Can anyone help me delete photos? There are old blurry and duplicate photos that we are unable to delete...

If photos were synced from your computer then they can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need to remove/de-select them from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

  • How can i view and upload photos from an older version of iPhoto which are on an external hard drive to my new iMac?  i currently have copied the application version 9.4.2. on my lacie backup and want to view and upload this to my new iPhoto version 9.5.1

our old iMac died suddenly, but i had backed up the iPhoto application to a lacie external hard drive.   however, when i try to open it in my new iMac which is installed with version 9.5.1 and is upgraded to maverick, it comes up with “cannot be opened, to open you must upgrade to latest version” and then makes you press the quit button.
the iPhoto version on the external hard drive is iPhoto 9.4.2 which i upgraded on 29/11/12 onto our old iMac (early 2007 version)
my new iMac is running on version OSX 10.9.1
i have looked at buying  iphoto library manager and have emailed them about whether this would work, but any advice would be gratefully received as i cannot be the only person that has had this problem but i cannot find any answers that work.
    thanks

YOu can rebuild with Library Manager and this does not require a purchase:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

A MacBook will use Time Machine to make local backups so that when connected to an external drive it will backup a lot faster.
to disable this, you must use a command under terminal.
to locate terminal, do a search for it under spotlight (the magnifying glass on the top right corner), should be the first hit.
once under terminal, type the following text exactly:
    sudo tmutil disablelocal
    hit enter.
you will be asked to input your password, if you do not have a password, you will have to create one before performing this command. after entering your password, hit enter again and close terminal.
in a few minutes the space taken up by time machine should be cleared.

  • How can I use Ipad to view and delete photos from SD card without importing?

Importantly I would like to view the photos from the SD card in full screen (vs. just a thumbnail) before deciding whether to delete.
It seem's that with the camera connection kit you can only view them as thumbnails before importing.
Any other apps or hardware I could consider?
Basically I would like to use the Ipad as my travel photo editing tool - specifically I want to be able to delete unwanted photos from my SD card without having to actually import them into the Ipad (but would like to be able to benefit from quality of ipad screen to actually review the photos before deleting).
Thanks in advance for any tips you can share .....

You must import if you want the iPad to have a file to display on the screen.

  • Any way to view and delete photos from a camera or card without importing?

I received my iPad yesterday and I have a Camera Connection Kit. I'd like to be able to view photos from my cf card, connected via a card reader and the Connection Kit, without having to import them. I take hundreds of pics at sporting events and would like a quick way to view the files and determine which ones are "keepers," then delete the others from the card before importing to my Mac for editing and creating web galleries.
So far I cannot find an app that "sees" the card except the native Photo app, which only allows selection for import, not zooming or deleting.
    any tips?
    thanks
    steven

You can delete images from most (but not all) SD cards with the camera connection kit. But you have to import them to the iPad first. I don't know how long it takes to import hundreds of photos, so that may not be too quick. I doubt that Apple is going to open the kit up to developers because for whatever reason they want it restricted to photos only. So nothing else, short of a hack, is going to be able to read from or write to the CC kit's SD card.
There are other card reader/viewers available on the market and you could use one of those. Some are quite inexpensive. But I honestly don't know if the cheap ones have delete from the card capabilities. Anyway, a Google search of "card reader viewers" will get you the list.

  • How can I view and delete specific documents in iCloud?

When I save a Pages document on my new iMac (Mountain Lion 10.8.2), the default location is iCloud. I have four related questions...
    1. How do I change the "Save" default location from iCloud to my iMac?
    2. How can I see what documents are stored in my iCloud account?
    3. How do I delete a specific document from iCloud once I have accidentally saved it there?
    4. How secure are the documents saved to iCloud?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, you can't if you are using iCloud.
File > Open, from the appropriate application.
File > Open. Select and delete.
They are encrypted on the servers, if that's what you are asking. Your account is also password protected.

  • HT4236 How can I view my synced photos from the computer?

I have synced my old phone onto the computer prier to getting a new one. Now I would like to view my photos from the computer. How can I do so?

    View what photos?
Photos taken with the iphone are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.

  • How do I edit and delete photos from my I Phone 4S album?

I have synced my phone with I tunes and it pushed every single photo on my computer.  I do not wish to have the entire album on my phone, only select photos.  How do I delete photos?

Thank you for the reply.  So, I guess I have to reset my phone in order to get rid of all the photos that I uploaded via the sync method on I tunes.  Pre planning is required for what photos you want to have uploaded.

  • How can I get back deleted photos from my iPhone 5?

  • How can I view and choose photos before importing from a digital camera?

    Hey,
I am using a Canon PowerShot A40 and I want to be able to (after I connect the camera and open iPhoto of course) view the pictures on the camera in iPhoto and choose individual images to import. I have 560 images, but I only want to import 3 (groan) and there seems to be no way to preview the pics before importing. So now I am importing 557 useless pics that I already have in my library just to get 3 more pictures! There has got to be a way to preview! C'mon Apple...
Anyway, someone please help me with this.
    Cheers,
    Josh

Oh, thanks Dave. I did not think Image Capture had even a useful function. heh.
Well, I used the "coffee" method (actually it was tea) and just deleted what photos I did not need afterward. It worked out, but I will use Image Capture next time.
No offence to Apple, but why the heck has Apple not included such a feature in iPhoto? I mean that is just common sense to include previews before you import God knows what, unless it takes a lot of work to make that happen for iPhoto. Windows makes it simple to preview and view images. O well, I am sure Apple will get it done eventually, but I shouldn't have to wait for iLife '08!
    Cheers,
    Josh
