How can I turn off time display in Calendar?

The newest version of the Calendar app seems to always show the time of each event as a separate line at the top of the event listing. While this may be sometimes useful, it is mostly redundant (since the border of the event, in Day or Week view at least, indicates when it begins). On the other hand, if the information in the event is a bit longer (e.g., a location), this information gets pushed off the standard view. Is there any way to customize this behavior (i.e., to turn off the explicit showing of times)? Previous versions (pre-OS 10.9 "Mavericks") didn't have this "problem".

You can either turn the brightness on the internal display all the way down, or close the display and use the MBP in clamshell mode (with an external keyboard/mouse):

Can I turn off Time Display on my Motorola QIP 7232/2 at night without unplugging?

I would like to be able to turn off the Time Display on my STB at night. Right now, I have to place a book in front of the display as it is in my bedroom and lights up the room. The QIP 7200 STB in another room goes totally blank when the TV and STB are shut off with the remote. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a setting in the main menu to shut it off, something like Set Top Box Display, go into that and look for the option to turn it off.

The Location bar shows me the TITLE tag info for a page in large font + the URL in small font. How can I turn off the display of the Title tag, I just want to see a list of URL's. Bad design to force it that way, I don't like it. I know what a URL is.

I don't need the YAHOO. I find it so completely annoying that you have forced me to look at TITLE tags when I am trying to find the URL I want. This ought to be a setting that I could control. Mozilla hasn't changed anything like that in Firefox 3.6.x versions, which is getting security patches but not any further development of new or existing features. Plus, Mozilla doesn't install anything related to Yahoo, something else probably installed that.

There was a feature similar to what you are describing, that was in and out of the Firefox 4.0 betas last fall, but the 3.6 versions never had anything remotely like what your description has me visualizing.

Kids have multiple devices that I don't want on the network at certain hours. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security & Privacy, and then click General.
Open the General pane of Security & Privacy preferences
2. Select “Require password...NEVER after sleep or screen saver begins.” You can adjust the amount of delay before a password is required in the pop-up menu.
From what I am aware, you cannot turn off the keychain.

Thanks for replying, but that isn't the answer I am looking for. Also, there is no + sign, UNLESS you do tap the overlapping boxes.
Let me try to ask my question a little more clearly:
When I tap the two overlapping boxes on the lower left (the option to Open New Windows), the new Window that appears will show your Bookmarked FAVORITES. But with my new iPhone 6, and the new iOS 8.0.2, when I tap the two boxes to open a New Window, my Bookmark Favorites show (as they always have and should), but below them, there is a dividing line underneath them, and it says Recently Viewed Websites, and has these websites available to tap.
So my question is, HOW DO I TURN THESE OPTION OFF?
*UPDATE (10.13.14): Since I have asked this question, I no longer see these Recently Viewed Websites under my Bookmarked Favorites in my new Window tabs. So I hope that Apple fixed it, or somehow it was a mistake, or somehow I changed an Option on my iPhone 6 that stopped this for reoccurring.

With the position of the power button on the Retina MacBooks, any mistake turns off the screen in the middle of a presentation or any activity using a projector or big screen — a huge waste of time to wake up the display, enter password, have the projector sync back, watch audience disconnecting from what was being discussed, etc.
This is very annoying, and seems to add to the increasing collection of options Apple decided to make by itself instead of allowing the user to choose.
Come on Apple guys, I'm using my Mac because I want options and lots of preferences to tweak to my needs.
If I needed the lobotomized version I'd be using my iPad!
Any way (official or hack) to change this button back to its proper funcionality?

Not what you want, but you can get the shut down / restart / sleep dialog by holding the power button

I've seen it mentioned on here that a PRAM reset may solve it:
Reset PRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P and R.
You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
