How can I get all my songs (from CDs) onto my laptop from my Nano?
Do I have to rip all those CDs again even though they are on the Nano?
I thought I was allowed to have multiple PCs and use the sync feature. Yet when I plug in the Nano the message says it will sync to what's on my laptop which are only a few songs I've purchased!!
I thought Apple was better than that?! And to think I was going to purchase an iPad! But if I can't synch my music to other devices, why bother.
In order to get my music to iCloud via iMatch, I guess I have to rip them all again! What a pain in the butt...:(

one way to can simply do this (if dragging and dropping won't work), is to simply put the songs that you would like in the playlist into the On-The-Go playlist in your iPod. Once you have put these songs into the On-The-Go folder (by highlighting the song and holding down the center button), simply plug the ipod back into your computer, and rename the folder with the songs in it. Thank you... just read up on iTunes Match. That stinks, paying a yearly thing... but I understand everyone has to make a dollar. I think I'm better off just picking the best songs out of my collection storing them on my computer or iPhone then selling my CD's to some used CD place. If I ever really want to hear a song there are multiple options and if I want it... the .99 to 1.29 option is always there.

okay so on my old computer (and on my iphone now) i had/have around 1000 songs in my itunes from various websites, around half of these are free downloads of independant artists and things like that, so not purchased in itunes. the other half i did purchase. my old computer broke, so i can't get to any of the non purchased songs, besides from my phone. i transferred all my purchases into my new computers itunes so around 450 of my songs i can access, but the rest are only on my phone. itunes keeps prompting me to erase and sync but that would get rid of all the non purchased songs on my phone so they would basically be lost forever, right? i know they want me to do that to protect against illegal downloads and things like that but this stuff isn't downloaded illegally! is there anything i can do to get my music on this computer or am i basically screwed? also i've tried downloading a few free tracks from various websites (again, legally)... they are showing up in my itunes library but every time i try to drag them onto my phone it doesn't work. my computer is authorized and i've tried everyhting else i can think of... can anyone help? i have windows 8 and my itunes and iOS are both updated fully, if that makes any difference. thanks!

I have all my music from one iTunes, and to put the songs in the iPod and then in the other computer using "transfer purchases" isn't working as it is only transferring apps. That's why I need to get it from one computer to another. Thank you.

I'm having similar problems. going from an iphone used on a different computer to a new mac is extremely difficult. In order to add those songs that have been "skillfully acquired" requires the owner to "erase and sync" everything from the iphone. Not only that, I have bought hundreds of songs from iTunes (they have a lot of my money) and I have problems now when i purchase a song from my mac that does not auto. sync to my phone. it requires me to manually download the song itunes app on the phone in the purchased section.
I love Apple, no other computer or mobile device - in my opinion - can compare. However, these added securities and the red tape found in iTunes is frustrating and inconveniencing.

All the music from iTunes Store aren't protected. You can search the web for a site that sells protected music.
