How can I share an iPhoto-created pdf on the web or via email???

I design photobooks for clients in iPhoto and often use the Print feature to save a book file as a pdf that I can easily review as a final pass. Once or twice I've burned a book draft pdf to a CD and send it to a client for preliminary viewing, comment, and further development requests. That's slow, clunky, and expensive compared to being able to either posting the pdf somewhere on the web that my client can access or email them the pdf (which is usually much bigger than my Mac mail account permits).
Can anyone tell me how I can turn my iPhoto books into a view-only file that I can easily share online with my clients? I'm also about to create a marketing web site for my little design studio and I think understanding this better will help me figure out how to post selected excerpts from the variety of iPhoto (and also Bookmaker) books I've designed and produced over the past year or so.
thanks in advance for any help and ideas you can offer!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There is a 3rd party application, pdf-RecoverPro, that will let you lock the file to printing, changing, etc. You set two passwords, one to let the user view it and one to unlock the restricted features. Just provide the first password and send the file. You can try the demo version. It just saves one page in demo mode.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How can I launch or open a pdf from the Web using Reader X?

Before I upgraded to Adobe Reader X, I could click on a file to download from the web and it would give me the option to Open, Save or Cancel. Now that I have upgraded, I only have the option to Save or Cancel. Often I would rather Open the document to see it before deciding to save it or not. Is there a Setting or Preference somewhere that will bring back the Open option? btw, I'm using Windows 7 as my OS.

How can i share documents with different users on the same mac?

Shared how? The other users can read the documents or you all can read and write the documents?
The first is easy just place the documents in /Users/Shared anyone can access the files there and the other users will be able to read them.
The second is a bit trickier.

Another method is tosave your Word document as an a web page.  Then open the htm file, copy the text and paste into an HTML snippet on your web page.  Resize to show all the document and publish. It will retain the style, font and alignment of the original Word document.

  • How can you share a iPhoto library with another account user

I have recently seen the light and swapped from Windows to my lovely new iMac. However I am rather confused how I can configure my iPhoto library so my wife can view the same library in her account on the same machine (this was a simple thing within Windows, using shared folders). Am I missing something or do I have to duplicate the same library and place into my wife's account and then update each time we upload some photo's? Please help!

This may not be the "neatest" solution possible, but it's one that works. Just as iPhoto makes it easy to share photos between computers on the same network, you can also share photos between accounts on the same computer; but you'll have to be logged in with iPhoto running.
    1) Configure iPhoto in your account for photo sharing (from iPhoto, select Preferences > Sharing> Share my photos).
    2) Enable fast user switching from System Preferences > Accounts > Login Options. This is the key to the process, which will allow you to remain logged in while your wife is also logged in. It's also a very handy feature if you and your wife use the computer a lot from your own accounts.
    3) Enable "Personal File Sharing" and "Remote Apple Events" from System Preferences > Sharing > Services. [I had already done this step, so I'm not sure if it's strictly necessary]
    4) With iPhoto up and running in your account, use Fast User Switching to log into your wife's account (ie, you remain logged-in). [The Fast User Switching menu will be in the upper right of the main menu bar.]
    5) From her iPhoto preferences, select Sharing > "Look for shared photos" if it's not already switched on.
Your photos will magically appear in the left hand column of your wife's iPhoto application using the name you designated in your copy of iPhoto.
Caveats: performance is not very good, you must be logged in and have iPhoto running, HP printers (if you have one) don't work well with fast user switching
Other solutions might be possible by "drilling a hole" into your account by altering the Unix permissions. I've used this technique to make my iTunes library available to other users on my machine. Such a solution would no doubt improve performance.
Finally, there are third-party products that allow you to manage multiple iPhoto libraries. I've never used these, but they might allow you to load the iPhoto library from another account assuming permissions are properly set.
Hope this is of some use; I'm sorry if it's a little more complicated than you might have expected.

  • How can I share my iPhoto library with my wife's iPad?

