How can I remove iCloud from my iTouch
How can I revert to synching my iTouch ONLY through my iTunes account (on my MacBook Pro)? The synching of podcasts does not work (and/or is VERY slow) and is too confusing with iCloud (oh why did I ever bother with that?!) and keeps repeating old episodes. It was FAR simpler before iCloud and it WORKED! (I am using the the latest versions of OS X and iOS and generation 5 iTouch.) I have already turned off all iCloud options on my iTouch. Can't stand the intrusion and complexity (and vulnerability)!
I try synching my podcasts (mostly from BBC radio 4!) from my laptop to my iTouch using iTunes, but this is not very reliable (it used to be, before this blasted iCloud messed it all up): some programmes don't come across (especially the newly downloaded episodes) and it repeatedly lists old episodes available on the cloud (even though I continue to delete references to these), which is really annoying, as they are just not wanted. (If I did want them, I can get them from the BBC website anyway.)
Because it is so unreliable at syncing like this (after all, it DOESN'T synch if there are differences between what is on my laptop and what is on my iTouch!), I end up having to download the episodes again directly onto my iTouch. Not only does this drain the battery, but I go to many places where the internet is very slow, unreliable and/or expensive, so I certainly don't want to download these files more than necessary.
This is one reason why I don't like the cloud approach (others being a loss of privacy and control): there are still many places (including here in the UK), where a fast, reliable and inexpensive internet connection can most certainly not be relied upon - something that the cloud approach seems to assume is not a problem. So self-contained independence is still important for me!

You have quite muddied up the waters, I'm afraid. Assuming you now have a single GUID partition formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled, you should try reinstalling Lion:

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -

Create a new ID for yourself.
Of course that will have none of your items purchase in the old ID.

My wife and I share our calendars and she uses it very frequently. Every time she enters a new event on her calendar I get a notice (invitation?) in the Calendar app, even though I am not invited to the event she created.

Thanks!You can sync photos and itunes content with one and only one computer at a time. When you sync to another, it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.

If you mean you can't get past the screen lock then:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Let me first say that I am NO EXPERT with anything Apple and really have only started looking into this iCloud stuff a few hours ago because I'm trying to help my mom free up some space on her iCloud. But anyway, here's what I'm learning and what I THINK might be happening to you.
Also, if any Apple support people (do they browse the forums to dish out helpful hints?) or people who probably know infinitely more than me about this stuff, please do chime in and confirm / correct my statements!
This is what I gather.
iCloud for Windows is set up with a local folder (let's call it "C:\Users\Administrator\Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream") where iCloud will store photos uploaded to the Photo Stream. This will allow you to view your Photo Stream photos on your PC.
This does not mean that this is a PC backup of your Photo Stream photos, but just a way to view your Photo Stream from your PC. That being said, the general Photo Stream rules apply: 1. No videos are on the photo-stream, and 2. Photos on the Photo Stream will be removed after ~30 days and/or after hitting the Photo Stream limit of 1000 photos.
My guess is that the iCloud Windows App will delete photos from the local folder that are older than ~30 days and/or delete all but the most recent 1000 items if the 1000-item limit is reached.
That is a scary thought! I really hope you did not lose all your pictures, but my guess is that the iCloud local folder is NOT meant for backup but instead is the iCloud Windows App's sandbox for updating and managing Photo Stream photos.
All that being said, I'd say it's important to back up your photos in a separate folder not related to the iCloud local folder. -
how can i remove pictures from my droid turbo without having to use the touch screen on the phone at all? my screen is cracked and i am waiting on a replacement phone. as far as i can tell in order to access the phone storage through my computer, i have to use the touchscreen to enable it so that the computer will see it as a camera. I can't do that as the top half of the touschscreen is unresponsive. any suggestions? teaches me to use the backup services offered in the future, but i still need a short term solution for this time.
I'm sorry to hear your screen is cracked spence425. I know its difficult to use the phone while its damaged. I'm happy you are receiving a replacement device. Have you saved any of your pictures and other data to the cloud? Here is a link about the cloud http://vz.to/1mF0GIx . Unfortunately, you will be unable to remove any data from the phone if the screen is unresponsive but if you are looking to transfer data to your new phone, it would have needed to be saved via the cloud first. Same as title: how can I remove something from my download list FOREVA! Why would I want to do this? Because it's a piece of poo free sampler from Best Buy that is effing huge, and terrible and I don't want it, ever (it's been stuck to my list since 08, and it must die). Every time I buy something I have to remember to go and remove that from my list, otherwise iTunes gets caught up downloading that thing, which is many times larger than any video/cd/app that I have ever downloaded on iTunes before. It wouldn't be as much an issue if I had a good ISP but I don't, so any non-apple employee people giving some smarmy "get better internets" advice need not apply.
Once an item enters the download queue, the user cannot remove it. Either let it complete the download (easiest) or contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the Contact page and ask them if they'll remove the item(s) from your queue for you.

If the pictures were synced from a computer to the iOS device then they are removed the same way. Connect the device to the computer. Tell iTunes what to sync and sync.

thank you.There is no way to do it. Others have asked for the very same thing that you are asking for, but currently it just cannot be done. You can't remover purchases from your Purchase History - you can hide them - but you can't delete them from the history.
You can delete the Apps from the iPad and you can delete them from iTunes on the computer. Delete them from iPad, delete them fromiTunes so that when you sync there is no chance that they will come back. Then hide the purchases. That's the best that you can do.
On the iPad, tap and hold down on the app icons until the X pops up. Tap the X to delete the apps.
In iTunes, clcik on Apps under the Library heading on the left. Right click on the apps that you want to delete and follow the prompts. -

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple. -

If you mean from the Updates tab in the App Store app then you can't - any updates that you've downloaded will disappear off that last in 30 days. If you don't want to install an app update then as far as I know they can't be removed from the Updates tab.
If you want to got back to a previous version of an app then do you have a copy of that previous version anywhere ? If you do then you can delete the app from your iPad (which will also delete its content) and sync back the previous version.
If you mean an iOS update that you've installed then you can't, downgrading the iOS version isn't supported by Apple.
