How can I see shared review comments in a PDF when connected to a SharePoint server over a VPN?

I am using Acrobat Pro XI on Windows 7.
When I issue a shared review, hosted on our work SharePoint server, I always encounter problems when accessing my work network from home, over a VPN. My comments do not get published, and I cannot see comments that reviewers have published.
I issue the review PDF as an attachment when I open the review, and all reviewers save a local copy of this file. When I open the PDF, the "Welcome back to shared review..." screen is never updated with the number of comments. The server status always seems to show green, but the comment reporting mechanisms do not behave as they do at work. When I click Publish comments, I am usually asked if I wish to take ownership of unpublished comments by other reviewers (to which I click No). When I return to the office, everything seems to "just work" again. But this is hugely inconvenient if I am out of office for days on end.
I had this problem with my previous version of Acrobat, and no satisfactory solution was ever reached. I am most dismayed to find it is still present in version XI.
Please can anyone advise?

I don't know if you solved this issue yet. But we have the same issue in the pass, and clean the log files under "\Synchronizer\resources\" folder seems to be a solution. Here is the thread talking about it.

    Ok I solved it myself. Not an ideal solution as I have to connect it manually each time but it will do... Unless anyone has a way to have it auto connect when I start the mac.

  • How to restore shared review comment back to PDF?

    Shared review backups the comment in XML files. If I lose the comments, how can I restore the comments back to PDF? 
    I try both import comment and import form data using the XML file, but nothing shows up. It seems only FDF or XFDF file works. Do I need to convert the XML file into FDF or XFDF? If yes, how?

    Acrobat doesn't import the XML file directly that is used in the Shared Review process.  Attempting to build the importable files is not pretty either way.  I wouldn't recommend doing this but you can do it by hand using the XML file data into the correct file syntax for proper import but you need to be familiar with the FDF or XFDF file format.  Otherwise if you are familiar with XSLT and doing transformations you should be able to do it that way too with an custom application.

    Could you try to edit the question information as you have displayed personal information such as email addresses. This is a google searchable webpage and so the whole world, including spammers can see the email addresses.
    If you use Reply or Reply all the info you describe is not inserted because the person(s) receiving it already know their own email address as they sent the email in the first place.
    If you use Forward then you are sending the info to another person. They of course will not have received any email, so will not know who has received it, hence the inclusion of email addresses.
    So it is all logical.
    i'll have a look to see what if anything can be changed.

    I changed the font on my mom's iphone 5 to a larger size (but not the largest available) so it's easier to read. However, now when trying to view one of her contact's phone numbers, the number cuts off at seven digits and follows with dots, for example "(123) 456-7..."
    Perhaps it's a silly question, but how can I view the entire number without reducing the font size? When I try to select the number it dials the contact. I wouldn't want to cut and paste, or copy it every time just to see the entire number. Any help would be much appreciated!!!!!

    The contact in which the photo does appear (along with the contact's name as well) is one that I added myself. I have photos added for many of the people in my Contact List, but neither their photo nor their name appears to me whenever they call or text me.
    I know how to add a photo to a contact's information within my Contact List. I need to know how I can make that photo (or even the contact's name) appear whenever I have an incoming call/text from them. What I am seeing is just their phone number, and I do not know everyone's phone number well enough to recognize from whom I am getting a call/text. It would be much easy if their photo or name appeared instead.

    This is a semi-rhetorical question: I have now resolved this for my own setup, However, there was very little information on this error in the fora, so I thought I would post my experience with getting a Time Capsule (2TB, 3rd edition) to work on OS X Lion after the AFP/NAS debacle.
    Background
    My third party LaCie Big Disk Network* NAS died when Lion came out.
    I could access neither Time Machine nor the drive through Finder.
    The excellent thread on "Lion: Connecting to legacy (pre-Lion) AFP services - and Mac OS X (server)" (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3258472?start=0&tstart=0) allowed me to access the drive via Finder to save my files but, of course, Time Machine was still broken. That guide showed you how to lift security restrictions on AFP shares.
    For reasons explained below [disclaimer: rant follows] I decided to ditch the LaCie and purchased a Time Capsule.
    The Problem
    Time Capsule connected via DSL to the net and set up a wifi network with a green light.
    The "Data" mount for Time Machine was visible in Time Machine, but trying to access it showed the following error:
              The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error 13)
    Trying to open the share in Finder using the appropriate credentials showed:
              The operation cannot be completed because the original item for "Data" can't be found
    Things that didn't work
    Turning lots of things on and off
    Resetting the DSL modem, the router (Time Capsule), the computer
    Repairing permissions
    What DID work
    Undoing the modifications made during the process of mounting the old LaCie NAS
    To do this, open Terminal and enter:
    sudo -s
    chmod o+w /Library/Preferences
    cd  /Library/Preferences/
    rm com.apple.AppleShareClient.plist*

    Then restart your computer.
    This worked for me. I don't UNDERSTAND any of why this did or didn't affect the computer, so please don't ask me to explain how it worked or what else to try. I thought I would just put this out there for knowledge.
    * LaCie have really got my goat. Unlike other manufacturers who seem to be trying to provide support for their drives (Western Digital MyBook), LaCie have stated outright that they will not be providing any updates for their Big Disk Network. This is a hard drive they describe as a "Professional NAS", though I can't think of many professions where £200 backups need to be replaced every two years to keep abreast of security updates. In their defence, the drive is no longer manufactured… but, IMHO, I don't see that as sufficient reason to abandon all support or updates immediately. Boo! On the upside, loving my shiny new refurb Time Capsule.

