How can I get rid of that irritating contact/favorites across the top of the home screen?

Actually, that's not on the Home screen, it is on the multitasking or App Switcher view so only shows up when you enter that mode (so I'm not to clear as to why it is so "irritating", but whatever).
Settings app > Mail,Contacts,Calendars > scroll down to CONTACTS section] > Show in App Switcher

I use iTunes to subscribe to podcasts. After synchronizing, the podcasts appear on my Ipod in my "Podcasts"-folder as they should. But the Authors also appear in the "Artists"-folder, which I find very confusing.

If the History sidebar is closed when you close Firefox and doesn't stay closed on the next start then that can be problem with the file localstore.rdf in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete localstore.rdf or rename the file to localstore.rdf.sav in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to test if the file is corrupted.

Note: 
Deleting the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] will reset the customizations of the toolbars to the defaults. 
You can rename "localstore.rdf" to "localstore.rdf.sav" to test if that solves it. 
Then you can restore the customization by copying "localstore.rdf.sav" to "localstore.rdf" if it didn't work.

How can I get rid of that annoying white circle in that black square

Since Oct. 7 last I have a 5S. Before had a 4S. About 4S no complaints, so the 5S maybe faster, better cam and so on but what I really hate it that stupid white circle in a black square you can move around on your screen. Yes, you are right. I must have done it myself during the first days while exploring the many options after the initial set up was done. hello tomterrimort, if your manual changes don't 'stick' after a restart of the browser, please look out for any suspicious extensions (like 3rd-party-toolbars or things you have not installed intentionally) presently installed under '''firefox/tools > addons > extensions''' or the programs section of the windows control panel and remove those entries.
in case this doesn't solve the issue please try this: go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "show folder", then a new window will open up. in this window look out for a file named '''user.js''' (it might be used to overwrite your custom settings). in case it is present , delete or rename this file and restart firefox afterwards.

How can I get rid of my own contacts from my wife's contacts list?

Somewhere along the way my wife's contacts app on her iPad, her Mac and iCould, was populated with all of my own contacts (lots). How can I get rid of mine without deleting her own. I have backed up her contacts on the Mac and I have checked that new contacts are not appearing on each other's lists. Hers is an iPad 2 running iOS 8.1.1. The Mac is running Mavericks.

I sought help among the available articles. I was informed that right clicking on a vacant part of the toolbar would give me the option to delete or hide it. Doesn't seem to work with this one. In fact, right clicking anywhere on this row isn't working. If I right click the "startnow" icon, it takes me to that page. I really don't want this toolbar, as it wastes my desk space. How do I get rid of it?

App icons are ghosted in 7.1- how can I get rid of that? (iPhone)

The first screen of app icons is ghosted and remains fixed on the background image as I swipe the 'real' app icons from screen to screen. This happpened with ios 7.1. Any ideas?

It sounds like your Home Screen is showing what appears to be your apps in the background and will not move, but you can still swipe left and right. From the way you describe what is happening, it seems as if the wallpaper for your Home Screen was changed to a screenshot of your Home Screen.
Change the wallpaper. Go to Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > Choose a New Wallpaper.

If that doesn't work, and you by chance have at least one gmail account, you might actually have unread emails in a folder other than the Inbox.

I am facing this vexed problem for the past two days: whenever I quit Safari, this pop-up is turning up:
I am aware of the malicious effects of this application which, far from cleaning and protecting our precious Macs does the opposite!
Can I be informed of how I can close Safari smoothly without having to see this malware?

You can force quit an application using the task manager. Press COMMAND-OPTION-ESC keys together to open it. Select the Safari application then click on the Force Quit button. Relaunch Safari while holding down the SHIFT key.

Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.

I keep having request for ITunes to log in, that is not my account name. I have never used that account. It pops up all the time,and it stops everything that I am working on. How can I get rid of that prompt?

Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID. What ID is in the settings. Tap on that ID to change it. Sign Out. Sign in with your own ID. After you sign out with the incorrect ID, restart the iPad before you sign into your correct account.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go to Settings>Store and sign in.

Then Sign In using the preferred Apple ID.
It should be Noted that anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID
