How can I get rice out of my Macbook Pro?

Hi everyone,
a couple week ago, I splilled some juice on my Macbook Pro. I turned it off, whiped as much juice as I could and put my Macbook in rice. Since then, everytime I move my computer, I can hear the rice go through the whole body of the Macbook. I was wondering what would be the safest way to clean the rice out. Should I go to my nearest Apple Store or should I open it myself? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Liquid spills, why your MacBook chassis is a one-way valve for spills
After a substantial spill many people will turn their notebook upside down and shake it, not only does this not work, but it spreads liquid havoc throughout your machine and makes things often as bad as possible. The keyboard itself acts like a one way valve in the case of a substantial liquid spill. While liquid pours into the bottom chassis easy, it does not come out easily at all, and in the case of any spill, most of it will not come out by turning it upside down.
Disconnect all power and contact Apple for diagnostics and repair.
Do not attempt to, after a spill, ‘dry out your notebook’ and test it
After a spill most people invariably try to “dry out” their notebook by various methods, including hair dryers and otherwise. This both does not work, and after a substantial spill of any magnitude, even if the liquid was water, residue is left behind.
There are additionally many very tight places inside your notebook where liquids will linger for a very long time, and cause corrosion or worse. Immediately unplug your notebook and contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and parts replacement.
In the case of very minor spills people will “dry out” their notebook and feel success that their notebook is working ok, however invariably in nearly all instances after 4-14 days an error / fault pops up and is usually followed by more.

    It's rather simple. Buy a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. And then a HDMI cable long enough to link your computer the distance between both devices.

    Buy Office 2011 for OS X. Or if you don't want to spend any money you can use Libre Office.

  • How can I get internet explorer on my macbook pro?

    How can I install internet explorer on my macbook pro? Thanks!

    Install Windows 7 into a virtual machine program (IE comes with it), I suggest VirtualBox as it's free and gets updates for near forever. However VMFusion and Parallels has more features but then to drop you if you don't upgrade OS X.
    Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?

  • HT4007 How can I get Aperture onto my new Macbook Pro 15" Retina that DOESN'T have a superdrive from my 5 year old Macbook Pro?  I still have the CD and serial number for Aperture. HELP! PLEASE!!

    Like the thread topic says. I need help getting Aperture onto my new macbook pro that does not have a drive. I have no need for a drive after this to be honest just need my programs back on it. Thanks.

    Two options:
    Make a disk image or a clone of the installer CD on your Mac that has a super drive - you can create a disk image using Disk Utility or use Carbon Copy Cloner (if you have it) to clone the DVD to a thumbsdrive. Then run the installer on your MBY from this copy.
    Or download the Trial Installer and install from there:
    Download the Aperture 3.1 Trial.  http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Aperture/061-8328 .20101020.AprE3/ApertureTrial3.1.dmg
    Open the Aperture Trial disc image.
    Double-click the "Aperture Trial.mpkg" file.
    Follow the onscreen instructions to install Aperture.
    After the installation completes, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu.
    Install the Aperture 3.4 update from the list of available updates.

  • How can I get Keynote '09 on my MacBook Pro OS 10.7.5?

    I have 2 Macs. A MacBook Pro (purchased in 2009) and a Desktop (which was purchased in 2006 and won't run Maverick). Both hard drives crashed. Desktop was backed up, MacBook was not. (really bad). New hard drives on both. Thanks to recovery software, I saved most files. Rebuilt the MacBook and installed iwork 08 (which I had on discs). I had originally updated to iwork '09 (off the app store) on the old hard drive for the desktop and off discs(that disappeared) for the MacBook. Was able to pull iwork 09 from the Desktop for everything except Keynote. (It was still in '08 since I never used it on that machine). Keynote files that were originally created on the MacBook Pro using '09, of course now won't open because I have '08. Ordered iwork '09 discs. Installed on both desktop and laptop to get Keynote 09 and neither of them worked. Just gets an error message. Thinking this is a combination iwork '09 issue with the latest OS software 10.7.5. Can't find any updates out there. Help!

