How can I import contacts from Snow Leopard iMac to my Mavericks MBP without replacing all of the contacts.

*** Updated - FIgured this out right after I posted... I simply selected all contacts on the iMac, exported as a .vcf then dragged that into the MBP contacts ***
Problem solved...
*Original Question*
I have a MacBook Pro (MBP) running Mavericks... syncs contacts via iCloud with my iOS devices.  My iMac is an original intel model from 2006 which can only run Snow Leopard.  I have many contacts on that iMac that I would like to copy into the contacts on my MBP.
I used the 'Address Book Archive' feature on my iMac - transferred that to a flash drive then tried to import into the MBP contacts at which point it said it would replace the contents on my MBP... something I do NOT want to do.
Does anyone have a way of bringing all of my iMac contacts in to the MBP without replacing?
I appreciate any help...  Thank you !
Mike

How can I migrate data from an old MBA to a new one without having access to the screen of the old one? The screen of the old MBA is damaged !

If your "older" MBA has a Thunderbolt port then it isn't that old. See Target Disk Mode about how it's used. Note that without a monitor you won't be able to tell from the screen when it has fully started, and if it succeeded in starting in TDM. If it did, then the hard drive should appear on the Desktop of your new computer. You can then access it to transfer your files. You can even use Migration Assistant or any backup utility to transfer data. Just don't try to transfer system files.

  • How do I import mail from Snow Leopard to Lion Mail?

Tried dragging ~/Library/Mail files and folders across.
But Mail insisted on my setting up an accounr (I have several) and put everything into that one account.
Anyone know of a foolproof doc./url or checklist, please, which explains how to get everything that was in Snow Leopard Mail into Lion Mail?
    Thanks!

similar "solution" for how to import ical from snow leopard to lion:
    1) copy the following files (e.g. from a snow leopard backup) prior to first opening ical:
    1a) ~/Library/Keychains/ (folder "Keychains")
    1b) ~/Library/Calendars (folders "Calendars")
    1c) ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iCal.* (ical preferences files, "com.apple.iCal.helper.plist", "com.apple.iCal.plist")
    1d) ~/Library/Preferences/iCalExternalSync.plist
    2) then open ical in lion ... import/update will follow
if you have opened ical prior to the above steps these files (1b, 1c and 1d ) have already been created, so you have to replace them with your backups from snow leopard described above
if you have set up calendar accounts in system preferences "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" you might have to delete them before applying the above steps
    ps:
not quite sure if the following steps are necessary (or did help) for mail/ical import, because mobileme sync works now different in lion (no option for syncing calendars anymore within system preferences—>mobileme) ...
i did a mobileme sync in snow leopard prior to the clean install of lion with:
    Calendars
    Mail Accounts
Mail rules, Signatures, and Smart Mailboxes

  • How can I share files from Snow Leopard to Lion?

I have an iMac running 10.6.8 with file sharing turned on. (I've tried AFP and SMB).
I am trying to connect to the iMac on my LAN using a Macbook Pro with 10.7.5.
I am immediately prompted to authenticate – so I am confident a connection is being made (I am also able to ping) – but when I enter my user credentials from the iMac, I get the spinner (not the beach ball) basically forever. I've let it go for several minutes and nothing ever happens.
This article seems related, but following the procedure in it did not help:

Has anybody been able to file share from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion?

You have heeded the caution about turning off the firewall, you are on the same subnet, and you have verified that the shared user is enabled on the iMac with the correct authorization and permissions? Password has to be that of the user account on the iMac?
The firewall is off on both computers.
How can I werify the shared user is enabled on the iMac with the correct authorization and permission? It does not seem like sharing is configured per user. The user is my normal user account which I use when logged into that machine for everything. I am using those credentials when trying to connect from the Macbook Pro. In the past I did this frequently without trouble. I am not sure when the problem started but the only thing that has changed was I got a newer Macbook Pro last year with Lion.
If you grow weary of this, you might just bring the Macbook Pro over to the iMac and use Target Disk Mode to mount that iMac on your Macbook Pro as a desktop disk. Then drag and drop. No a long term solution.
This is not practical for me as I frquently have need to work from another room using the Macbook Pro and with files that typically live on the iMac (and get backed up from that location). I am making due with Dropbox for now, but the reason I have been driven to post here is that I am looking for the long term solution.
Thanks for feedback. Let me know if you have any additional thoughts.

  • How can I create a Teststand (1.0.3 or 2.0) distribution without having all of the VIs (6.0.2 or 6.1) in the same directory?

How would I create a Teststand distribution of LabVIEW VIs and maintain the test VI directory structure that I want?
I know that I have to use the application builder to build the custom operator interface, configure it as an ActiveX server, and launch the Teststand engine installation.
The only problem that I have is using the VI packager which puts all of the test code and sequences in a single directory.
This gets quite messy. There are just over 1000 files in the neatly orgainzed directory structure that I have now. (this includes support files, dll's and such)
I have read brief appnotes on configuring the ini file(s) to use
the vi search path that I want, but have not been able to get this to work. Maybe I'm not updating the correct ini? or have to include each subdirectory?
I have currently upgraded from LabVIEW 6.0.2 to 6.1
I am currently using Teststand 1.0.3
I have not upgraded to Teststand 2.0 yet because I have not decided if I want to build at this revision or go through the extra work to mass compile Teststand at LabVIEW 6.1, install the LabVIEW 6i VI Packager Fix, and update the new Teststand LV operator interface with my changes.
At present, I'm not getting the results I want and am quickly running out of time. I have to deliver the project by the 14th of July 2002.
Sorry for the long question and thanks for you help.

