Possibly but it's not the same as if you downloaded the file directly to your computer. Flash video is kind of the secure way to prevent others from borrowing your video from the Youtube website. More likely you would have to do a screen capture or more or less video tape the video playing on your mac and then import that rather than import the actual Youtube video itself. The quality will not be all that great because of the intermediate step of capturing off of your computer screen.

I strongly recommend you use compressor to do the conversion (if it will open the files - since quicktime will open them, it will more than likely do it.
Compressor allows you to customize presets and save them and apply them to multiple files. Although the interface may seem daunting, it's actually pretty simple.
Even if you can edit the avi in fcp, it's not a good idea. Liable to cause problems down the road.

Are you talking about IE's MHT or MHTML format for saving webpages in a single file format?

Why each time I try to save my day's work,version WITH mark-ups and version w/o, does it say "you have placed a large amount of text on clipboard do you want to access this? What is clipboard and how can I just save my work in its proper file?

I don't get this clipboard thing! I have created two files, one for the MS with mark-ups, and one for the unmarred version, each living in their own spot in my "house." It seems to be merging the two versions and I have to go in and re-paste and then it always says "you have placed a large amount of text on clipboard do you want to be able to access this?" and it prompts me to say no but I am afraid I'll lose my day's work so I just tap cancel. I highlight the day's revision and select "copy" to paste into the unmarked doc. before I save on the marked up or working doc. It is when I try to close that one that the clipboard issue pops up. What can you tell be about saving doc. in two places and how to NOT get it on clipboard? Thanks! I am not super computer savvy so layperson's language much appreciated!

Are you using Microsoft word? Microsoft thinks the users are idiots. They put up a lot of pointless messages that annoy & worry users. I have seen this message from Microsoft word. It's annoying.

When you copy information via edit > copy, command + c, edit > cut, or command +x, you place the information on the clipboard. When you paste information, edit > paste or command + v, you copy information from the clipboard to your data file.
If you edit > cut or command + x and you do not paste the information and you quite Word, you could be loosing information. Microsoft is very worried about this. When you quite Word, Microsoft checks if there is information on the clipboard & if so, Microsoft puts out this message.
You should be saving your work more than once a day. I'd save every 5 minutes. command + s does a save.

How can I properly save a project in Photo Creations?

I love photo creations and have fun making my own cards, calendars and editing prints. When I complete a project I save it in My Pictures Folder (Windows XP ). However, when I open it up, the picture is too small to make even a 4X6 print. All of the icons that I used are in the folder) Same thing when I saved it in the Projects. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

Thanks for asking. HP Photo Creations uses the small pictures in the project folder to display previews on screen. To print a saved project, open it by clicking the Open button in HP Photo Creations, and then click the Print & Order tab.
You can think of the project folder as a big file. When you open it from within the program, HP Photo Creations loads all the little pieces automatically. There's no need to dig through the folder.

How on earth can I just make a form that people can sign??

What I am trying to do is create a contract that people can fill out by simply clicking on text boxes and then typing in their pertaining text then at the bottom there will be a signature box which they should be able to click and then have the option to draw their signature. No digital id crap, no certificates. just a simple drawn signature.
So I started with a word document. Coverted it to PDF. I have acrobat 11, I used the form wizard and let adobe find specific fields. Edited the fields to my likeing to include on signature box and then saved the document. Took FOREVER to find out I had to go through a special process of saving to allow others to sign. So I go to File- save as other...- reader extended pdf...- enable more tools <-- that allows me to allow them to sign it.
Now when I open my document with reader it has the draw your signature greyed out!!! WTH!! I need help to give that option cause this is going to old people and they can't understand the digital signature long process.

The behavior you're seeing with Reader 11 and an enabled document is normal.
You say you also tried with a version that's a "regular Save", which I assume is a non-enabled version that has no digital signature fields. In this case you should be able to select any of the options except for "Use a certificate" when using Reader. I just tested Reader 11.0.5 on a Windows machine with a non-enabled form that didn't include any digital signature fields, and it behaved as I expected, allowing me to use a hand-drawn signature. What does this show (in Reader, not Acrobat) when you select: File > Properties > Security

In case you weren't aware, when a form is e-signed this way, the form fields are flattened when the document is saved, so any forms you receive back from users won't contain form fields, making it difficult to extract the data if you need to.

