How can I "outline stroke" a dashed stroke?

Hi!
When you have a dashed stroke and you try to apply on it the „outline stroke” command the result is one single rectangle. But I need many small rectangle. Any Idea?
Sorry for the english.

Joe.

Thank you Jesse it works but there is a little different. It works by "Object > Flatten Transparency" on CS1 Macintosh version and it works by "Object > Expand App.." on CS4 Windows version.
Thx a lot.
Best Regard.

How can i outline a visual shape made of a group of elements (vector shapes) without outlining the individual elements or margeing them togeather. I would normally go by marging them togeather but client requested they be unmaged

    Here is another way
    similar but a little different
    group the objects
select the group in the appearance panel and go to Effects>Path>Outline Object
then add a new stroke to the Group
then select that stroke in the appearance panel and go to Effect>Pathfinder>Add
the go to Effect>Path>offset path if you wish to give it some space around the object like such

  • How can I outline signature pic in Mail

Whenever I put a jpg in mijn signature (preferences) and edit it to outline to the right.
It puts the file right in the signature window. Once I close it and start a new mailmessages the jpg is on the left again.
Going back to the preferences the jpg has been placedon the left again as well.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
I don't want to manualy outline the jpg in every new mail I write.

Janice, I have a group named 'UGC' - if I type all three letters it does not autofill in the names anymore.  This made me very annoyed.  But if I type just 'UG' it prompts me with the last letter of the group name and then it does autfill the member names.  Weird.  This works in To: CC: and BCC: fields

  • My dashed line is rendering with a box outline. How can I fix this?

    Hi,
I am trying to create a dashed line with the simple line widget - however a box is actually appearing in the final page (in addition to the dashed line), as below:
How can I adjust it so only the dashed line appears? I can't see any options for it.
    Many thanks,
    Jeremy

Check that the widget itself hasn't got a stroke applied to it.
Can I also recommend you have a look at my latest widget, which gives you full control over frame borders.

  • How can I change a brush stroke to a pencil stroke after I've drawn it?

How can I change a brush stroke to a pencil stroke after I've drawn it? Is this possible?

    h,
As I (mis)understand it, (in effect) just by clicking the Reduce to Basic Appearance button in the Appearance palette (and setting the desired Stroke Weight, if different from 1pt).
The Pencil Tool creates a uniform width path like the Pen Tool, producing Anchor Points like the Artbrush Tool. So when you reduce to basic appearance you will get a path corresponding/identical to the one you would create with the Pencil Tool.

  • How can I get an ucropped image in a Custom Package when using Stroke and/or Border??

How can I get a picture in a Custom Package that has a Stroke and/or a border and get the image shown fully, and not cropped in one way or other?
When I add the stroke/border it adds them inside the cell, thereby altering the ratio of the area for the picture inside it, which crops it in some way. How can I get the image to be uncropped?  The controls available seem to all be for the ration of the outside of the cell, but my image is inside the stroke/border and nothing seems to work on it directly ...
    Many thanks,
    Gary

Perhaps I misunderstood your requirement.  I have been frustrated by LR print module and labs effectively squeezing individual shots into existing frames. So I have used LR2Mogrify to export (and then re-import) a 'new image' which manages the discrepancy between a crop and a cell of a different aspect ratio by adding padding - usually 'white' - around the image to a canvas corresponding to cell dimensions. Adding stroke borders can be accomplished in Mogrify inside or outside the image.  A custom package, with multiple cell dimensions can be populated with images created in the corresponding aspect ratio(s) for the relevant cells.
I'm not aware of a way of automating the creation of cells in a page to dimensions which change with the crop as discovered  - drag and drop images onto a blank page creates cells of the same standard size.

I'm probably misunderstanding what you want, so I'll just ask. Is this it?

I have made a swirl, but the allign stroke inside, and allign stroke outside are greyed out. Why? And how can I fix it?

Thank you, that kind of explains the why. Is there a how? Meaning is there a workaround? Basicly I have two strokes. One white thin stroke on the path (black background), Now I want my second stroke (which is a blue gradient) to start from the path and continue inward, as if it was "alligned innside"

  • Ary you try to tell me that Illustrator can't have a outline stroke on editable text?

