My Mail program has gone south on Leopard on my 27-month old Macbook. I can't send, even though the server details are correct. I tried reinstalling the Mail program from the install DVD, but no go; apparently that two-year old Mail is no longer compatible with my up-to-date Leopard. I tried deleting the account (hotmail) from Mail and setting up a different account (Yahoo). After loading all the inbox two things happened: first, I still couldn't send, and second, when I closed the Mail window the whole inbox then disappeared and doesn't come back. Although I couldn't reinstall the Mail program from the install DVD, would it still be possible to reinstall the whole system from that DVD? If I do, will I lose files or will there be another problem since that DVD is now over two years old?

P.S. I've just noticed that now I can't change the desktop picture: I go through the motions in Preferences, but the new picture doesn't appear on the desktop. Is there a systemic problem?

You are waiting for an apology to something that happened over a year ago? Really? This is why there is a manager in the store. You have a problem with an employee you speak to the manager. Just like you did on the phone. You would have gotten your apology in July 2013.

I can't find a preference to keep mail on the server as it's deleted on individual devices. We have 4 Mac devices and a PC running W8 with the iCloud control panel. How can we keepthe mail on the server as it is deleted from the individual devices?

Yahoo and Gmail both support POP if you wish.
All modern email systems are Imap (because it supports multiple and mobile devices)
I do not recommend POP under any circumstances, it can not be synchronized so unless you do not use Mobile devices at all (iPhones etc) it is useless.
Yahoo users (search this site) have endless problems and Gmail is highly non-standard. Expect a learning curve for that one.
Are you short of server space, why do you need to do this rather retrograde step?

just create an ODBC of your database from control pannel -> administrative tools -> data sources (ODBC) ,double click it .....
go to the tab SYstem DSN , click on ADD button. select the driver for your connection. it will be the last one in the list "SQL Server".
click Next then give ur DSN name there, description and Server Name , on next give your username and password of SQL server. when it will be connected to the server celect your database from there and hence there will be an ODBC bridge same as in case of MS Access.

I have added many accounts in my Gmail account and i've selected "Reply from the same address the message was sent to" in Gmail option. So whenever i reply to any mail, it automatically sends from the account on which i had received the mail.
How can i get the same configuration in Apple mail?

In the 'new message' window click the three line option button to 'Customize…' the window.
Enable the 'From field' & click OK to save the new field settings. If these accounts are setup in Mail you can now select them when replying or sending new mail.
Also check the 'Mail > Composing tab' preferences. There is an option to 'Send from selected mailbox' that may help if Mail is setup with all of the relevant email accounts.
Otherwise you may need to log in to gmail on the web & reply from there. Apple Mail cannot understand how gmail & forwarding from other accounts is setup so it cannot try to reply from another account that isn't setup on the Mac.

You will have to use java.net package for tht.. Through applet you will have to make URL connection to your servlet.whc u will make by using java.net.URl

This is the code I use to send mail, it's not specific to gmail, but it works. The "props" object expects the usual mail properties, "mail.smtp.host", "mail.user" or "mail.smtp.user", as well as "mail.smtp.ssl" which you'd want to set to "true" if you're using gmail. It also expects "mail.smtp.passwd" or "mail.passwd" which my gut tells me is unsafe, but I'm not sure why.

Nobody in my office can send emails today. All eight of us can access the Internet and send emails normally on our computers.
When attempting to send a message I get the following error message:
Cannot send message using the server mail.ourserver.org
The server response was: 1060208403
We are using Port 26 to send email.
Our web/email host did not find any issue with the mail server or with our account. They suggested it's a problem with our mail client.

It would appear somebody needs to connect into your network and/or your client system(s), and to dig around.
So there are presently eight separate systems have eight separate cases of the same problem, and your email vendor says it is a client issue?
Ok; that would not be my first guess here.
An initial suspicion would involve hardware common to all of the client systems. At your network, wireless, router(s) or switch(es) and/or at your firewall. At the connection with your network and the rest of the Internet.
And a look at the email vendor and the vendor's server(s), since the vendor is also common to all eight clients here.
Has anyone been working with your DNS, firewall or other such? (I'm going to assume not, but it is worth a mention.)
Use of port 26 is odd. I'd expect port 25 or port 587. Can you confirm that port? Port 25 is comparatively unusual for sending email of late; many entities now use 587.
Are you running a local email server? If so, that could be having an issue. I'd expect to see a local SMTP email server connect to the next SMTP server via port 25 or potentially via 587.
Can the clients make connections to other networks and servers; are other web servers and sites accessible? If so, that tends to rule out the common pieces of hardware; hunks such as the firewall and the Internet connection.
There's no obvious translation of that specified error code; that's not an SMTP error, nor is it visible anywhere on the 'net. It may well be something from the client, or something from the network somewhere.

How can I automatically connect to the server without having to type the password and click "connect"?

I have a Mac OS X 10.8 and a Time Capsule configurated as server with a name "Servidor" on my home. The discs are protected by Accounts, so, each person can access the server by typing own name and password. The problem is... Every time I start the computer, I see the window below:
So, every time I start I have to type my name and pass. And the box "Remember this password on my keychain" doesn't work because the "Password" is always blank when I see the window, like the image up.
Please, someone help me to automatize it so I don't need to type nothing to connect to the server. I want something that do it automatically for me.

Try running KeyChain First Aid if you have not already done so.
Open Keychain Access and click on the KeyChain Access menu at upper left of the screen
Click KeyChain First Aid, then close KeyChain Access
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
Open Network
Click on AirPort or WiFi on the left
Click Advanced at the lower right
Click to highlight an old network that you no longer need, then click the - (minus) button to delete the listing
Do the same for other neworks that you no longer need
Make sure there is a check mark in the box that reads "Remember networks this computer has joined"
No other boxes should be checked.
Click OK, then click Apply
That is about all that you can do.

How can I activate T3s at the server

Hi, I have configured a new T3 for a secific server and config looks good.
But on the server side I cannot get the T3 connected,
after cfgadm an d/or devfsadm the new t3 coonection are not shown.
there are still old connection which are no longer availabe and also
I dont know how do get this away.
Also a reboort -- -r doesnt help

ok, after devfsadm -C, nothing changed.
Still at the server side I see old T3s which we had re-configured to another server and there all is fine. So I normally know the steps.
The new configured T3 (new as it was complete rebuild by SUN) is setup for 2 servers.
On Server A all is find with same commands, nothing special.
On Server B I cannot get the new T3 connected as the old ones still there ??. Old T3 connection are unconfigured but devfsadm -C does not clean it.
Dont know how to clean old T3 connections.
We are not using a switch, mpxio is enabled.
