How can I reset an apple ID without the email or birthday?
When I was younger my parents had an earthlink account, and I bought my first iPod mini, and signed up for an apple ID. Skip to years later that email account is long gone, and my mom uses the same apple ID to sign in to both her new iPhone and the iPhone that she passed on to me. Both phones are logged in to the same apple ID, which I cannot reset because I have no access to the email, and being my young self I didn't input the correct birthday so I can't even access my security questions. Where do I go from here? I can't sign out on either device to reset them, and I can't buy anything on the stores without the password from the account.
If you have proof of purchase for the devices from an authorized source, Apple can remove the activation lock. If you don't, they are now bricks.
And please don't start about the injustice of it all. you lied about your identity, making it impossible to prove you own the account. Falsifying the information was a violation of the Terms of Service for an Apple ID and iCloud, and if you were under 13, falsifying your birthdate so that you could create an account was a crime.

I recently received an iPhone 4 from a friend of mine who got it from someone else (The person is unknown to me and him). The first person didn't tell my friend that the Apple ID was still on the iPhone and he did not tell him what the Apple ID password was before resetting it. This is an issue considering that the iPhone was reset to factory settings, but the Apple ID is still on the phone.
You don't. It's useless. Contact the person your friend got it from. If you can't do that, then turn it over to the police or recycle it responsibly.
There is no way to bypass the activation lock. -

since you are running mt lion on the mac you can boot to the recovery partition (restart holding down command+R keys)
once booted there open the disk utility window and then on left side select the mac HD select the erase tab and make sure that next to format it says "mac OS extended journaled"
click on the erase button
once done close the disk utility window then click on the option to "install mac OS" and follow the prompts
once the install is completed and the mac is restarted it will be like new and the setup assistant will open on startup -
My security questions need to be reset. The email address used to set up the account is no longer active so I cannot get access to the security question reset information.
You will need to call Apple at 800-275-2273 and ask for the Account security department. They will have you sign into the My Apple ID site at id.apple.com using the Manage Apple ID button and generate a temporary support pin. It can be found in the lower left corner of the Password and Security section once you log in.
Once you give them the support pin, they will ask for one other piece of information from the account in order to verify that you own it. This can either be one of the current security questions, the credit card linked to the account, a device serial number, or a device verification code that they can send you.

You can get a set of discs specific to your machine by calling Apple. Cost is about $20, I believe. Be sure and have your serial number handy.
Then take a look at Thomas Reed's How to prepare your Mac for sale - that may not be exactly what you're doing but it will give your machine that factory-fresh feel.

You need to use the old ID and password to delete the iCloud account. After you delete the old account, you can sign in with the new ID in iCloud.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Sign up for what? All you need is airplay enabled on ATV, then when iPad is on the same network you double tap home button, swipe (left to right motion) and you will bring up the volume/brightness controls, along with airplay. Tap on airplay (rectangle with triangle in it) and select ATV, toggle ON mirroring.
The only way to mirror the iPad is wirelessly through ATV or by purchasing the adapter and connecting directly to your TV. Bluetooth via your Blu-Ray player won't help with this.