    Hi,
I dont think the problem is really related to using the VI Packager but more to how the OI interface applications relates to labVIEW File constants.
If you are using the LabVIEW as the ActiveX Server then there should be no problems. But if you are using the Runtime LabVIEW server such as 'TestStandLVRTS' then the file constant would return different paths.
eg for the Default Path you would get 'C:\TestStand\Components\User\RuntimeServers\LabVIEW' instead of 'c:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW'.
Attacted is an example to show how to change these paths when using your runtime server. Unzip this into your teststand examples folder
Put the INI file in the location of the \user\runtimeservers\labview folder.
    Change the labview adapter t
o use TestStandLVRTS.exe. You can run the example sequence from either the OI or seqeditor.
    I hope this helps

  • I have Leopard 10.5.8. How can i download and install Snow Leopard or Lion? Thanks.

Currently, I have Leopard 10.5.8. How can i download and install Snow Leopard or Lion? Thanks for your help.

You need to *call* Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE, as Ralph already said.
But "since one week" sounds like a direct translation of French "il y a".  You should call your local country's Apple suuport and ask.
Here is Amazon, from a "snow leopard buy" Google search: http://www.amazon.com/Mac-version-10-6-3-Snow-Leopard/dp/B001AMHWP8

  • How far should I upgrade from snow leopard

how far should I upgrade from snow leopard.  I just installed more RAM for a total of 4 GB.
    Thanks

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.
    Application Compatibility
    Applications Compatibility (2)
    Do a backup before installing.
If you can/do upgrade, I recommend you make a copy of the installer and move it out of your Applications folder. The installer self-destructs. The copy will keep you from having to download the installer again.  You can make a bootable USB stick to install using this free program.
Bootable USB Flash Drive – Diskmaker X
If your computer isn’t compatible, you might be able to upgrade to Lion. Personal opinion, I'd stay with Snow Leopard rather than Lion.

  • How can I import pictures from my iphone to PC which I imported to the iphone from another PC? The folder doesn't show on my computer. I see all other pictures I took with the phone but not the imported folder.

How can I import pictures from my iphone to PC which I imported to the iphone from another PC? The folder doesn't show on my computer. I see all other pictures I took with the phone but not the imported folder.

Photos that were synced from a computer won't show for copying to a computer. If you want to copy them back then you will need a third-party app on your phone such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer (e.g. their dimensions might be different and their colours may look a bit different).

  • How can i import tables from a different schema into the existing relational model... to add these tables in the existing model? plss help

how can i import tables from a different schema into the existing relational model... to add these tables in the existing relational/logical model? plss help
note; I already have the relational/logical model ready from one schema... and I need to add few more tables to this relational/logical model
can I import the same way as I did previously??
but even if I do the same how can I add it in the model?? as the logical model has already been engineered..
    please help ...
    thanks

    Hi,
Before you start, you should probably take a backup copy of your design (the .dmd file and associated folder), in case the update does not work out as you had hoped.
You need to use Import > Data Dictionary again, to start the Data Dictionary Import Wizard.
In step 1 use a suitable database connection that can access the relevant table definitions.
In step 2 select the schema (or schemas) to import.  The "Import to" field in the lower left part of the main panel allows you to select which existing Relational Model to import into (or to specify that a new Relational Model is to be created).
In step 3 select the tables to import.  (Note that if there are an Foreign Key constraints between the new tables and any tables you had previously imported, you should also include the previous tables, otherwise the Foreign Key constraints will not be imported.)
After the import itself has completed, the "Compare Models" dialog is displayed.  This shows the differences between the model being imported and the previous state of the model, and allows you to select which changes are to be applied.
Just selecting the Merge button should apply all the additions and changes in the new import.
Having updated your Relational Model, you can then update your Logical Model.  To do this you repeat the "Engineer to Logical Model".  This displays the "Engineer to Logical Model" dialog, which shows the changes which will be applied to the Logical Model, and allows you to select which changes are to be applied.
Just selecting the Engineer button should apply all the additions and changes.
I hope this helps you achieve what you want.

Another method is tosave your Word document as an a web page.  Then open the htm file, copy the text and paste into an HTML snippet on your web page.  Resize to show all the document and publish. It will retain the style, font and alignment of the original Word document.

  • How can i import photos from ipad to itunes, how can i import photos from ipad to itunes

How can I import photos from my iPad to iTunes on my Windows Vista PC?

I'm puzzled!  I had received a set of jpg files through an e-mail on my ipad.  For reasons unknown to me, they got saved to my (only) album, that had an irrelevant name.  When I tried to change the name of the album, I received a message that I could only change the name of the album after importing them to the computer where (as I recall) iTunes resided.  After much huffing and puffing, I managed to import the photos, to the Windows computer, but they wound up in a Windows Photo Gallery directory, where I put them into an appropriately named album.  Now, how do I get them back to the iPad.  (I also learned, I think, that iTunes will have nothing to do with the photos.

how can i import photos from iphone to pc?

For photos taken with the iPhone or saved from emails/websites then on a PC you should be able to use the Windows Camera Wizard or just copy them via Windows Explorer (there is more info on this page).
For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPhone, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.
