How can I restore my Mail accounts from TM?

I recently switched ISPs.  So I opened the Mail preferences and deleted the POP user account from the old ISP.  Little did I realize that now I can't access all the 1000's of messages I have sent anymore!
I tried doing a Time Machine restore of User > Library > Mail... but that didn't work.
I tried doing a TM restore of Applications > Mail... but that didn't work.
What do I have to do to get my old ISP POP account back so I can access all my old messages?
I tend to use Mail as a word processor, so there's a lot of information there I need to get back.
THANKS!
jn

I figured it out.  By searching to find the missing bit.. which was in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder with the filename of com.apple.mail.plist. Note that this is not the same thing as replacing the entire /Home/Library/Mail/ folder."
But first you have to restore the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder with the filename of com.apple.mail.plist.
Then go back and restore the entire Mail folder.
WHEW!  I'm glad to have that back.  I didn't think the messages would all dissappear the way they did. I thought that only the current messages that hadn't been saved would vanish.  But no.... every email I sent for the last 7 years vanished!
I use Mail a great deal as a quick word processor replacement.  I think Apple would be smart to make a hybrid Mail / Word Processor.  I know I'd love it.
I find Pages is a pain and MS Word is an even bigger pain to use.
Good luck anyone with the same problem!

  • How can I restore a mail account with all the old mails?

I just searched the this topic list, and found some articles which seemed to address the same problem, but I was not able to restore the data.
When setting up a new mail user, we erased all the data from the previous user and I urgently need to get that data back - meaning all emails. How can I do that?
    thanks for any help,
    Alexandra

Since I'm assuming this is not an IMAP account, there are only two things you can do.
Restore the mail from a backup, if you have one (it would be in the old users home directory - in /Library/Mail).
Pay for a data recovery service to reclaim the deleted files from the hard disk (assuming you haven't over-written those disk sectors already in setting up the new user - if so, the data is unrecoverable).
P.S. If it was a POP3 account, BUT, the mail had been set to save message copies on the server, then you could recreate the previous mail account and re-download them.

  • How Can I delete a mail account from my macbook if I dont know the password to the mail account?

My cousin gave me his macbook pro in is will and didnt leave me the password to his mail account. Is it posible to delete the account? If so how?

Did he give you the software discs that came with the computer? If so, boot from the #1 disc, and reinstall the whole thing and start clean. If not, you can just create a new user account and don't use the old one. That way you can set mail up to get your own mail.

  • How can I restore Parental Control Settings from Time Machine Backup?

I was trying to adjust one of the parental controlled accounts for my child.  I disabled parental controls, rebooted, and re-enabled it.  Now all the settings that I had setup before are gone.  How can I restore Parental Control Settings from Time Machine Backup?

    Hi ...
I've found a solution to my problem.
Time Machine locates extenal HDD backups differently depending if they were done via a network or via a USB/FireWire/Thunderbolt connection.
My initial backup was done via a direct Thunderbolt connection. I ran into the above issue b/c the second time when I tried looking for the backup file the HDD was conencted to my iMac and I was accessing it via a network conenction.
I simply connected the drive directly to my MacBook pro and ... voila. I was able to see the backup, select the iPhoto library and begin the restore.
    Hope this helps.
BTW - I found this out by reading the 'blue box' selection on this page: http://pondini.org/TM/E2.html
    (Thanks goes to Pondini!)

  • How can I separate my iCloud account from my sons phone

How can I separate my iCloud account from my sons phone?

Just delete your iCloud account from your sons device. Therefor open "Settings >iCloud", scroll down, and delete your account (don't worry, it will only delete the account from your sons device). If he also uses this account for iTunes and App store purchases and you would like to change that as well, then you have to do the same in "Settings > iTunes & App Stores".

  • How can I restore a single image from an aperture time machine backup, do I have to restore the entire library? that does not make sense

I hope there has been found a more efficiant solution for this,  how can I restore a single image from an aperture time machine backup, I really hope I don't have to restore the entire library? that does not make sense
    any suggestions?

Did you try browsing your backups in the Finder ?  That is, do not go and "Enter Time Machine".  Instead, navigate to your Time Machine backup via Finder and then manually go to the time period (by folder name) you are looking for ... when you find your Aperture library you can then "Show Package Contents" and find the Master you are looking for.

  • TS2776 How can I transfer e-mail contacts from one IPad to another?

How can I transfer e-mail contacts from one IPad to another?

Depends on how big the file is.  If itis only a couple of pages, or mostly text, the easiest way would be to e mail it.  If it is a very large file you are going to need wifi.  Take both pads to starbucks, and e mail it from there.  Or if you have wifi, use drop box, for example.
Your other choice, avoiding wifi would be a bluetooth type transfer.  There is an app call bluetooth file lite that reads like it will do what you need.   The good news is it is free.  The bad news is that it has terrible ratings.  For grins, i am installing it now on a pad and a phone, and will see if it works.
With a bluetooth method, you need both devices in  the same place.  If you are trying to send your file across country, bluetooth will not work for you.  you need e mail or drop box type solution, and if the file is big, you will almost certainly need wifi.

How can we delete the icloud accounts from main website.Iam trying to log in to my account and it says that MAXIMUM NUMBER OF FREE ACCOUNTS ARE ACTIVATED?What can i do guys plz tell me?

You can't delete an account, you can only stop using it.  If you're getting that error message you won't be able to create a new account on your device.  Your only options are to re-use one of the accounts previously created, or create a new account on a different iOS device or Mac (running OS X Lion or higher), if you have one.

  • How can I delete my icloud account from my iphone, since it doesn't synch with my ipad?

How can I delete my icloud account from my iphone 4, since it doesn't sync with my ipad mini?

Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address (you shouldn't need to verify the old account).  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
