How can i get an mpeg-1 movie to play using QuickTime?
I just bought the MPEG-2 extension for Quicktime because I had a movie with a .mpg extension only to find that it's mpeg-1, not 2. MPEG Streamclip does not work either. In both cases I get the control window and when I hit the play button, the marker jumps immediately to the end. The movie plays without any problems using Windows Media Player on a Windows PC. Any suggestions?
Additional note: When I go to Window->Show Movie Inspector it says that it's an MPEG1 Audio

Doesn't work: it can't read the first time code. Another odd thing: the .mpg file shows up in Finder as being only 64K in size, but the folder holding it is 2.6 gig. If I do an 'ls' in a terminal window there are lots of files all having the same name (?!).
I used some Unix hacking to create a bunch of files with different names. When I open them and fix time codes I end up with an audio file having only 6 seconds worth of silence. The total size of all the files is still only 7.5 MB, far short of the 2.6 gig the disk claims are all used up.

hi philly, thanks for getting back to me, especially on such a busy day.
I don't think that's quite the issue though. I bought an album and it appears in 'my purchases' within the itunes app. Yet, in order to listen to the music, i must use the 'music' app and in this application, there are only three tracks displayed at any one time from my downloaded album.
I can 'download all' from the 'my purchases' section but that still doesn't help, it just keeps the last three tracks downloaded in the music app.
I have the 'icloud' enabled and wondered if it had anything to do with that.
i have successfully downloaded another full album totally into the music app, but this first album is causing me problems. -
just replaced my iphone 4 with new 4. restore from icloud is hung on an app I no longer use (password probably expired) how can i get the restore to move on to the next app
Read another post in the forum about this and it appears this app also installs a profile with a proxy service that you will have to try and delete as well. Check that out.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)

I also want the videos I'm transfering to be visible in the "Video" app on my iPhone (I dont have an iPad, Yet. )
Right now, in order to see my videos I have to share iPhoto albums/etc.. from within iTunes. this mixes them up within the "Photo" app. Don't get me wrong, that is great, at least I can see them there in an album I made for "Home Movies". but I would like to know if there is a way to make them visible to the "Video" app which has catagories like "Podcast" & "Music Videos".

First, the app must be universal...designed for both iPhone/iPad:
Tap App Store.
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Tap Updates.
Tap Purchased on the resulting screen.
Locate the app in your Purchased tab.
Tap the download icon.
The app will begin downloading and you'll be taken back to your home screen. -

Reading your question a bit more in detail, I doubt whether you are using Win32 API GetDiskFreeSpace function (for which my previous post is the solution) of Programmer's Toolbox GetDiskSpace function.
With reference to the second one, it works even with disks larger than 2GB but you need to use the proper formatting code to display the returned value. I updated my example to show total free space in the debug output window and added a comparison with 3GB value using UInt64TypeCompareUInt from the Programmer's Toolbox. -

she only needs to do that if he needs to change the format. For example if she recorded the clips via her phone and it's not in a format iTunes will play. For example if I have a .wmv iTunes won't touch it until I convert it. She could also be talking about video that she recorded on a DVD camcorder that burns the video to a DVD not a memory card. ITunes doesn't convert everything.
She's transfered the clips to her ipad and the ipad won't play them. So she needs to get them to a m4v or mp4, and you use format converters for that. Not apps but something on the computer. -

The cleanest way to get things straight now and as you proceed into the future with Time Machine is to start over. If the new machine is setup the way you want and has all the data placed onto it I suggest you erase and re-format the TM backup device and start a Full initial TM backup.
I believe this will pay dividends now and over time and avoid future problems for you. Jst before going to bed crank up the Full TM backup and it will be all done by morning time. -