Is it possible to share my iPhoto library (Yosemite) with my wife's iPad? She doesn't have a separate mac, but she does have her own apple ID.

    No
You can share selected photos using PhotoStream - you can not share the library
Next year the Photos App for the Mac should be able to share the library on iCloud using iCloud photo library

  • How can I share my iPhoto Library over internet

My friend and I want to share our iPhoto Library(size 5.19 GB and growing). We don't live together so we are not on the same network.
We were really hoping we could do this with mobile me. This is what we thought we could do with mobileme(but later found out it's not possible). Not possible but this is what we want to do: *We thought we would be able sync our iphoto library. This way we could work on or off line, make changes in iphoto have it auto sync and when he went to iphoto he would see the changes I made and he could make changes and I would see them when I went to iphoto. No one would have to manually sync or have to remember to sync.* On Mobile Me the sync function doesn't do it with iphoto. Are you aware of a company, software, or service that would allow us to do this?
Of if you don't know of a way we can have it sync then do you know of a service that we can store our library on and work from. The key would be to be able to work on the file while it's on their server at a reasonable fast speed. Doing it this way nothing would be physically stored on our computers. It would be stored on somoene else's server.
*Below are our options we are aware of using mobile me*(We are looking for other options:
We thought we could use mobile me to sync, but it doesn't sync iphoto. We could use idisk(in conjunction to or .mac account). We would upload the library to idisk, then when we wanted to use it we would download it to our computer make changes and upload it and the next person could do the same. The only problem is with it being so large it takes a very long time to upload to idisk/.mac account and up to now I haven't been able to get it up on .mac(I just got off the phone with mac and we tried everything and it the idisk sync just fails everytime.)Even if it did work it's not what we are looking for. The other option I am aware of would be to use *Back to My Mac*(also part of mobile me). This would entail both of us leaving our computers on(not in sleep mode) and we could log on to the other computer and grab what we want make changes and return it.
If you have other ideas please suggest.

YOu can share photos via web galleries but not the iPhoto library directly - and even if you were on the same network there is no ability to sync two iPhoto libraries
As to ahving your iPhoto library on the internet - no to that too - even a wireless connection to the library does not work - too slow and too unreliable - putting it on the net is not possible unless someone comes up with a giant step that direction
in addition to web galleries you can upload to your iDisk or to a third party service - Back to my Mac I guess would be a way - you would have to update yoru computer and your buddies doubling your work and increasing the time a lot more than that

  • How can I make MS Word create PDF's again? After cancelling Adobe cloud, Word can no longer make PDF's. Worked before I used Adobe Cloud.

Hi. I can no longer create PDF's in MS Office. Before I installed and ran Adobe Cloud, this worked. Now, after cancelling Adobe Cloud, Adobe has also shut down the PDF feature that worked without problem before. Adobe now wants me to subscribe to make Acrobat work. No way. Worked before so it should not have been withdrawn. Can someone tell me what I now need to do to re-enable the PDF feature in MS Office? Never had a problem with it before. If this happens every time that I subscribe and unsubscribe, then Adobe need to pull their finger out and stop tampering with other programs.

Depending on which version of MS Office you have the Microsoft Save As PDF option is either an add-on or a feature.
If you are using MS Office 2007, then  it's the Add-on and you need to either run repair for it from the Add/Remove Control Panel or reinstall the add-on.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7
If this is a later version of MS Office (2010 or 2013) then the feature should be available and you should run repair from the Add/Remove control panel.

  • How can I extract pages from a PDF? The Tools menu is missing.

I used to be able to extract pages from my PDF file. I don't see the tools icon anymore. How can I access the tools icon?

    Hi lenm,
To extract pages, you need to use Acrobat (not Adobe Reader). As I can attest (because I do have both Reader and Acrobat installed on the same computer), it is quite easy to open files in Reader when you mean to open then in Acrobat. So, please make sure you have the right app open. (I pull this one all the time!)
Now, if the Tools menu is missing from Acrobat, choose View > Show/Hide > Toolbar Items > Show Toolbars to make them reappear.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara
