How can I eliminate strong wind noise with audition?

Hi, I have some recorded tape of a wedding on a beach on  a very windy day with a fairly ordinary digital jvc video camera. I tried to use the equaliser but did not really achieve or improve much of anything. Would Audition allow me to do this?
MM

Unfortunately I don't think that anything is going to help you much here - it's why pro recordists (and anybody else who realises what the problem is) use big fluffy windgags on mics outside - even when there's hardly any wind at all. These break up the direct blasts considerably, and randomise the air movements around the gag itself. As a consequence, inside the gag there's an area of still air around the mic itself, and that stops the blast effects on the diaphragm.
The problem with wind is that it's not constant in level or sound type - the bandwidth varies too. Audition can reduce constant background sounds quite effectively, but wind doesn't even begin to qualify here - and as a consequence, there's no way that Noise Reduction can help you - even the newer adaptive sort doesn't fix wind problems. And before you ask, there's no other software that can help either - this random high level noise is all over the wanted parts of your recording, so whatever you do, it's also going to affect that.
That said, often you can fix some of the problems by rolling off all of the bass in the signal - say, everything below 100 Hz, because that's usually where the worst effects are, and there generally isn't much speech content below 100Hz anyway. But once you've done that, you don't really have anywhere else to go with this, I'm afraid.

I recently bought a second hand ishuffle. I downloaded the music stored in my laptop on to my ishuffle. Whenever I play music on ishuffle I hear a background noise (sounding like a tin foil being rubbed). However this noise is not there when I hear the same music on my laptop. How can I rectify this?

That makes me sad. thannk you

  • How can I eliminate a ringing noise from a 60 Hz analog notch filter?

Using 60Hz analog notch filter may cause some ringing noise for the signal of cutoff frequency edges. Do you have a method excluding such a ringing noise? I guess that a deconvolution method will be helpful for the problem but I cannot apply that properly.

    ELCA,
A different approach is to average in the time domain.
I suggest a method called 'boxcar' used in physics labs sometimes.
Slice your time between two triggers in let's say twelve equal time slots and do a lowpass (f0) on
    each slot.
The result is a stepwise approximation of your curve. In the frequency domain this is about the same
as a bandpass at the cardiay frequency with the bandwith f0
60 Hz signal is problem only if your rats heart beats inside this bandpass. But when it is at 60 Hz
you might have lots of difficulties anyhoe ;-)

This never happened before, however the last couple of months it comes up every time I plug my USB from PC to iphone.

    HyperNova Software,
Thank you so much.  Because I am very computer illiterate, could you help me on how to get started?  I don't have the slightest on where to get started, the steps to follow, etc.
Can't thank you enough for your help!

I'm using Duet 2 Audio Interface with Garageband 09, when I connect my acoustic guitar to the combi jack I get a buzzing/humming sound.  How can I eliminate this?

do you have any thing plugged into wall power? Audio interface, computer, speakers, amp for the guitar? if so are they all plugged into the same power strip? if so, have you tried another outlet?
Altertively have you tried a diffrent port on the combo jack? Have you tried a diffrent guitar cable? Have you tried a diffrent guitar or audio input device like a mic? Is the device directly plugged into the combo jack, or is it being routed throughs some thing?

  • How can I eliminate delays in one NIC when there is traffic on second NIC

Using LabVIEW TCP/IP VIs, my LV application is  accessing a database though a LAN, and  through a second NIC, it is controlling an instrument.  The instrument is connected directly to the computer NIC with a cross-over cable.  I have made a permanent route for the IP address of the instrument in the IP route table.  The LAN and the instrument have different subnet numbers.  Using a packet sniffer, I don't see any traffic meant for the LAN going to the NIC connected to the instrument.  The OS of the computer is Windows XP and the NICs are PCI cards.
The message traffic to the instrument suffers from intermittent delays when there is traffic going to the LAN.
How can I eliminate the delays?  What could be the cause of the delays?  Thanks in advance for your recommendations and suggestions.

    Hi LabBard,
Could you tell us a little more about the device that you are connected to? What you could try is to have a VI accessing the LAN, and a separate VI communicating with the instrument, and see how things play out.
Let us know how it goes!

  • How can I eliminate duplicates in Outlook

My iPhone 4 and iMac (Outlook) were out of sync. I synced them through iTunes and I now have duplicates in Outlook. How can I eliminate them in Outlook. My thought is to sync my iPhone with Google Contacts, eliminate the duplicates, and somehow load them into Outlook. Is that the best way to go, or is there an easier way?

If you are trying to sync from the Outlook calendar on the PC and you are syncing with iCloud - that is probably why you are getting duplicate entries.
So therefore, if you are getting duplicate entries - it must be syncing the Outlook calendar on the PC.

  • How can I eliminate error in printing a cd jewel case cover in latest ITunes version?

How can I eliminate the printing error in Itunes when attempting to print a cd jewel case cover?  I'm using the latest iTunes version.

I finally solved this problem after toiling with it for a couple of days.  Solution:  Once you have  burned your CD you must go back into iTunes to your music/playlists and select the playlist you just burned and click file; print and you will  get the mosaics that we have been accustomed to.  I was on hold with  Apple Support when I found this myself.  Yes......!!! Problem solved..for me anyway.  Good luck!

How can I eliminate quicktime error code 36

    Hello,
Error -36 stands for an I/O Error.
File is not readable. You would need to generate a clean, error-free copy of the damaged file. Since some segments of the file are not readable, the best that can be done is to skip them.

  • How can I eliminate stairsteps between samples in a graph?

How can I eliminate stairsteps between samples in a graph? I am graphing the input from a fieldpoint AI-100 and I get stairsteps between samples. I'm using Labview 4.1

    Paul,
It sounds like you are running into the situation where the resolution of the ADC converter is the source of the behavior you see. Your configuration may be set so that a voltage change is not seen between samples, generating multiple points with the same value. If this is the case, the graph you see is correct. It is displaying the points it receives from the FP-AI-100. You can verify this by displaying the graph data in an array, and seeing if some of the adjacent samples show the same value.
If this is the case, see if you can match the signal range to that of the ADC to take advantage of the resolution available. For example, if you set the range to be 0 to 30 volts, the smallest detectable voltage change would be 7.3 mV (range/gain*2^resolution) bec
ause the FP-AI-100 has a resolution of 12-bit. You can read up on issues with range and resolution by doing a search on http://www.ni.com using the keywords "range" and "resolution".
Otherwise you may be able to compensate for this behavior in software, such as running an averaging routine or applying a mathematical formula to the data points.
    Hope this helps!

  • How can I eliminate the weird orange AURA that encompass the sun on my sunrise photos??

how can I eliminate the distracting orangish AURA that encompass the sun on my sunrise photos

Are you shooting raw?   With what camera?  And what version of Photoshop are you using to convert your images?
Seems to me Camera Raw got a LOT better about developing images without that unnatural "aura" around the time they embraced a full floating point internal workflow...  As I recall that was Camera Raw version 7 (with Photoshop CS6).
Assuming you're shooting raw and not using Camera Raw version 7 or newer, do you have a raw file you can put online somewhere?  I'll be happy to run it through the mill...
