How can I move a mailbox folder and messages in it to a My Documents folder?

I use meailboxes in Mail to keep project communications in while I am working on them. When the project is completed, I would like to move that mailbox and all its contents to a folder in My Documents. How do I do that?

Hello:
When you export a mailbox, it is exported with a .mbox suffix.  You would need to import it to read it.
I thought about what you want to do...
If you use Time Machine, you could simply delete the folder you are finished with....you could always retrieve the entire mailbox or specific messages.
I do not know of a way that you can simply move the messages to someplace else on your system.

The only way to remove photos from the Camera roll is to delete them. You cannot move them directly from the Camera roll to another album.
Sync the photos to your computer, remove them from iPhone and resync the photos to your iphone.

  • IOS 7 back ground makes it difficult to read the text.  How can I change it in mail and messages?

    HI,
iOS 7 back ground makes it difficult to read the text.  I know I can't change it in mail and messages, but Apple really needs to allow some customization.  This is really difficult to read for older eyes.

yeah I agree with all you guys statements, the color scheme on IOS 7 *****,
I am having to constantly turn on off on off on off  "invert color" mode just to switch between
the home screen, typing, and reading text messages, its an absolute pain!!
I never had any of this trouble in IOS 6.
What they SHOULD do, is make 2 different color schemes
    one LIGHT color scheme,
and one DARK color scheme, for those using "invert colors" frequently.
See, what Apple doesn't seem to understand is, when you turn on "invert colors",
the lock screen turns bright WHITE, so you have to turn invert colors OFF just to read the lock screen,
then back ON when you want to type an email, read a text message, etc etc, then turn it off again when
you want to play a game.
and see, after awhile, when you switch invert colors on off on off after so  many times, it drains on the devices resources, & you have to reboot the device to get accessibility options working again.   I have to reboot the device several times a day now just because of that, when its just a simple fix of adding a darker color scheme as a 2nd or alternative option.
I mean, even as a normal sighted person, turning on invert colors is annoying when your at the lock screen or playing a game, think about those of us who depend upon it just to read text on the screen..  VoiceOver has the smilar issues when you have to turn it off on off on all the time it drains the system resources of the phone also,
    so I agree completely...
but ya know, they don't listen to us...  cuz its an option they don't use, so they don't understand... If they used that option for even 5 seconds, they'd understand what we're talking about....  What Apple should do is hire one of us as a beta tester to help them test out these types of issues,  from one of us like myself who knows a thinkg or two about accessibility options of the phone.
I've been an Apple idevice fan for years, but, IOS 7 was a major disappointment in the accessibility arena..
    kind regards,
    Tom

  • How can I move all my emails and mailboxes from my Powerbook 10.4 to a new MacBook Pro running Lion?

I have an older PowerBook (OS X 10.4.x) and I need to move all my Mail (including mail I archived to folders) to a new Macbook Pro running Lion.
Can I just move the Mail directory (/Home/Library/Mail) and com.apple.mail.plist from the Powerbook to the MBP?
I noticed that the Mail directory structure on the MBP is different in Lion than the Mail directory structure on my PB OS X 10.4.
I didn't want to overwrite the Mail directory on the MBP and find out I corrupted Mail on the new MBP.
    Any advise would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

The safe "step 1," of course, is to keep an unaltered copy of the 10.4 Mail folder and plist so that if something bad happens on the new machine, you just throw out that folder and plist and try again.
The safe "step 2" is that instead of dragging the folder into the same place on the new Mac, you can copy it to a separate location, like a temporary folder in Documents, then in Apple Mail in your new Lion MBP, use File/Import Mailboxes. It will ask you where the mailboxes are, and after you point it to that folder, I'm assuming it will import and convert them to the new format and place them in the correct sub-folders. If it goes well, you can then delete the temporary copy that you made for import purposes.
The 10.4 plist might be too old since it's 3 major versions later; you can try putting it in the Preferences folder, but it seems safer to note all the settings in 10.4 and re-enter them from scratch.

  • How can I move the download backups and backups folder to a new location

I am using Lightroom 4.3 on a windows 7 64 windows computer with two hard drives.  One dedicated to running programs and the larger one for storage of all my other stuff.  Well my backups and download backups folders are on the smaller drive and I need to move them to the other larger drive. Can I do this without totally freaking Lightroom out?  Thank you so much for your help.

I am not familiar with the technical term "freaking Lightroom out", however, Lightroom doesn't care where the backups are. You can do anything you want with them, and Lightroom will work fine.

  • Can I or how can I move my "Project Library" and "Event Library" to an external hard drive and work from there?

I am running low on hard drive space and would like to move my imovie "Project Library" and "Event Library" to an external hard drive.   I cannot figure out how to find these libraries on my hard drive to move them.    How do I tell iMovie to look to the external hard drive to find them?

