thx, i can't see where you do that (access the function to slow the motion of a clip). in the help file it says to 'right click' on the clip to access those functions but when i do i get these optios below (no motion, pan, zoom, pan and zoom). i want access the speed/duration sliders.
i would say the function isn't available at all, but i could be looking in the wrong place (although i have tried everything).

Thanks - I did not realize that Homesharing can be specifically set to a photo destination like that!
So, it would appear that I can either point it to iPhoto (and folders/ events within that) OR the default Pictures folder and subfolders of that OR any other specific folder (and subfolders of that) of my choice. However, I cannot select BOTH the default Pictures folder (and some subfolder of that) AND a folder in iPhoto AND/ OR an event/ folder in iPhoto. Is that a correct assumption?
If so, the only way I see getting homesharing to get both set of pictures is to get all my picture folders (internal and external drive based) into iPhoto (without physically duplicating them) - and then pointing Homesharing to iPhoto, right?
I think you have solved my issue - but I just want to be sure of that.

How can I write a video play to support playing both 4:3 and 16:9 video

I am using Adobe Flash Builder 4 and I want to write a video player to put in my web page. It should be able to play 4:3 or 16:9 videos. How can I adapt UI when display 4:3 or 16:9 videos? Do I have to convert all old 4:3 video to 16:9 video? If I want to create or convert old video to 16:9 video, do I have to use specific codec or video file format? One final question, Does flv support 16:9 format?

Seriously, it's fully rendered. I'm not an FC ace but I didn't just start using the program. It just happens that this is the first video I'm editing that has both wide and standard aspects. I'm telling you that when I try to export in 16:9 (as in QT conversion, picking a 16:9 output) the 4:3 part on the timeline says it's unrendered, but only while the file/location box is up. If I back out totally the red line goes away. If I go ahead with the export I get a green screened mp4.

Double click on the clip to bring up inspector click on audio. Bring clip audio to zero or what ever percent you want to lower it too
Or you can select all clips and click on the blue inspector and you can change all at once.

How do I import/convert video via flashdrive to iMovie on my iMac?

I want to learn to edit the digital video files of some classes I am teaching. I assume that iMovie is the place to do that, but I can't seem to get the material onto it. After the editing, I'd like to be able to post portions of it online via YouTube or some such site. I have an iMac version 10.6.8, Snow Leopard
So far I have not been able to even see the files. When I inserted the flashdrive containing the digital video files into my iMac, it said there was no app for opening them. I searched the apps, and thought about trying the app "iVI", but didn't want to spend the $9.99 if I didn't need to. Today I downloaded the free app, "Any Video Converter". It converted a portion of the material, saying something about it not being able to "parse" portions of it (whatever that means). When I looked at the little bit that was converted, the visuals were jerky. Perhaps it was becuase I didn't know which "profile" format to choose, and they didn't offer iMovie on an iMac; the offers were for portable devices. Do I need to download another app, and if so, which of the many would be good for my purposes?
The other question I have is how to get the same information onto my MacBook, which is version 10.5.1 of Mac OSX, Leopard.
I'm so frustrated! I'm a beginner at this, and it just hasn't been the easy drag and drop I thought it would be!

The camera used to film the class was a Panasonic AG-HMC40P, owned by a local cable TV station; they use Kodak video encoding software, and a SD card was used to store the video. The file extension is .mts, and the mime file is MPEG 2 transport. He said I probably need an AVCHD converter, and the Mac app store lists 8 of those options, 4 free and 4 for up to $9.99. He said I'll also need a converter for later plans of posting on YouTube or on the website, and while some of those in the app store might work for the later needs, he knows one app called "Compressor" that would work for the uploading later. He also suggested I could try renaming the .mts file to .MP2T, but he wasn't sure that would work.
They don't work with Macs at the studio, but I had thought I could have some lessons there in editing, and apply what I learned to my iMac and iMovie.
First, though, I have to be able to see it and review it!

How can I disable .mp4 videos from playing automatically on Yahoo News? (and elsewhere)

I posted a similar question last week about disabling html5 videos and that seems to have worked. But I notice that when I look at the Yahoo News main page, some videos (thumbnails) are playing automatically as I'm scrolling up and down the page. I find that annoying, distracting, and is probably consuming data on my limited plan.
I see other questions posted about .mp4, but those are all how to PLAY rather than NOT play videos.
Any help would be appreciated.