Can I just save my music just to my ipod and not on my computer (laptop)?

I'm still new to the ipod, so I was just wondering if it is possible to save music only to the ipod and not the computer? I've been importing music from my cd collection, and I'm starting to run out of space on my computer hard drive.

Just a word of caution. This is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See this.

The iPod is not reliable enough to use it as a long term storage device, and these forums are littered with posts from people who decided to use it as such and ended up losing all their music.

Does the trial version save a project so I can have it in the paid version?

Yesterday I decided to get the trial version of FCPX just to test it out (I really like it btw), and did a whole bunch of work on it. Long story short I had to redo a project I had started on iMovie in the past so I started from scratch and began putting it together on FCPX Trial. But then I wondered something. I know the trial version saves my work in the trial version, but if I get the paid version will I be able to access my project there? I would hate to have to redo this thing from scratch all over again just so I could edit it on the paid version of FCPX. Do you guys know if it will work? I don't want to waste my time on something that won't save for the long run. Thanks guys!

Yes. If you buy FCPX you will be able to open libraries projects and events that were created with the trial.

Example: A resource 1 can see the Projects Project 1, Project 2,Project 3 in the project center view. So resource 1 should be able to see all the issues that are entered against the Project 1, Project 2, Project 3, irrespective of the issue that has
been assigned to any resource.

Hi,
You could simply edit the page and add the risks and issues webparts. This will display risks and issues assigned to the user.
Click on edit page, then add webpart. In the Project We App section, pick up the risk webpart and then the issue webpart. Finally drag them to the bottom of the page and close the page.

Help please: can you just save a layer?

I have created a layer that I want to use in Fincal Cut. It is a rectangle that is colored yellow. When I save it and then reopen the file, it is my box with a white background like a blank page, but I don't want that - I just want the box. Is there anyway just to save the box and nothing else? I have Photoshop CS4 if that helps.

If you have Illustrator you might want to use Illustrator and just draw a rectangle fill it with the color and export it as .ai format and bring that file into FP.
After Effects would be good for this as well.
But if you must use Photoshop use the vector tools to create the rectangle and the Path Panel to fill it and export it as a .psd and then import that but firest make the document with a transparent background.

And here in Premiere Pro it is imported ( a layered psd allows you to import any or all of the layers from the file.
In this case only one layer is imported and placed on the time line on its own layer as well and adjust to be translucent but with a totally tsransparent background so you ca see the video.
Same should work in FP

Can QT 7 save as something QT 6 can read?

I have a MOV file that is QT 7 (H.264) and I need to save it as something QT 6 can read. If I buy the PRO license is that possible?

H264 is the only new codec in QT 7 so any other format should work in QT 6. You will, however, need QT Pro ($30) and need to use Export (not Save) to convert to a diffrent compression format for the video.

Can a backup done with OS 10.5.8 work with any later OS like 10.8?

I want to upgrade my Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook 5.1 which still has the original 10.5 OS to at least OS 10.7 or later. If I buy and use Apple's latest generation Time Capsule via Time Machine to back it up BEFORE upgrading the OS, will the Time Capsule (and it's backup) still work once the OS is upgraded?

It should still be compatible with the latest version OS.. although don't quote me for Mavericks.
Be careful not to allow the TM backup to start a backup and overright the existing one.
Also you don't need a TC to do this.. in fact a USB drive will do a better job because you can then use a cloning software like CCC (free for a month trial) and create a bootable clone.. you can then also do a TM backup to the same disk.
Once you load new OS you can then use migration assistant to get your files back from either the clone or the TM backup.

The other day I had just finalized a project and went to work on another one and when I opened the project I could see what should have been there, but scrolling over the entire clip I would only see black and that the file was missing. No. It's a safety feature. Select the appropriate response and the next time you visit, you won't be prompted.
