How can I get my new tabs to open to my homepage?

When I open a new tab, I want the tab to open straight to my set homepage. For example, my homepage is set to Yahoo.com, so when I open a new tab, how can I make it so that tab will open right to Yahoo.com?

Not an efficient way of using Firefox, in my opinion. There used to be a configuration option to do that but that no longer works, but either of these two extensions will do that.

What I think would be better is to only open your home page when Firefox first opens. To open a Yahoo page later, use a keyword shortcut -- see [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm Firefox Keyword Shortcuts]

  • How can I get a new tab to open to my homepage, instead of a blank, untitled page?

    When I click on the + to open a new tab, I would like that new tab to open to my homepage, not just to a blank, untitled page. I have looked through the help pages, but have not been able to find any instructions on how to make this happen. Is it possible, or am I asking too much?

    You can do that by using an add-on such as:
    * NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
    * New Tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/

  • How can i get a new tab to open on my homepage

    i wish my new tabs to open on my homepage.
    How do i set this up please?

    You can middle-click or Ctrl left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
    You can look at one of these extensions:
    * NewTabURL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/2221
    * New Tab Homepage : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/777

  • How can I get a new tab to open to a specific page?

    I use speed dial add-on and have for a few years. I had an issue with firefox yesterday and had to reinstall it and lost all my settings. I added the speed dial add-on and tried to set it as my home page, but when I restart instead of going to speed-dial it goes to a new tab page and the homepage has changed in the options setting. No matter how many times I try and switch startup page/home page to speed dial, it keeps changing back to new tab.

    If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

  • I can't get a new tab to open, either by pressing the + sign, going to file new tab or by right clicking and selecting new tab. What's the problem?

    I can't get a new tab to open. I've tried pressing the + sign, going to file-new tab and by right clicking and selecting new tab. Why won't a new tab open?

    Try "Ctrl+T" for a new tab.

  • How do I get my new tab to open to google search?

    My page used to open to avg secure search for new tabs. I figured out how to disable it but now cannot figure out how to set it so that my new tabs open to a google search.
    Thanks

    Actually it does.
    A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
    If that wasn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior and you probably did disable that extension.
    You need another extension if you want a new tab to open with a specific page.
    You can use an extension to set which page to open in a new tab:
    *NewTabURL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
    *My Homepage: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/my-homepage/
    You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.

  • I am using Firefox 3.6 on my PC , and now, when I select File New Tab (Ctrl+T), no new Tab shows up. Nor does it show up when I click the new Tab symbol next to my other tabs. How can I get the New Tab feature to work again?

    In the past 48 hrs, all of a sudden, the New Tab feature on my PC< using Firefox 3.56, simply stopped working. I did not change settings, or download a new version of Firefox. it just stopped working. There are other scenarios where it does still work (for example, if I want to open a link on a web page, I can right click and open the link in a new tab), but if I simply want to have multiple websites open at once on my PC, I am forced to have multiple versions of Firefox open, as my New Tab option seems to be disabled or something. Can you help?

  • How do I get a new tab to open up in a blank page instead of a pre-set one?

    When I open a new tab, I would like it to open up a blank page, not this site: http://start.facemoods.com/?a=ust&f=2

    Since you have an extension called "Facemoods", I would guess it has something to do with that extension. Go to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions , locate "Facemoods" and click on it, click either Disable or Uninstall , restart Firefox by clicking Restart Firefox in the Extensions window. Test.

  • How do I get a new tab to open with my fave search engine?

    I have Vista with the updated Firefox. I want my favorite search engine to automatically load when I select a new tab. So far, I can only get a blank page or preset group of tabs to load, not my search engine. I can get this with IE, how can I do this with Firefox? When I updated the Ask&Record toolbar to the Freecorder Community Toolbar, I deselected the changes, hoping this would not change my settings, but it seems that didn't work as expected.

    A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
    If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
