Hi Ken, there is an app, Contact Sheet (http://itunes.com/apps/appiota/contactsheet) that will not only print your contacts, it can also print the pictures! This app can be used to back up, share, or extract information from your contacts. You can select which contacts to use by creating a group and you can choose which fields to include. So, for example, if you were creating a phone list to distribute to your bowling group, you could just include names and phone numbers and not include address or other information that people may not want shared. It can even be used to send group emails and group text messages. Please check it out!

Depends on how big the file is. If itis only a couple of pages, or mostly text, the easiest way would be to e mail it. If it is a very large file you are going to need wifi. Take both pads to starbucks, and e mail it from there. Or if you have wifi, use drop box, for example.
Your other choice, avoiding wifi would be a bluetooth type transfer. There is an app call bluetooth file lite that reads like it will do what you need. The good news is it is free. The bad news is that it has terrible ratings. For grins, i am installing it now on a pad and a phone, and will see if it works.
With a bluetooth method, you need both devices in the same place. If you are trying to send your file across country, bluetooth will not work for you. you need e mail or drop box type solution, and if the file is big, you will almost certainly need wifi.

It's not a file, so you can't "open" one file. Every message (and note) is a single file on the computer.
This Applescript will grab all the notes in the selected mailbox (i.e. the selected Notes item in Mail) and put them in a textEdit document.
Note that Mail doesn't differentiate between a note and an email message, so if you run this while a normal email mailbox is selected, it will gather all of your email messages.

I run a natural food grocery store and am considering using iPads as our checkout device. (We currently use iMacs, which are nearly 5 years old now.) I think I could set up a nice system using FileMaker Go. I have done quite a bit of searching, and I don't see a clear answer as to how and whether I could print receipts on an industrial-quality receipt printer, wireless or otherwise, from the iPad. I'm not interested in anything that has a slow response time or requires printing through a separate computer (otherwise, I'll stick with using iMacs!). The receipts must be printed quickly and on the spot.
Apple's Camera Connection Kit appears to be a straightforward way to get a USB port onto the iPad, and I assume (correct me if I'm wrong) I could get multiple USB ports by attaching a self-powered hub to that port. So that should take care of the input devices, namely the barcode scanners and credit card swipes.
But it sounds like printing requires an additional application or a driver. I don't even have an iPad to test yet. Can anyone clue me in?

You cannot connect a USB hub to an iPad and you cannot connect just any USB device to an iPad via the Camera Connection Kit. The only supported printing from an iPad is using AirPrint which is supported by only a few printers, which won't meet your printing requirements.
I suggest sticking with iMacs, although I don't know why you don't use a standard cash register system.

Printing a phone book (or an 'Address Book" as ontacts Help refers to it) is done directly from Contacts, and does not involve Pages. Details are available in Contacts' Help files. Try searching 'print phone book' (without the quotes).

First off, you've posted in the Tiger forum, even though your profile says you're running Snow Leopard. Even worse, you're asking about Leopard. You need to be sure you post your questions in the corrrect forum.
As for the question itself, all you have to do is select the Group you want to print in Address Book, choose Print, select 'Pocket Address Book' from the pop-up Style menu, check the attributes you want included for each contact, and the paper size you want to use and Print.

I have a hardrive with about 200 video clips and need to print the titles for cross refrerencing. I was just going to "grab" screenshots but this will take about ten sheets of paper. How can I print out a list of all the files on the drive?

I tried this Finder drag method & discovered that it is very important to set the blank TextEdit document to plain text before the drag (from the format menu or with Cmd-shift-t). If you don't, TextEdit attempts to load the content of the files!
Once I discovered this, I tried the method with Find (Cmd-F) results & it works for that, too. This means that by choosing the right combination of search location(s) & search criteria, you can extend the method to filter the list to just about any files you want, which could be very handy.
For instance, set the "Kind" criteria to "QuickTime Movie" & location to "Computer" & you get a list of every QT movie. Or set the search location to the folder containing the movies of interest & you get all of them, including ones in subfolders. You could also use the 'date created' or other search criteria to filter the list to a specific subset of movies (or whatever).
If you need to do this often, you could create one or more 'Smart Folders' with the criteria preloaded for each search.
The only drawback I see for either Finder based method is the full path one. If you are getting results from just one or a few folders, Find & Replace can delete any of the path name fairly easily, but it becomes a chore if there are a lot of different ones. Some other text editor, like TexEdit Pro, that supports grep searches would be handy here, but since I'm not up to speed on grep, someone else will have to explain how to use it for this, if they want.

Assuminh your profile is correct that you are running OS X 10.5.8, you need the version of Pages from iWork 09.

There is a long tedious way to print your contacts from your iPhone if you like. I'm assuming you do want to print directly from your iPhone, which means you either have an AirPrint capable printer online and communicating with your iPhone, or you have a printer communicating with your iPhone using some specific printing app (e.g., Epson iPrint).
You could then open a contact, take a screen shot (by clicking the home and on/off buttons together), and then print that screen shot (from your camera roll, which is where it will be stored).
That's a lot of trouble, but if you just have a handful of contacts and no computer from which to print the information, that would work.