How can I get a higher quality export from Imovie - QT & iDVD came out bad

The playback on my imovie came out corrupted but it transferred ok to Quick Time and I also burned a DVD but the quality is not very good. Any suggestions on how to get a better version. Please keep in mind that the imovie file is huge - 29Gig and the QT file compressed it down to 350Megs. The whole movie is running around 43 minutes. Any suggesstions are appreciated.

Hi - Yep I did use the crunched version for the dvd and have tossed it. I am now transferring a new version from imovie to QT under the pre set of high quality. Since this is the first time I have done a movie I am not sure what settings I would use under expert options - suggestions? I would love to tranfer the imovie right to idvd but at the moment I only have 8G left on my Mac so this would likely be a problem. The movie was exported from a mini DV.

On Youtube there are a lot of animation tutorials for PS. But essentially in this case you are moving that white streak across a few frames at a time.

I am running iTunes on Windows Vista with music, videos. This is paired to a 3GS which has many contacts on it. The iPhone is regularly synced and backed up.
I have just bought a new MacBook Pro and want to transfer my entire iTunes system over. I see that I can transfer the music library over with Home Sharing. I want to ensure, however, that when I sync my iPhone with my NEW MacBook Pro, that all the data is retained. I am most concerned with losing the contacts on the phone.
Does anybody know how I can do this? I just want to wholesale copy the iTunes environment onto my new machine, I guess.

Contacts (and Calendars) are not part of iTunes. iTunes is simply used to sync them from whatever apps you are using.
This is for Mac OS 10.4 but it will work for whatever you are now running.

Not it's only function but one for which it was most admirably suited, which is why I really hope someone can find a work around. I am hoping my post to the Apple feedback may prompt a useful response from Apple and I live in hope that my post here will elicit a useful response from another user. I did not miss the the text at the top of the feedback form but you presumably missed my initial text, 'someone here can explain' or my subsequent 'work around from another user'
Just in case anyone reading this has a large collection of music videos, video podcasts or iTunes U then DO NOT upgrade your iPad to iOS 5. If you are considering purchasing the iPad as a useful mobile device to experience these media organised in your iTunes please don't as you will be wasting your money. (unless someone on this forum knows of a way to undo the mess created by those infallible folks at Apple)

Have them install Quicktime on their PC's from Apple's website, that's the easiest fix.

How can I capture AVHDC video files from Panasonic HD video camera??

I just received a Panasonic HS300 video camera and can't copy the video files on my computer.
I see several files in the CAM_HDD camera folder on the desktop. But the only relevant files for me to copy are the JPG photos. I don't see any video files.
In the specs of the camera they write that I should have a Mac with an Intel processor. Is that the problem???
I even tried to copy the files on a PC (I succeeded) and then brought them on my computer with a USB stick. It didn't work: again, the only relevant files that I could see were the JPG, no trace of any video (but they were indeed on that USB stick!!).
How can I access those video files and use them in Final Cut Pro, or even iMovie??
I'm becoming afraid that i won't be able to use that camera unless I buy a new Mac now!!!

the native iMovie / FC AVCHD codecs are only for Intel Macs, the format is a highly compressed HD format which needs to be unpacked & converted for use.
The powerbook may not be up to editing these files. expect a slow process of exporting & working with the footage.

Help! How can I get my video to show on my website?

I created an interactive book in InDesign CS5.5 and exported the .swf file to my desktop to include all the media (a video) and the interactive page turns. I generated an HTML page and according to this page, http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/827/cpsid_82754.html, there was supposed to be a 'Resources folder' with the video asset in there. However this folder was not created.
When I open the html page in my browser, everything works perfectly.
However, when I went to upoad the html and .swf files to my website, http://www.avantiandg.co.uk/ the last page with the video does not show.
My questions are:
1. How can I access the resources folder that is supposed to be created that I am supposed to upload to my website folder?
2. How can I get the video to load up correctly?

Videos contained in interactive files must be converted to M4V format before being imported to Indesign, AVI, H264 or MPG won't appear once the file exported to SWF.
In HTML the ressource folder is normally next to the root file of your site (index.html) no?
