I have Primary and Standby Databases I need to know how can I change the recover mode to Real Time Apply?
I run the following queury in Primary Site:

RECOVERY_MODE
MANAGED
I have oracle 11g R2 / Windows Server 2008 R2!
Logs generated and transfered successfully!

Yes. If you do it through the settings on the iPod and have an older iPod, make sure the iPod is charging either via a computer or wall charger. It can takes hours to erase an older iPod.

How can I make my new AirPort Time Capsule with VOIP?

I purchased an AirPort Time Capsule because of the modem capability. The modem we have from the phone company isn't very good.
Now I have a little problem. I forgot we have our phone over internet and I cannot figure out how to set it all up.
Any ideas for my latest problem? I'd run back to the store/genius bar, but it's a ferry ride away and I'm not sure it would do any good to go back because all my phone "stuff" (cords, etc) wall jacks, is all here.
Current set up is this:
Modem box has ethernet (yellow) cable going from it to imac. It also has blue cable going from it to ATA Router (smaller black box). Each box (white larger "modem" box, and black smaller ATA Router) have a phone cord going from wall (2 separate jacks) to the box. And obviously each has it's own power cord.
I tried moving all plugs from white modem box to AP TC, but there really isn't a phone jack on back of APTC. It clicked in place in one of the <--> ports, but I'm getting a flashing amber light on the front, and no internet connection.
Any ideas for my latest issue?? I know so much more about computers than I ever wanted to know, but it obviously isn't enough.

I purchased an AirPort Time Capsule because of the modem capability.
There is no modem in the airport routers.. they are all plain ethernet routers.
It sounds like you have adsl modem.. and I would just leave it alone.
But if you want to play and your ISP supports PPPOE and the modem allows bridging or bridge mode.. then you can bridge the modem and use TC to establish the link to the ISP.. on the internet tab use PPPOE and put in your ISP username and password.
You can then plug the ATA into one of the LAN ports of the TC.
Overall this is probably not a great idea.
Exactly what modem are you talking about .. make and model from the base please?? Who is your ISP?
What model is the ATA? Actual model numbers from it please.
Generally you will plug the TC into the modem and use simple bridge mode.
Even though the airport wizard might attempt to take over as main router.. please do the setup manually and choose bridge mode.

How can I make a backup without Time Machine?

I'm finally upgrading to Mountain Lion, but my Seagate GoFlex harddrive isn't letting me backup via time machine. do I have to reformat the harddrive to be used with time machine? or is there an app I can download so I can get a clean install of OS X without having to loose any of my files or apps?

The disk for Time Machine should be firmatted as HFS+
If you want to do a backup so that you can do an erase & install, I suggest that you make a bootable clone with either CCC or SuperDuper.

How can I monitor bitrate in real-time?

I would like to inspect movie segments for max bitrate... not the average movie bitrate but the actual bitrate at any moment. Is there a tool, plugin, or app (player) that can provide this information?

I have the same need to monitor bit-rate, but just Mpeg II files on authored media. I am trying to author DVD's with the maximum allowable bit-rate so as not to over run or crash older players. I found this little FREE app just recently: "MacDVDBitrateParanoia.app"

It was a free download from softpedia. Even the read me didn't have a developers page in it. It is as good as Free gets though. Quickly displays a graph of a DVD's bit-rate. Not frame accurate - but really lets you see the range quickly.
I remember Media Cleaner did this for all codecs back inthe pre-osx and pre compressor days when I used it.

Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID. If you bought all of the books with the old ID then AFAIK you will have to continue to use that ID in order to continue to sync those books to the iPad.
You have to update the app with the old ID so I don't see how you could keep the books with the new ID. Maybe I am wrong about this, but someone else will chime in I'm sure and correct me if I am wrong.

There are three ways.
1) By using incompletion procedure by using OVA2 T.Code which is already discussed by Raja.After this assign this incompletion procudere to your document type in VOV8 and also check the box incompletion messages.
2)By using SHD0 T.Code.
Goto SHD0 T.Code.
Enter the transaction code as "VA01".
Select the transaction variant as "BUS2032".
Two programs will appear .Select the last one(BUS2032_4480).Click on details.
Search for the field "VBKD-KDGRP" using "CTRL+F".
Against that field tick the mark Required.
Save.
3) By using SE51 T.Code.
Enter the program name as "SAPMV45A" and screen number as "4301".
Select Layout editor.
Click on Change.
The screen layout will be opened.
Select the field "Customer group" and double clik on it.
Attributes screen will be opened.
Goto Program tab and for the Input field,tick this and for input select the option required from the dropdown.
Save.
Now If you then you can find it as mandatory.Among these three you can use any one.

Question on 'WITH SESSION SHUTDOWN' clause
While googling I've come across the following variant with an additonal 'WITH SESSION SHUTDOWN' clause
ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE WITH SESSION SHUTDOWN;What difference does this clause bring ?
Is this claused used to enable Active Dataguard feature or 'Real Time Apply' or both ?It has multiple options based on startup type

Behaviour of v$standby_log; during real time apply...

hi,
i would like to understand the behaviour of this view, during REDO APPLY or real time apply using standby redo log configuration. as in my db, when there is a apply in progress i see the status column having value ACTIVE and DBID column has value of standby DBID where the apply is in progress and then status column goes to UNASSIGNED value and DBID column has no value inside it....i mean blank......why is this so? request you to please help me to understand this....following is the log

These standby redo log file groups can contain either of thread 1 or thread2, Multiple threads are used in RAC environment.
In general architecture, Once if any log switch (or) redo log is full then these will be dumped into archive log files, then it will assigned to new redo log files. Here in primary redo log file, you can see the status as Current, Active, Inactive so on.
During real time apply, whenever data written into primary redo log files, At the same time log writer will be active and that will be assigned to the one of the redo log file..not redo log file, you have to say standby redo log in standby database.
here unassigned means, this standby redo log file, can be used for next time, might earlier status as "active". Whenever standby redo log file is active then only DBID you can see.
If its in unassigned it will be idle, again if any new allocation then these will become active. its like chain/loop. It is very much normal behaviour.
UNASSIGNED - Online redo log has never been written to. This is the state of a redo log that was just added, or just after a RESETLOGS when it is not the current redo log.
ACTIVE - Log is active but is not the current log. It is needed for failure recovery. It may be in use for block recovery. It may or may not be archived.