You need to do all moves from within iMovie so you do not break the links between your projects and your events.
First you need an external drvie that is formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled). FAT32 drives will not work, but can be reformatted using Disk Utility.
In iMovie, click VIEW/EVENTS BY DISK.
In the Project Library you should see all properly formatted disks as well as your current projects. Hold down the Command Key as you drag the small icon for the project to the small icon for the external drive in the Project Library List. Repeat for all projects.
Now do the same for the Events. Command-Drag the small icon for the Event to the small icon for the external drive in the Event Library List.
Note: If you drag, rather than Command-Drag, you will Copy rather than Move.

  • How can I move my address file and mail folders from one drive image to the active drive?

I have a drive with recovered data from a crashed drive. How do I import the Thunderbird address file to the new, current drive ( also the mail folders ) ?

Look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_how-to-find-your-profile to locate your profile on the recovered disk.
If you are just starting TB with a new profile, the simplest thing to do would be to copy the recovered profile to the directory where your current profile is located. Then switch; see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles to switch to the other profile
If you have stuff in your current profile you need to save or merge, let me know and I will give you further instructions.

  • How can I move Thunderbird data back and forth between computers like Outlook import/export of a .pst

I want to regularly temporarily move my Thunderbird data to another computer running Thunderbird and then back again later. I am not permanently migrating. I do not want to move all my data from one machine to the other, just my Thunderbird folders, tasks, address book, etc. In Outlook this is accomplished simply by exporting the .pst on one computer and importing on the other. Is there a simple way to accomplish this without using Windows transfer or duplicating everything in Gmail?

    Thanks for the information.

  • How can I move Snow Leopard mail POP messages on one computer to a Mountain Lion Computer

After seeing my iPad3 up close, my friend bought one so he could read his email while watching TV downstairs.  But that's when we discovered his iMac was processor-limited and couldn't accept LION (and the CLOUD)...  In an effort to "get a computer on the cloud", he bought a used Lion-capable computer and attempted to use his Time Machine to bring the newer computer up to speed.  All's well, except that he can't seem to move several hundred old (but important) messages to the new computer.  Appears that the Snow Leopard backup on Time Machine can't do the job.  I'm embarrassed that I didn't catch the failure to put iCloud on his computer and am a tad bit frustrated trying to get my arms around the problem...  Need some help.

    Some things to try:
    1. Go to Applications>Utilities>Migration Assistant and try remigrating the User Account with the mail messages from the Time Machine backup.
    OR
    1. On the old computer, copy the contents of the Mail folder (Library>Mail) for the user to a USB memory stick or similar. On the new computer, select and drag the contents of the Mail folder to the Trash. DO NOT EMPTY THE TRASH!
    2. Quit the Mail program on the new computer.
    3. Use the files on the memory stick to replace the files you dragged to the Trash in Step 2.
    4. Launch the Mail program on the new computer.
    5. If the program doesn't work "correctly" or starts doing unexpected things, use the files that are in the Trash to replace the files you copied over in Step 3.

  • How can I transfer Android ringtones, alerts and messages to my iPhone 5c?

I just got a new iPhone 5c and I want to be able to use my Android ringtones, messages and alerts on it. How do I transfer them in iTunes?  It did transfer the ones that are actually music but not the others, the main ones I use.
Also is there an app that will announce who is actually calling you, by name? or sending a message?  Like "new message from Chelsea"?  "Call from Zac"?  I got used to hearing these that I am missing it on the new phone.
I do have an iPad mini so I'm not an extreme newbie but I never had my messages come through on it.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • How can I move my catalog and pictures to a new computer?

I'm using PSE 6 under XP.  I want to install PSE 8 on a new Win 7 computer.  How can I move all my pictures and my currnet catalog to the new computer?
    Thanks,

Install PSE 8 on the old computer and convert your catalog to PSE 8 format there.  Then use the backup/restore method in PSE 8 to move the catalog and photos to the new computer.  See these FAQs for details:

  • Can any one tell me how can I move to a different folder pictures, that I've cloned, without them staying aggregated? They all come together to the other folder and I don't want that- thanks

Can any one tell me how can I move to a different folder pictures, that I've cloned, without them staying aggregated? They all come together to the other folder and I don't want that… thanks

There's more to it than that.
Folders in Aperture do not hold Images.  They hold Projects and Albums.  You cannot put an Image in a Folder without putting it in a Project or an Album inside that Folder.
The relationship between Projects and Images is special:  every Image must in a Project, and can be in only one Project.
Images can be in as many Albums you want.  Putting an Image in an Album does not move it from the Project that holds it.
You can make as many Versions from a Master as you want.
What you want to do may appear simple to you, but it still much adhere to how Aperture works.  I still can't tell exactly what you are trying to do (specifically: Images don't live in Folders; moving an Image from a Folder is non-sensical).
It can be very confusing (and frustrating) to get going with Aperture -- but it does work, and can be enormously helpful.  If you haven't, take a look at the video tutorials on Apple's Aperture support site.
I feel as though I haven't helped you much -- but we need to be using the same names for interface items in order to get anything done -- and my sense is that you still haven't learned the names of the parts.
