How can I stop iCal from popping up for no reason ?

Since today, my iCal is popping up as an opened application for no reason and I've had, up to now, to quit it 3 times. It's really annoying. I don't even use iCal anymore since I have BusyCal, which is a better version of iCal, but a totally different application.
How can I stop iCal from popping up for no reason like that. Please, anyone, help me.

What exactly is triggering this, are you clicking on some kind of file?

How can I stop iCal from trying to connect to the server during corrections?

Recently, my iCal lost the connection to my gmail calendar (and my wife's), and as I was trying to fix it (by replacing the @ in the server address with a &40-something), it turned out that iCal started trying to connect again - but this time it had lost the proper password.
Now, it says something like "Server connection error: make sure you have the right password" - and then I'm supposed to click OK. When I do that, iCal immediately starts trying to reconnect, and I simply didn't have time to change my password or anything. Back to square one.
I figured I should reboot, but the iMac won't let me shut down before I've shut down iCal, which again can't be done before the "Server connection.."-dialog is closed. Back to square one.
My system is OS X 10.6.7, on a 2011 iMac.

Quit iCal from the dock. To do this, click and hold on the iCal icon (in the dock), and select Quit from the pop-up menu and release the click to Quit the app.
If that fails, then click on the icon in the dock again (and while still holding the click on the icon ) press the Option key, and select Force Quit from the pop-up and release to Force Quit the app.
I'd go after the iCal server setting via the iCal > Preferences > Accounts panel, if that's not what you're trying here.
And if that fails, then reboot (probably unnecessary, but...), disconnect from the WiFi, launch iCal, and clean up the configuration error that way. iCal should get a different error on a network disconnect, and should then let you access the preferences.

How can I stop ical from deleting time information from event titles?

I sometimes like to put times (e.g., 10pm) in the titles of my events. I do this because I want to see the time in the event title for certain events. Apple's ical thinks it knows what I want (it doesn't!) and deletes this information from the title, probably to schedule the event at that time, which is ridiculous because I sent the time of the event when I create it. This is especially annoying because I want the time in the event title for a reason. I can't figure out how to turn this function off. Apple, if you're reading this, please add an easy on/off switch to this "feature," (or better yet, remove it). In the meantime, does anyone know how to get around this?

Enter them in a format that Calendar doesn’t recognize as a time.
Or go back and edit the title after it recognizes the date/time info.

How can I STOP ical from deleting all my events after a month or so

No matter how I set the preferences/settings it always keeps deleting all events after 30 to 40 days.
I have gone into preferences and checked off the
"DELETE EVENTS AFTER...
and put 99 or 999 days and it doens make a difference
If Ileave the box unchecked - it STILL doesn't make difference
Anyone has a suggestion?
as I keep loosing all the important info/phone numbers I enter.

Are you using any sync software?
The easiest thing to try is to refresh the the com.apple.iCal.plist file. You will find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the com.apple.iCal.plist file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart, and make sure the deletion preference is not checked.

How can I stop iPhone from prompting me for a phone password?

I used to use a password to protect my iPhone but I turned it off because it really slowed me down.
Under General I set Passcode Lock to OFF. I set the Auto-Lock to NEVER.
But every time I touch the phone icon I get this message: PASSWORD INCORRECT Enter voicemail Password. I can't make calls or do anything unless I type CANCEL. But now I can't use my visual voicemail any more. Because of this I have been missing a lot of calls.

Its actually asking for the password you set up when you created your voicemail on the iPhone. If you enter that voicemail password correctly, that prompt should go away and you should be able to access your voicemail as well. If you don't remember that password, dial 611 from your iPhone and choose option 3 ( I think ) and it will let you reset the password.

Every time I open iTunes I am prompted four times to enter my Apple ID password. Now I know that this is because I have automatic downloads enabled but it never used to do this when I had iTunes 11, only happened since I've had iTunes 12.

How can I stop Firefox from periodically prompting for dial-up, temporarily disabling the keyboard?

Firefox does this any time it is loaded and minimized, (so even when I am not using it), so it interrupts when using Outlook Express. The prompt comes even while a dial-up is already in progress.

I had Opera set as my default browser since this began happening. I changed my default browser back to Firefox mainly because having Firefox open one or two seconds every time I open Opera was/is such a nuisance.
I believe this problem began because I attempted to manually transfer the files from my old computer to the new one (via the backed up files in my external drive). I was unfamiliar with Windows 7 when I did this. Microsoft changed the file set up from what I had been used to in Windows XP. I used XP for six years before being exposed to Windows 7 (I never had Vista).
I'm almost sure this problem has something to do with where I placed the application data when I was trying to reestablish the program set up on the new computer.

I do not want to upgrade to 7.0, I am attending online college and the upgraded version does not work with my school. How can I stop Firefox from upgrading? I have to keep uninstalling the upgrade and installing the old one.

It's not a good idea to allow websites to redirect to another site until you know for sure the original site is trustworthy.
But if you still want to do it (again not a good idea).
Tools>Options>Advanced>General - In Accessibility, uncheck "warn me when web sites try to redirect..." option.

You can share the same Apple ID in
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID: here
But for all other Apple services like:
FaceTime, iMessage, iCloud, etc, one of you should use a different Apple ID.
