How can I make iTunes authorize Audible files?

I downloaded an audio book from Audible.com to my desktop computer at home. Now I am traveling, using my wife's MBP, and have my iTunes library with me on an external drive. iTunes is pointed at that library and open. I am trying to sync my iPod Touch and in the books seciton, I have specified the audio books to be copied onot my iPod, but I get the message that “some of the Audible files were not authorized to be used on this computer.” How can I overcome this?

Here is a modified version of one of Doug's Scripts. My modification was to add Sort Name to the list of tags that could be changed. I tried it on a single track and it worked. I recommend backing up your library first. Select the tracks you want to change (or all tracks) and run the script from the Applescript Editor. If it works as intended, save it so you can apply it to newly imported tracks. And, yes, I know this isn't the exact answer to your question, you want to change a preference setting in iTunes (if there is such a setting).

shoo: if i had to do that for every file i get i would go insane, as scott said, post contract: files that they (sub contractor) supply you, presume them ok unless you KNOW otherwise, or a copyright flag pops up contradicting ownership.

Via Finder certainly, but not in the menu. You can view the file path in the Spotlight search results display by pressing the ⌘ key (while hovering over a file in the results), though. The path will display at the bottom of the Quick Look output, or cycle through that location.

You can get from Microsoft, the flip4mac free player. Since Windows Media Player for Mac is no longer supported, this is the way to go.

In my opinion, it is by far the best solution for playing .avi or .wmv files, because you get all the advantages of Quicktime.

There is another point:
if you are using JPEG images together with SWF as output file format, you could get smaller images by:
1. using the Export For Web menu for generating size optimized JPEGs in PhotoShop opposed to Save As JPEG
2. stripping all color management (ICC) information off the files (SWF is not very good in color management besides sRGB, I think…)

The easiest way is by targeting the Loader object.

or

will both work. And you can make it visible again if need be using the opposite of those commands.

If we assume that you have a LabVIEW application running on your cRIO that is exposing some data through web services, there are a couple of possibilities.
You can create a web service call that returns the log data. In order for the browser to treat this as a file, you must set the correct content type in the http header. To do this you can't use the default form of data output. Instead you must create an "httpRequestID" input to your web service VI. With this you can call "Write Response.vi" to give the log data and "Set HTTP Header.vi" to specify the type (text/text probably works for a log). You can look at "examples\comm\webservices\address book\FindContacts.vi" to see an example of calling these 2 VIs. Once you create that web service entry point, you can set that as the URL of the hyperlink control and it should work.
Another option is to have the cRIO application write to a log file that is under the root of the web server running on the machine. (This is the same place the xap for your Web UI Builder application is put.) This file could then be served up through the web server just like any other file.
With either of these solutions there may be concerns about the browser caching results rather than requesting new content each time. There are additional values that can be set in the http headers with the first solution that can help with this, but I think there is still some variation between browsers.

If you are ripping CDs, you can rip with iTunes and the tracks will be added to your iTunes library without manual intervention.
But if you already have the files, or are using something other than iTunes to rip, you will note that iTunes does not automatically detect when new files have been placed in a folder. You can add this capability by using a 3rd party program such as iTunes Folder Watch.

I love how iTunes organises my media files. But I need to keep my movie purchases on a different, external HD with USB 3.0.
Creating an alias of the folder "Movies" I've copied to the HD and moving the alias back on place into the user's local Library ends in disaster. All movies that have been in the folder before moving it to the new HD are still playable.
All newly purchased movies are downloaded out of the "Movies" folder at top level directory instead on the external HD. I can copy them to the external HD aliased "Movies" folder, but they won't appear in iTunes after dragging the files onto the iTunes window. I get an error message that says, the appopriate folder is missing. What can I do to make iTunes accept the aliased "Movies"-Folder as default for purchased movies?

iTunes is very good, and has been for years, at totally ignoring alises and symbolic links, particularly when another drive is involved. If you want to keep movies on a separate drive you will have to take a humbler approach and drag them to the external drive, then add them from there (hold down the option/alt key while adding to iTunes so iTunes doesn't copy them back to your main drive). Maybe some day in the distant future the programmers of iTunes will realize many users have to use external drives since the ones supplied with the computers these days are pretty small (my 12 year old computer has a bigger drive), and if Apple wants people to buy huge media files from the iTunes Store they need to factor this into design. PDFs are not designed to be editable. Your engineers can make comments using Adobe Reader without any extra steps provided they use the highlight and sticky note comments. If you want them to have access to the full range of comment markup you will need to use Acrobat to apply extended rights to the file.

How can I prevent iTunes from copying files to C drive?

I keep all my music files on my D drive. When I installed iTunes, I made sure that each song title in the library was linked to the mp3 on the D drive. Recently I found about 155 music files that are now duplicated in a folder on my C drive named "iTunes music" Most the file modification dates are either 9/11/2010 or 10/25/2010. I tried to think of any action I've taken that might have caused this. The only unusual thing I've done recently with iTunes is try out a new accessory called TuneUp. I've used it to find album art and find details about some songs that were missing, like what album the file came from etc. Is it possible that TuneUp is creating new modified versions of the music files rather than applying the updated data to the original files on the D drive?

That sounds like a good guess.
I know nothing about TuneUp or how it works, and I can't recall where iTunes keeps it's Artwork, but they may very well be related.
Is your settings in iTunes for copying files/where they are stored correct? Perhaps installing the 3rd party application made a change to your settings.
Try tracing back one of the files to your library and see if you can identify an action you took that created the files. For example... look at one of these suspect files and find it in the iTunes library. Sort your music by Date Added and see if you can find a correlation.
