How can we get a new computer to recognize photo folders on the iPhone so they can be deleted from the iPhone?

My wife has an old Windows Vista computer that is unable to operate the new IOS. I have installed iTunes on my Windows 7 computer and authorized the computer on iTunes. We are unable to delete/recognize photo FOLDERS from her iPhone 4 on my computer within iTunes. The only photos I can pull off her phone are being recognized by the windows system as a camera plug-in from her Camera Roll on the iPhone.

iOS does not operate on the computer.
If she has Vista, she can run iTunes 11 which is needed for iOS 7.

Do you want to delete the photos on the camera or copy them back to the computer?

  • How do I get my "new" computer to recognize my iPhone 4 as a primary device

I used my laptop(Vista) to back-up/update/sync/everything with my iPhone 4 but it recently died. On my desktop PC(Windows 7) I once used it for an iPod which has since been lost. I authorized my desktop, transferred purchases, backed the phone up and even tried restoring but got a message saying there wasn't enough space on my phone to do so. When I do sync, it will not sync any music from my library and keeps what's on the phone there.
I don't neccessarily want to wipe my phone with the chance of losing all my contacts, notes, photos, etc or download some third party software just to sync music because a design flaw. All the music on my phone had been transferred onto my laptop via flashdrive from my desktop.
Is there any simple solution to this?

  • Can I keep photos on my iTouch even after they've been deleted from my Mac?

I sync photos onto my iTouch, but due to limited space on my MacBook I periodically backup then delete all the photos on my Mac. What then happens is that next time I sync my iTouch all the photos that were on my iTouch disappear.
If I uncheck the "sync photos" checkbox, it then deletes all the photos on the iTouch.
I want to be able to put photos on the iTouch and leave them there, and later add new ones. Is this possible?
Is there anyway to keep the old photos on the iTouch even though they've been deleted from my Mac?

No.  The only way to retain them on the iPod after they have been deleted from the computer is to not sync.  YOu also can;t add new one .

I can't get my new computer and my ipod touch to talk so I can update my playlist. They are not recognizing the music from the other device, all of which was purchased on itunes.

    See:

Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup

Then restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

Switch to the Finder app and open its preferences.
Remove the check mark on the items you don't want displayed in the Sidebar tab.

  • HT1386 I have sync an ipad with a new computer and the photos have been transfered into files with no extensions. I can view them on the ipad but canot view and delete from the computer.

I have synced a new computer with the ipad and the photos have been transferred as a file with no exstention. I cannot view them on the computer but can on the ipad.

Well I forget the exact keys, but believe pressing and holding down CTRL before clicking Restore will allow you to browse and find the backup file (may be wrong).
In the end, as far as the iPhone thinks, it is a new computer so it will erase and resync stuff and as long as you loaded everything back into iTunes all should sync back. Main issue is other stuff like the data within the apps, notes, etc that are part of the backup which is why you would want to try to restore from the backup. If you don't mind losing data in apps (eg: do you care you have to relog into some apps and start over, don't care about game scores, etc) then you don't have to worry about the backup. If you have important data in some of those apps then you will need to restore from the backup.

  • I can't get my windows computer to recognize my iPhone 4s.  What should I do?

I have an iPhone 4s that I'm trying to sync with my windows computer but I can't get my computer to recognize the iPhone.  My computer is running with the windows 7 64 bit operating system.  I have the latest version of iTunes as well.  I've followed the troubleshooting guide and still haven't been able to get it to show up.  I've even gone so far as to uninstall all of my apple software and then reinstall iTunes.  Still doesn't work.  I'd appreciate any suggestions that you all might have.

Also, I just realized that I activated/setup the phone using a computer that I no longer have.  When I go into the iPhone's settings>general>iTunes Wi-Fi Sync menu, it says that it will sync with that old computer when it is available?  Can my iPhones only sync with one computer at a time?  If so, what do I do if I no longer have that original computer?

  • Can't get an XP computer to recognize Time Capsule

Okay, I was using a Linksys BEFW11S4 Router with a few computers around the house . . . I am trying my first Mac (MacBook) and thought that the TimeCapsule is one of the most effective NAS devices on the market. . . but I can't get it to work.
I replaced my Linksys with the time capsule, and all is well from this computer (A Dell) which is wired to the time capsule. All is well from my MacBook which is conversing wirelessly with the time capsule (and the internet).
My most important computer (sorry Apple, but it is Windows only software, dual monitors etc.) was using a 802.11b connector and it wouldn't connect. At first I decided to replace the access point and upgraded to an 'n' class radio (or whatever you call them). Still no go.
I need to understand what I am missing and any assistance would be appreciated. The entire infrastructure works correctly for a direct connected PC, and a wireless Mac.
The Wireless PC intermittently connects to the network, but I never get internet access (I did get it once today for about 3 seconds. I have tried refreshing and varying settings, etc. about 200 times).
Overall, I am now in for many hundreds of dollars for 'n' class radios, and a Time Capsule. I need to get this working.
Any advice or assistance? Is this a software problem on the part of Apple?
    Thanks,
    Don.

  • How do I get my new laptop to recognize my home share?  It will not recognize my old laptop

I am having trouble getting my new HP laptop to recognize my itunes "homeshare".   My old laptop sees the new laptop, but my new one doesn't connect with the old laptop.  Any suggestions?

    Follow these steps:
1- Plug your iPhone into your laptop.
    2- Launch iTunes
3- After your device's been recognized, sellect it
4- Then go to the "Summary" tab, on the top of iTunes window just below the apple logo
5- On the "Options" sellec (put a check mark) on the "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected" box
    6- Apply your change
That's it, from now on whenever you plug your iPhone into your laptop, iTunes will start automatically

  • How can I get my iPad2 and my desktop Mac to connect with FaceTime if they are both associated with the same email account?

It seems I should be able to use my iPad to connect with my Mac through facetime if I travel but they both have the same account settings since I am in the cloud.  If I try to connect, I get a busy signal - naturally since I am calling myselt.  Is there a way to get this to work?

You need to associate another email address to one of the devices. Read about it here.
