How can I update from itunes 3.1.2 to latest version? It cuts out every time I try to update.
I currently have software version 3.1.2 every time I log on with my iphone 3gs, I am unable to update to latest version. It takes and age , sometimes 2 hrs and then cuts out saying ' time has run out' or something to that effect. I use windows XP. I do have quite an old computer. Someone has suggested I remove Itunes and then reload. I am rather nervous about that, in fear of losing everything!

Yes it is IOS I am referring to.
I am running version 10 of Itunes.
The model of Iphone i have is 3G - MC131B - 16gb (the old Iphone) which is running on 3.1.2
When I connect the iphone to itunes, under Version, it says there is a newer version of Iphone software (version 5.1). Click Update. I do this and then the message that comes up every time I try to upload and update is:
'There was a problem downloading the software for the iphone 'xxx' . The network connection timed out' this is often after a few hours or sometimes less than an hour.
Should I remove Itunes and reinstall?
I am trying to change networks and they ask that you make sure you have the latest software.

I have an iPhone 3G, and cannot update my iOS. In the General tab, "Upadate Software" is not even there. It just goes from "About" to "Usage". That is the highest you will be able to go with 3g. You need 3gs or 4 to go any higher (multi processors and more memory needed). Version 4.2.1 marks the end of your updates for that device.

How can I get App Tabs to automatically load a fresh version of the page every time I click on them?
I like the app tab feature and am using it for sites that I visit frequently, for example, weather sites. The problem I have is that when I click on say http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/ta/arbroath_forecast_weather.html I get the site as it was the last time I used it. Today this meant I got a weather forecast starting from 2 days ago, not from today.
I can get round this if I remember to "Reload" every time but I'm guessing that is not the way app tabs were intended to work.One of these two add-ons should do that:

I am trying to update the iPhone for my grandmother, Judy, as I am leaving for Paris on Wednesday night and we want to have Facetime installed on her iPhone before then, so we can stay in contact with each other. Thanks for your support, but I changed the TimeZone (both PC and Iphone 3GS on Istanbul GMT+2) and the problem is still there. I updated also Itunes 10.5.1, same problem. I can't syncronize or update the IOS on the phone. I'm afraid I'll have to try the complete reset to factory of the Iphone (I'm afraid sync data on the iphone has been corrupted and Itunes can't sync).
Any advice on how to save all my data, since backup function does not work because it needs the sync feature?

Whether or not you can go to the latest OS X version depends upon your hardware -

Are you using a proxy or a VPN to connect to the internet? If you are, this is possibly the reason why. I suggest using anothe connection which is not a proxy.

I just purchased an iTunes TV show and it successfully downloaded. It is now saying that I do not have the proper version of QuickTime on this version of iTunes (10.6.3).
How can a show I purchased be incompatible with the latest version of iTunes?
I want a refund, but I can't even figure out how to request one through support.
