Do you have your system backed up to Time Machine? If so, you can open your user Library and copy your Mail folder from Time Machine to your Desktop on your new machine; then copy THAT folder to your new machine's user Library.
To get to your user Library, open Finder and Go and press the Option key. Library will show up. Click on it to get into your user Library. Now go into Time Machine and you should see your user Library for Time Machine. Restore the Mail folder to your Desktop.

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
If you're moving to Lightroom:
You need to export the images from iPhoto to the Finder, then import them to your Lightroom Catalogue.

Just install XP into a Virtual Machine. Like VMware Fusion, Parallels or Virtual Box.
Then you can run both OS X & XP at the same time. No need to dual boot with XP as it doesn't use that many rsources and runs fine in a VM.

Import photos from old powerbook to new macbook pro with time machine

Today I received a new macbook pro from Apple because my powerbook g4 was beyond repair. I would like to import my iPhoto library from my time machine backup to the new computer. I have opened up iPhoto and then time machine but it is only showing me today, not what's been backed up on the harddrive. Can anyone tell me what to do to focus it to what was backed up, not just today?

In System Preferences, Sharing, is the Computer Name of the new MacBook the same as the old PB? If not, right-click the Time Machine icon in the dock and choose +Browse Other Time Machine disks+. It should be obvious where to go from there.

How can I record audio playing on my ipad on my new macbook pro?

I am using a music app on my ipad without "sound export" capabilities. I want to record the sound using either a) another app on my ipad, or preferably b) by using the 1/8" port on my ipad to send the sound to be recorded via software on my macbook.
When trying the latter, I can't seem to get a signal. I tried all sound settings, the software called LineIn and Audio Hijak, and still no luck :/.
Any ideas?

You should be able to import photos using Image Capture (which is built in), iPhoto or Aperture. Are you using one of these programs without success? What happens when you try?
If the camera and computer simply aren't connecting, you may want to consider getting a card reader (or, if you have the right MacBook Pro and the right card, using the one built into the MacBook Pro), then pop the memory card out of the camera and connect it directly to the computer. This is a better option anyway, since it does not drain the camera's battery to transfer the photos.

Dell's drivers are only for Windows. If you can find out who makes the printer and what model it is, then you may be able to find OS X drivers for it. Or you can see how well it works using the Generic driver.

It was tele tech. I couldn't open my Page Numbers etc. Frist tech chat idiot - following dumping few things in bin, asked me yo upgrade to Yosemite. But the problem still persists. This morning I was asked to do it via telephone and like yesterday, after wasting 20 min, I was put to this apparent Tech Queen ( my foot!). She eventually decided to reinstall Yosemite asked me to connect my external drive while I connected to her. She was moving cursor asking me to move files and delete and I followed her like a dummy. It took 3/4 hours and she called me 3 times once the lengthy process was completed. I suspected from the beginng for the fact that why should be asking me to click all my backup from the very beginning! Eventually she said I deleted... Or someone else or may be my children ! It was a blatant lie. I run my small business from home and I was simply staying in front of the Mac whole day! Children were at school. Then she said I must have used another computer! I only have laptop and the iPad. I will talk to their manager first thing in the morning. In the mean time please let me know as to how can I transfer photos, music etc back to my laptop from my Iphone and IPad .? I am will connect to laptop as I am worried the new BLANK iPhoto may supersede iphone/iPad stuff? Will it? Please let me know. I am not a very tech savvy person. It sounds like you're unexpectedly seeing the incorrect Apple ID on your iPhone 5s. You can use these steps to sign out of iCloud on your iPhone 5s and sign in with the right Apple ID:
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account [Sign Out in iOS 8.] Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device.