    I had originally updated to iwork '09 (off the app store)
    I suggest you the following, it has been able to sort out many issues with Keynote so its worth a go:
    1 - Remove iWork, (use Appcleaner from Freemacsoft to completely uninstall all iwork files, it is freeware)
    2 - Shut down the Mac and Start up again in safe mode (press shift key immediately after the start chime untill            the Mac symbol appears)    it will take longer to start up as the OS is being repaired
    3 - When the Mac is fully booted, go to:   Applications > Utilities > Disk utility
           click the System hard drive in the list then first aid tab > Repair Disc
    4 - Reboot normally
    5 - re-install iWork from the Mac App Store,  you dont need to buy discs as iWork has been purchased by you.
    6 - install updates for Keynote from: Apple Menu > Software update

  • How can I get 2tb in a new macbook pro

    I want to get a new macbook pro but I would need it to have 2TB of storage since I do music production and I have tons of software and sounds/samples I need in my laptop. Can I make a new macbook pro have 2TB or would I need like a 17in macbook pro which I would have to find a used one

    all 4 platter 2TB  2.5" HD are  15.2mm THICK. theres utterly NO WAY a single HD will fit in any macbook like that.
    only option is a 1TB in the internal bay, and removal of the superdrive DVD/CD player and installing a secondary 1TB HD in the "optibay"
    See OWC for the optibay option.
    http://www.mcetech.com/optibay/
    2.5" hard drive thickness and capacity
    7mm = 500gig
    9.5mm = 500gig up to 1TB
    12.5mm = 1.5TB
    15.2mm = 2TB
    (however there are new HD just out that are 5mm = 500gig and 7mm = 1TB  and 9.5mm = 1.5TB)
    You have the POTENTIAL of 3TB in your macbook between 2 HD, however those drives are western digital, which I and most here wouldnt recommend. Also they just came out, and their reliability is UNKNOWN.

  • How can I get my data off my MacBook Pro hard drive?

    So initially, water was spilled on my MacBook Pro keyboard. I promptly shut it down, turned it upside down, mopped up the water and let it dry out for a day near a heater. The next day it worked fine and continued to do so for about 2 more days until it decided it would no longer start up. Right now it can't make it to the login screen at start up, it just shuts down, the same thing happens in safe mode as well. So, since I haven't backed up my data recently, I was wondering if there was a way I could rescue my data from the hard drive. I did take it in to the Genius Bar, but they couldn't help me since it wouldn't start up in safe mode. Is there a way around this like hooking up an alternate monitor or am I just screwed?

    Here is a Video to remove drive:

    Here is a video to install drive you took out to a new enclosure - to make your files accesible to other Macs.

    Once you do look for home folder and copy everything to the other mac or another external drive.

  • How can I get files off of a MacBook Pro stuck in sleep mode?

    A bit of a backstory: Recently my mid-2008 MacBook Pro stopped working. When I try to boot it up, the screen just stays black and the idle light flashes perpetually. I've reset the NVRAM and SMC, even attached it to an external monitor, but nothing works. After a lot of research, I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the hall effect switch.
    But I digress; I don't actually need this computer repaired, as I have a second (newer) MacBook Pro I can use. However, there are some files on the old one that I'd like to retrieve. And yes, I've tried booting into target disk mode, which unfortunately doesn't work for reasons listed above.
    Essentially what I'm asking is, is there a way I could transfer the files off the old computer to the new one? I know, I should take it to the Apple store, but that's not really an option right now due to personal reasons. I'd just like to know if anyone could suggest another way.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Remove the drive and connect it to your other Mac with a SATA to USB adapter. Copy whatever files you want off the drive.

    Hi, I need to download MS Access onto my Macbook Pro for school but I can't find any links to download it. Is it even possible? Thanks.

  • How can I get Microsoft Office onto my Macbook Pro?

    I Need Microsoft word and Powerpoint for my Macbook. I have the 2008 version on CD but I have no disk drive on my Laptop....how do I go about installing it? Should I just bring it into the Apple Store and get them to install it?

    You could try seeing if your local Apple Store would allow you to use an external drive to install Office 2008... it's no longer available as a digital download that I can find (only 2011 -> http://www.microsoft.com/mac/office-2011-digital-download).
    2008 is going to look bad on a Retina display - if you want Retina display capabilities, you'll have to upgrade the the latest version fo 2011.

    I have an Retina display MacBook Pro with HMDI out port. I also have an HDMI to Component cable with Audio Plugs. How can I get HDMI out to work with this cable when plugged into the MacBook Pro and connected to the TVs Component and Audio in ports.

    Will not work.  To my knowledge, dual converting like that isn't supported.  The Mac must detect the connected video output device and that sort of info cannot be done across an analog component uni-directional connection.