Ary you try to tell me that Illustrator can't have a outline stroke on editable text? Corel Draw have this.
I don't want to change to curves my text every time. I want it to e editable.
Why I can't use a outline stroke on text?

    AU2,
You can just select the live Type with the (normal) Selection Tool, then click Add New Stroke in the Appearance palette flyout. After that you can select it with the (relevant) Type Tool and edit as you like.

  • How can I create a vector (editable) stroke?

All of the tutorials I've found address how to create a stroke from a path, but that stroke is not editable. What I'd like to do is create a vector shape that is only a stroke, not a closed shape. Thanks!

If you create a vector path and save it in the path palette you can edit it.  When you stroke a vector your laying down pixels.  Pixels can be edited however not with vector tools.  If you want to be able to edit a stroked path using vector graphics a good method is to add and empty layer and stroke that layer. When you want to edit the stroke you delete that stroked layer. Add a new empty layer edit the saved path and stroke the edited path.

  • How can jagged stroke be fixed?

Please look at the attached images. Brown strokes are showing white color in boundary with other colors. I tried increasing stroke weight(second image) but it's no use. Enlarging image doesn't help too. It's not only in illustrator, that white problem still remains when I export or save for web. How can I solve this?
    Thank you in advance.

The white problem looks like compression on the anti-aliasing. What settings are you using, are you at a very low quality jpg?

  • When drawing with the shape tool in Flash how can I vary the stroke width?

I created an oval shape and I'd like to vary the stroke width so it's not all just one uniform thickness. However in the Properties window I can only find the uniform stroke width and style options (solid, dotted, hashed, etc...). How can I add some tapering?
    Thank you for your help.

You probably need to convert the line to a fill and then change the shape of it. .. Modify -> Shape -> Convert Lines to Fills

  • How can I change the default fill and stroke colors for new shapes?

As you can see in the following screen recording, after I change the stroke and fill color, all my subsequent rectangles are created respecting these new colors. But then when I delete all the rectangles, choose the rectangle shape tool once again, and start creating new rectangles, they start getting created with another color I had used some time ago (and I don't know how did it become the default color).
    http://tinypic.com/r/64jrwp/6
So how can I change the defaults, so that the fill color is say #ddd, and the shape has no stroke at all?
    Thanks.

When you have the shape tool selected you will see in the tool bar below - file edit etc a fill and stroke. This is where you can change the colours.
You can keep drawing your shapes like you did in the video but then select the rectangle and change the colour from this tool bar. The reason it changes will be because you changed the colours you were using (foreground / background) that display in the left side tool bar.

  • Something is gone in Indesign menu. I dont know why, but the «textwrap» is gone and «stroke». How can I fix this?

Something is gone in Indesign menu. I dont know why, but the «textwrap» is gone and «stroke». How can I fix this?

When you switch active Extension Set or enable/disable extension(s), Extension Manager will create/update PluginConfig.txt. InDesign will read this file at launch to determine which extensions (plug-ins) should be loaded or not. If this file doesn't exist, InDesign will load all extensions. Also complicated dependency relationship exists among extensions. I am not sure how these extensions ran into incorrect state.
If sometime you have to use Extension Manager, you have to reset the state BEFORE launch it. Otherwise Extension Manager will recreate this file based on incorrect database records and file state.
    1. Delete "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6/Configuration/DB/ExMan.db".
    2. Delete all files in  "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6/EM Store/InDesign CS6"
    3. Delete all files in  "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6/Mxi Flag/InDesign CS6"
    4. Move all files in "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/InDesign/Version 8.0/nb_NO/Extensions/REMOVED" to the parent folder "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/InDesign/Version 8.0/nb_NO/Extensions".

  • How do i get an outline stroke without initial stroke in CC?

    Hi,
I need an outline on a stroke that i drew but when i apply object>path>outline stroke i keep getting my initial stroke applied as well. I only need the outline, not the initial stroke. I use Illustrator CC.
    Thanks

    Hi Jacob,
i never had that problem before. I always assumed Adobe products were rock solid!
Illustrator failed on me twice today, when it also stopped in the middle of a process.
    I guess nothing's perfect
