    Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
    Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
    Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
    You may have to log out or reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
    If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
    Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

    I'm working in Desktop Intelligence XI and I'm using an Excel data provider and a universe data provider. I've linked the two providers on the common field "Cost_Code". The Excel data provider also has a "Cost_Code_Descr_xls" field so I've created a new variable that makes this description field a detail object associated with the "Cost_Code" dimension. This allows me to use both objects in the report.
    Some of the cost codes in my universe data provider are not found in my cost_code Excel provider so I'm trying to create a simple formula to deal with these null values:
    = if isnull(<Cost_Code_Descr_xls>) then "Unclassified" else <Cost_Code_Descr_xls>
    This is where I get the "Variables are not compatible" error.
    Any ideas on how to get around this error?

    Hi David,
    I might have been a bit to quick with just saying that the only thing you needed to do was replacing the object with the variable you created.
    The variable is only compatible with 'Cost Code' dimension, but not with any of the other dimensions in the report. Your header probably only contains the 'Cost Code' dimension and as such the formula isn't giving any problems. But your details contain ohter incompatible dimensions.
    What you need to do is also create detail variables for the other dimensions and relate those to the 'Cost Code' dimension. Use those newly created detail variables  in your report.

    You cannot stop it from popping up.
    it will continue every few minutes until its installed.
    just keep using the back button near right side of home button.

    My friend and I downloaded a copy of PSE10 and attempted to install it on a Windows 7 machine.  After completing about 98% of the installation, we encountered an error -- either #1935 or #1395.  We could not get past that point.  The software, then, backed out of the process. 
    We downloaded another copy of PSE 10 from another source and tried to install it.  Same result. 
    We called Adobe and the person responding told us that it was a compatibility problem between PSE 10 and Windows 7.  He suggested a work-around that may or may not work, but for technical reasons, we were unable even to try it.  (Create a new operator identity in Windows and use that to install the software.)  Adding insult to injury, he indicated that we would have to pay for his advice on how to resolve Adobe's problem
    Since it is hard to invent a new problem, there must be hundreds, if not thousands, of people who have experienced this problem and found a simple way to solve it.  Please, tell us how!

    Regarding modifying the registry as suggested in solution 2 (you shouldn't be concerned with installing updates though) we would always recommend backing up the registry before making any changes. That way you can always restore to what you had before troubleshooting.

    My iMac G5 doesn't have the Intel Processors and it operates on OS X 10.4.  Both conditions make it impossible for me to upgrade to iTunes 10.  Every time I attempt to log into the iTunes Store, I am given a page that offers me the opportunity to upgrade to iTunes 10+ and I'm not able to get beyond the page and in to the Store.  My account is current and I'm not happy with this strategy to make my perfectly good iMac obsolete and force me to buy a new one in order to access the iTunes Store.  I need a way to get beyond the page that offers the iTunes 10+ free download, so I can purchase the music I want.  Please help me get around this Apple ploy.

    Many of us don't like it but innovative Apple staying ahead of the curve means those of us on the other side quickly get ignored.  After all, who is it who is spending money on all that hardware and software; the people staying with the newest all the time, or those of us who haven't bought a computer or operating system in 5 years? It's a for-profit company so you can hardly blame them, though it doesn't endear me to the policy of not supporting anything older than 4 years or so.
    More in response to your specific issues, with a G5 you can upgrade to OSX 10.5 (which doesn't require Intel except for iCloud and related) which will allow you to run newer iTunes.  It's a bit of hassle and some cost.
    Alternatively think about buying from some other online retailer such as Amazon and don't forget to write Apple saying what you're doing.
    Edit:
    A comment on Niel's suggestion, I don't think anything less than iTunes 10 gives you access to the iTunes store.

    To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.     I do NOT like using my credit card if I don't have to, and I went out of my way to go buy an Apple gift card, which I successfully redeemed into my Apple account. However, when I use the Apple "Cards" app, it will not let me use anything other than my credit card. I tried purchasing a card, hopefulling it would come out of my Apple store balance, but no such luck -- it came out of my credit card.
    Apple is becoming more like Microsoft every day.
