How can I put in a cd in my new iMac?

I bought the new imac and i don´t know how to put in a cd. Should I buy something or is just i´m not looking in the right side of it?
Thank you

If you're using the current iMac, there is no optical drive. You'll need to use an external drive or one in another computer.
If you're using an older iMac, the drive is on the right side of the computer. In very old iMacs, it's at the front.

Restore the backup of your library from the old drive?

How can I open my .cwk files on my new iMac OS 10.8?

    Alas, you can't.
You can open nearly all of them. Pages will open AppleWorks 6 Word Processing documents but not AppleWorks 5 ones.
Word Processing documents can be opened directly only in Pages.
Draw Documents can be opened directly only in EazyDraw (the more expensive version from their website, not the cheaper one from the Mac App Store, and you will need v4.0 'Retro' not the most recent version) or Intaglio (though this appears not to be able to handle very complex drawings). (It's possible to copy Draw documents into a Word Processing document in order to open them in Pages, but you need AppleWorks to do this in the first place.)
Spreadsheets can be opened directly only in Numbers.
Presentations can be opened directly only in Keynote.
Nothing will open AppleWorks databases or Paint documents: the only way to access them is to open them in AppleWorks and export.

  • How can I put OSX 10.7 on a new Macbook Air. Maverick no longer allows "open file in a new window" and I really miss it. At the Apple Store they told me it can't be added to the new OSX 10.10 so I  want to change the OSX on the new Macbook Air and it

I have been using a 2012 Mac pro to do HD video editing. I bought a new portable Macbook Air only to find that Maverick no longer has "open files in a new window" which I use all the time in the very large folders of video clips and royalty-free music. I asked at the Apple Store how I could get this back on the Macbook Air and they said it couldn't be done so I thought I would re-format the HD and install 10.7 on it and was notified by the Macbook Air I can't put 10.7 on that computer. Apple use to give this as an option but now they have gone more to the attitude of "Do it our way or go to ****!" In anger I went out and bought a Dell Laptop and Pinnacle Studio 17 which I have been learning to use. I have been an Apple/Mac user since 1979 and would still rather do my video editing on a Mac. Is there any way that I can force the Macbook Air to let me load in OSX 10.7 where there is still the option to  "open files in a new window" or is there a way to add this to Maverick? The experts at the Madison, WI Couldn't give me any help on this.

Choose Preferences from the Finder menu, click on the General tab, and uncheck the box to open folders in a new tab.

  • How can I still edit my iWeb site on new iMac

My mid 2007 24" iMac which has served me well has memory problems. I now work with much larger projects ( Logic Studio + video ) than earlier, and have to continually keep clearing the memory as I work. I have the maximum  4 GB RAM  ).
This is halting progress so seriously that I'm considering changing it for a new iMac .... 27".
My question is: How can I still edit my iWeb site on a new iMac, when iLife is no longer included, and so presumably OS 10.7 doesn't support iWeb ?
    Will be grateful for insights.
    Thanks,
    SeaDream.

Well thanks. Sounds so complicated, though. Would another option be to backup my present Mac HD ( with Snow Leopard ) to an external HD and simply edit iWeb from there ?
As long as I also backed up this external HD, would this be a possibility ?

  • How can you transfer photos from iPod Nano to new iMac?

My friend has an ipod nano. Here's a photo, not sure what gen. it is.
He had a PC that no longer works and has no data left on it. His original iPod Photos were stored on that PC that no longer works.
He has since purchased an iMac and is running Lion OS X, all up to date.
The problem: He NO LONGER has the ORIGINAL PHOTOS, only the ones on his iPod Nano, that used to work with his PC, which no longer functions.
He would like to copy the photos stored on his iPod Nano, to his new iMac.
Using finder, he went to Device, then clicked PHOTOS and dragged the folder to his desktop. It said there was 1.43 GB of content.
However, all that was saved to the desktop was (see other photo) Photo Cache, Photo Database and Thumbs. There are no photos at all. What is he doing wrong? Thanks.

There are a number programs out there for recovering photos from an iPod, have a look at the ones below. If you search the internet you can find more. Just be aware that what you'll be recovering will be photos optimised for the iPod so they won't be the same quality as the original full resolution versions:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
Tansee iPod Transfer Photo Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
TouchCopy Mac and Windows Versions (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have full resolution copies of the photos on the iPod have a look here: Apple Knowledge Base article - Use Disk Mode to copy photos from iPod

  • How can I sync my iPad Contacts to my new iMac?

My iPad is set to snyc contacts in iTunes and I told it to merge, but nothing happened.  I'm running Lion on the iMac.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

If the iMac is running 10.7.2 (Lion) and the iPad is running IOS 5.0 or later then simply follow the instructions for iCloud in iCloud Setup Instructions.
Peg, there is also an iCloud forum you can post to.

  • How can i get that wallpaper picture in the new imac ad

The new Imac ad has this AMAZING picture of a multi-colored flower as it's wallpaper (maybe).  Is that picture downloadable from Apple or is it part of an app/

The best I could suggest is this.  It's close to what you're looking for, but not exactly:
    Go to http://www.apple.com/imac/design/
Click "View the Gallery" near the top.  Go to the fourth picture in the gallery.  Control click, and select "Use as Desktop Picture" if you like it.

  • How do i put software for mac on my new iMac?

i have purchased office to go in my new imac, however there are no disc drives on this computer.  I have a macbook pro that has a cdrom drive is there a way to use the drive on it to download that software?

Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination
          entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the USB flash drive. Source means the mounted CD or DVD disc.

  • How can I install Lion (10.7.5) on new iMacs 13,1

I have software and printers that will not work with Mountain Lion. Have partitioned and installed Lion on new partition using an older Mac as a slave and booting the new iMac as target disk. The Lion software installed, but now when booting Lion, partition just hangs with ghostbuster sign. Same with Lions recovery partition.
Why Apple any work arounds? Have not yet tried external drive with Lion installed. Any ideas appreciated.

New models that came with Mountain Lion pre-installed cannot run Lion. There is no known backward compatibility.
I suppose you could try running Lion in emulation using VM software like Parallels or VM Fusion.

How can i put the icloud picture into camera roll or photo stream. Any ideas?? On my old iphone ive deleted everything.

    Hello Ozzie94,
Thanks for the additional information. The camera roll is designed for photos taken on your device, or saved images from Mail and other applications. Photos synced from a computer are organized into their own album(s):
