got a new laptop and need to transfer two usernames to it, complete with all documents help?

Assuming you haven't already set up a user, the easiest way is to use the Setup Assistant during first boot of the new Mac, with the two Macs connected by firewire.
You'll be prompted to migrate from a choice of sources - choose "from another Mac", select the catagories of data you want to transfer and follow the instructions.

The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintan a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.

Non-iTunes purchases cannot be transferred from an iDevice to computer via iTunes.
The simplest solution is to simply move the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer. Why anyone would choose to make life more difficult by screwing around with transferring purchases from an iDevice and using 3rd party software to extract non-iTunes purchases is beyond me.
IF for some reason there is no backup of the old computer and/or the old computer is no longer accessible, then try google for solutions.
Do yourself a favor going forward, backup your media and other important data.

There are two ways to solve your problem.
1) Configure the birthday and anniversary events you have created for last year so that they repeat every year on the same date.
2) Enter the birthdays in your Address Book for the corresponding contacts — create the contacts if you don't have them in your Address Book yet — and then tell iCal to display the birthday calendar.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload. Sign in and authorize the computer to your account before syncing.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. The best way would be to move it using an external hard drive. Then you have to move the hard drive between the two computers. In fact you could all the Events folders and the Project on that same hard drive too. And everything would be self contained. You would use iMovie to copy the Projects and Events onto the external hard drive (don't drag anything outside of iMovie, moving the files manually is NOT good). Then as a last step run the Consolidate Project command on that copy of the project on the External HD. That would get everything you needed into one spot.
But be aware, your iTunes and iPhoto libraries are going to still be on your iMac. So you may not have access to EVERYthing you need to put into the final project.

I have just changed from a PC to a Macbook pro, and want to move all my old archived messages from the past 2 or 3 years to my Mac, including non-archived messages (Sent & Trash) from this year. I have already created my profile in the new Mac, and have been using it for the past couple of weeks. (By the way, this is a POP mail profile.) Now I just want to move the old messages over. Which exact files do I copy and paste, and into which folders? If the folders do not yet exist, I guess I need to create them first. But where on the Mac? I have found (on my old PC) the "Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/username/ directory with Archives and Trash subdirectories. But each directory seems to have a name (like "Inbox", or "Sent" or "2013") and another file with the same name, but an ".msf" suffix (like "Inbox.msf" or "Sent.msf" or "2013.msf"). Thanks in advance to any who can help.

The file structure is a little complex. I will use inbox as an example.
Inbox (a large file with no file extension)
Inbox.msf ( An index of inbox with tags etc. Can be deleted with only loss of tags)
Inbox.sdb (a folder, indicating that the folder within Thunderbird has a sub folder.
POP mail is stored in
Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/[Server name]/
Local folder is stored in
Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/Local Folders/
As long as you do not overwrite, you can copy and paste whole folder trees into local folders (stuff on your old computer under a mail account is best relocated to local folder and then sorted as necessary afterwards.
Note that you should delete foldertree.json after making those sorts of copies (it forces a full refresh of the folder tree, no cache) and under no circumstances copy data with Thunderbird running. It can irrevocably corrupt things

I have around 40 of these shortcuts and want to save myself the time manually entering them one by one into my macbook.
I know where these settings ARE but I'm wondering if there's a shorter way to do this?

3 things you need to transfer music from iPod to itunes: iPod, computer, iTunes.
step 1 connect your ipod to your computer via the white USB cable.
step 2 open My Computer, or just Computer from the start menu and look for the ipod drive. It should be in the (F:) drive. You will see the ipod logo in the listing of disk drives.
step 3 Now you should have a new folder called ipod_control. Open that folder up and you should see the following: Calendar, Contacts, ipod_control, notes, photos, ect. If you are trying to save all of your music then the ipod_control folder is the only one you need to worry about.
step 3 Open the ipod_control folder then open the music folder. Copy each one of those folders (should look similar to these: F00, F01 ...) onto your computer.
step 3 Open itunes and insert the new folder you created on your computer's desktop into: library ---> Music

The procedure you describe is putting content from two different IDs into a single library, which can readily be done.
However, each item of purchased content will still be tied to the ID from which it was originally purchased, and they will be treated separately for purposes of Cloud, Match, Purchase History, etc.
