way, iMovie for Mac has 600 features for which there is no corresponding feature in iMovie for iPad or iPhone. So there is no way to edit an iMovie for Mac project on the iPad.
    * I made these numbers up for illustration purposes.

  • How can I download the trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4

Can anybody tell me how can I download Adobe premiere Pro CS4 trial version for windows 7 English.

This is a forum. None of the users here -at least not to my knowledge - are Adobe professional
Ninety-nine point nine percent correct. We are blessed with a few Adobe employees here, unlike some fora, but those folk are probably at NAB right now. Also, they are in other departments, so would have to walk "down the hall," or make a call, just as we would.
When it gets to issues on licensing, installation, etc., we're pretty much at a loss. Most of us have never encountered such issues, and only know what we have read in others' threads, when they have bothered to report back. Even then, that is third-hand info.
Last time that I had an Adobe installation issue was AI 3, IIRC. My upgrade version did not have the old database of S/N's. Mine was 00-000-003, and things had changed drastically. One call to Adobe, and a total time of about 5 mins. (including hold time), and I was given a number to plug in, and then everything installed perfectly. That was in about 1989, so is not quite contemporary. Still, that is the last and only first-person account that I can offer. Most here have zero personal experiences, as they came to the party later, and have just not had any such issues.
We'd love to help, but just do not have the experience.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How can I make ShadowPlay footage play nice in Premiere Pro CS6?

nVidia recently released the beta for their new capture technology, "ShadowPlay" which makes it a lot easier for youtubers like me to capture footage of PC games. However, Premiere Pro CS6 fails to handle the audio well, throwing it way out of sync. This apparantly happens because Premiere doesn't support variable framerates especially well. I have no interest in editing in Vegas Pro, but i'd be happy to take the extra time to make the file work well in Premiere. I'm not highly knowledgable though so I'm not sure what, if any, the process would be to do this, so I'd greatly appreciate any help!

    >figure a VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE'S forums would know more about editing video
Yes... and everything I know (plus Steven in #2) is that PProCS6 does not do well with variable frame rate video... and is not likely to ever be updated to add that capability
Which is why I suggested contacting nVidia... since the file format is from them, not from Adobe
I don't/won't use PProCC so have NO idea if it works better with your type of file
I think you can try PProCC free for 30 days, so you can find out for yourself... check in the Cloud forum to find out about 30 day trials

  • How can I edit a word file created with Export PDF?

I can add text boxes, but I can't add text in other places.

    Hi Jkostka,
For starters, please try triple-clicking in the text block that you want to edit. If that doesn't work, we would need to take a closer look at the PDF that you converted. Do you know how it was created? If you don't, please open it in Adobe Reader, and choose File > Properties. The document creator is listed in that dialog box.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
    Best,

  • How can I transfer presets that I create between accounts

Hello, I created some presets in Pr Pro while logged in under my Admin account.  The presets showed up when I created a new project while in the Admin account.  But when I switched over to my other account the presets did not show up.  I would like to use those preset is the other account as that I where I normally work from.  Where are they saved and how do I get them over to my other user accounts.
    Thank you

Well, that changes things. However, you should be able to search for similar terms using Spotlight and you'll find the path. It's somewhere in your home/user directory. I don't work with PPro on the Mac, so I can't be more specific.
Jim's right though--most programs like Premiere will be happier and tend to cause fewer problems if they are run under an Admin account. That's not saying that you CAN'T run it under a standard user account, but that will be the first thing that most user and tech support will tell you if you have issues. As long as you're not hooked up to the internet with your editing machine, there are no good reasons to not use the Admin account.
ADDENDUM: I think the file you're looking for is "Effect Presets and Custom Items.prfpset". It's in the directory I mentioned above. Also note that you can export your effects presets from the effects bin to individual .prfpset files that you can move to different platforms, and then import those into the new platform where they will become part of the "Effect Presets and Custom Items.prfpset" file.

  • How can I edit documents that I scan

I scan documents for the church and now I have to revised and edit some things and I can't. I already bought adobe

Which Acrobat version are you using ?
In Acrobat DC there is a new feature which you can use to edit a scan document.
    Steps:
    1. Open the scan document you want to edit.
    2. Right Click on the document -> Select "Edit Text and Images" option.
    3. After scanned page is converted to editable text and images you will see boxes on the page.
    4. Click inside the box where you want to make changes and make your changes.
    5. If you want to add some text at any place in the document (where no box is present) then use 'Add Text' option from the top bar.
If you don't have Acrobat DC you can download free trial @ Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC
In earlier Acrobat version (Acrobat XI) you can do this but the quality of text changed or added will not match the existing text. So quality will be poor.
Steps to follow for Acrobat XI -
    1. First you have to run 'Clearscan' on the scan document
    2. After document is clearscanned, Use 'Edit Text and Images' content editing tool from Right Hand Pane
    3. Follow steps 3 to 5 as mentioned above.
    Hope this helps.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Are you looking for text whose fill is a 4- color gradient instead of a solid color. Or something else, like text whose fill is a still or video?
Answers are in the details. So, please, more details so I can fine tune a reply to your question.

  • How can I edit material from 1 or more dvds that I created from my own filmed material in iMovie but which I no longer have in iMovie

How can I edit material from 1 or more dvds that I created from my own filmed material in iMovie but which I no longer have in iMovie

You need to 'reverse engineer' them :
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

Geotagging - how can I edit new places that I have previously created but with typos, errors etc?  How do I delete a place I have set up?  Then I could create a new, correct entry.  I'm using iPhoto '09.

Is it OK to reply to my own question?? Thanks to the related posts that appeared AFTER I'd made the post above, I learnt about the 'Manage my places' item under the Windows menu. I felt a bit dumb not knowing this.
BUT it doesn't completely resolve the issue.  The info shown in the EXIF (using opt-cmd-I) under Places has the place name I choose, but it is followed by a few other lines that are incorrect and do not seem to be anything to do with any data I can see under 'Manage my places'.