    4. Reboot the whole network and restart it in order.. modem.. TC.. MB Air.

    The worst possible is Mavericks. If you are trying to connect to old backups after an upgrade it is hopeless.
    I recommend you start over.
    Simply wipe the TC and start afresh.
    Manually mount the TC disk in Mavericks so you are sure it is working. Tell us if you run into trouble.
    Most important.. in wireless network preferences are you running ipv6 in link-local mode.

    My HP notebook 64 bit Windows 8 after the last iTunes update will detect my iPhone 5, sync and when finished with thy sync I start a backup to my computer.  It runs fine for a bit and then gives me message I have changed settings on my iPhone 5 and asked me if I want to update.  I OK the question and runs a bit more and then drops the connection telling me cant find my iPhone 5.  I can restart iTunes and start over and does the same thing.
    ITunes update 11.1.1.62 had difficulties with the updates on 64 bit Windows 7 and 8.1 causing an error on boot other trouble.  I found solution on research that insturcted to Remove iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Support and Apple Update and reload iTunes old version.  I simply reloaded the new version becasue did not have the old version of iTunes.  I have been working fine with the old version.  I know problem is a simple setting somewhere but it is NOT SIMPLE to me since I dont know where the find the simple setting.
    Will someone tell what to do.  I appreciate all you smart guys.

    My apologies...the version is 11.1.4.62 not as stated aboive in my problem description.  I'm trying again and it just finished syncing fine and my iPhone 5 is still connected to iTuns physcially with USB lightening cable and is displaying the iPhone icon top right.  I clicked on it and iTunes is now "hung' or  locked up.  Shows to be an active running application but can't get back to it so willl have to kill with task manager.  There is some kind of problem going on with the latest version of iTunes and Wndows 7 and 8.1 or something.  My iPhone 5 now has a new feature that it is now asking me if I "Trust" this computer.  iTunes just came "unhung" after several minutes while I was typing this. Now I am going to start the backup to this computer HP Winsows 8.1 and iTune 11.1.4.62 and see what happens.  Says it is Backing up Jerrys iPhone but the Barber Pole progress bar is not turning an iTunes is hung again and I cant get back to it from this page I am typing on.  Maybe it will eventually release as it did a moment ago.

    You cannot simply legislate the size of a PDF file. If you content is primarily text and vector, there is not much at all you can do to reduce PDF file size other than to cut out content. Otherwise, the only other variables are those of downsampling and compressing the raster images from your content.
    You must be very careful in choosing the PDF export settings. The “smallest size” settings yield PDF files that realistically really are not fit for printing and may mess up any CMYK colors. The “high quality print” and “PDF/X-4” settings yield best print output, but yield the largest PDF files since they do less image resolution downsampling and only the maximum quality lossy JPEG compression.
    I would recommend that you start with either the “high quality print” or the “PDF/X-4” settings and make a custom set of export settings. Assuming that you aren't going for offset or gravure printing, change the color image and grayscale image downsampling values from 300 and 450 to either 200 and 275 or no less than 150 and 225. If that doesn't give enough file size reduction, change the compression image quality from “Maximum” to either “High” or no less than “Medium.” Beyond these changes, you may end up with PDF files that will neither print nor display with any reasonable quality.

    I have a Microsoft Publisher document that I need converted to PDF. Typically I have no issues converting from Publisher to PDF (and usually can just do it through the "save as" feature in Publisher.) However, this particular file is laden with graphics and therefore very large. I was able to convert it once, but it made some of the graphics as blank boxes. When I try again to convert, it gives me an error message.
    Is there a way to conver a LARGE Publisher file to PDF without losing any of the images contained within the document? Please help!

    Try emptying the Temp folder. Are you using PDF Maker (not sure that is available for Publisher) or the MS plugin? If PDF Maker, try turning off the tags and reducing the amount of bookmarks needed to a minimum. As an alternative, simply print to the Adobe PDF printer -- will typically give a smaller file and not run into these creation problems for large document, but you will not get bookmarks or such in the conversion process.

    I have hundred of photos on my site, and the recent ones are built using iWeb 08, which allow to have comments on each photo. Which is nice.
    But how can I see if somebody commented my photos? I tested and added a comment on one photo, and I see something in the right lower corner of the frame, but only when the photo is still loading . I guess there should be some indicator, like in Mail?

    But I think it's bug, because in the Help it say: +To display an indicator on photos and movies on a Photos page that have comments, select "Display comment indicator".+
    So, I guess that the little thing I see in the lower corner, when the photos are loading, is indeed the place where the indicator should be.
    Because otherwise it would be a pain to open each of the ovet 1.000 photos to see where it's that comment...
    This forum doesn't allow attachments, so I cannot attach a capture, but one can check on my website (the signature), then Photos > Sicilia 2007. The second photo on the first page is commented by me, as a test, and (sometimes) it shows something in the right low corner just before fully loading.

    Give Read per Axis Status.vi a try. According to below extract of the help, I'm not shure if the Motor Off bit will reflect the axis enabled/disabled status.
