When I opened my Firefox it went to Crawler instead of my browser. I did not ask for the change or did I download the program.I have been told its one of yours.

I have just got an ipod nano for my daughter. I have successfully done I tunes, I think (it has taken all day), and I have managed to get a cd recorded onto the computer, but how do I get it onto the i-pod? The ipod just says do not disconnect (and has done for the best part of 12 hours now). I have disconnected, because I thought I had the cd on it. but it is still empty. Any ideas very, very welcome. There are different ways to load an iPod, if it is set to update automatically then the will load on without you having to do anything. If you want to be more precise about what goes on then set it to either manual update or to sync a selected playlist. In manual mode you can drag and drop what you want from the library to the iPod. Syncing selected playlists is just like syncing your whole library only on a smaller scale and more "selectively". When your iPod is is set to sync selected playlists it automatically picks up any changes you made to the playlist(s) you have set up in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to the playlist(s) will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync":

I suspect that since your iPod is showing the do not disconnect message that it's probably set to manual update (in automatic mode it disconnects automatically once it is finished syncing). When using an iPod in manual mode the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on the desktop and check this link for alternative methods: Safely Disconnect IPod

Unless you download it there is no way for it to get on your computer.
If you find an uninstaller for it in your Applications folder or in the original media then use it. Otherwise, I recommend:

Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.

If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

What is Silverlight 5.1.31211.0 and how did it get on my computer?

I've checked sllauncher.exe, the registry, various update checker programs, the official Silverlight download page, and the official version history, and they all confirm the following:
[1] The latest version of Silverlight is 5.1.30514.0.
[2] The version of Silverlight on my computer is 5.1.31211.0.
I've been unable to find any official reference to the version I'm apparently running. Should I downgrade, as recommended by the official download page?

Those instructions are, according to Google, still valid, so either you're not entering the command in correctly - they have to be entered in exactly as given - or the software is in your user library folder rather than the system library folder. How did they get Siri so right and yet so very very wrong?

Siri can understand some absolutely amazing things and I am often in awe of the accomplishment. But there are some things that are just mind boggliningly crazy.
I have a friend with an unusual name, "Irfan." I cannot make Siri understand his name. It keeps responding with things like "I cannot understand your Fujin." and some that are even more bizarre than that.
For a short while she seemed to settle on "I Irfan" which couldn't be understood either. But finally it seems to have settled on "your phone." So I thought I would add a phonetic first name to his contact. His name doesn't really sound like "your-phone" but I figured if that is how Siri hears it...
But that hasn't helped either.
Anybody have any idea how to get Siri to understand unusual names?

I suppose access to the log is yet another thing apple removed from their toyland version 6 airport utility.. if so you will need to install 5.6.. which is a bit tricky but can be done.
Download the real utility.. not available for ML so the lion version.

Download install and run unpkg.

Drag the pkg file of airport 5.6 utility over unpkg.. it will unpack it to the desktop in a directory.. AirPortUtility56, drill down, applications, utilities and you will find the actual utility.. drag it to your utilies directory. Now you have a REAL TOOL not a TOY.. Log is under advanced.
Then you will know what is happening instead of living in the darkness.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

You should really read the manual.

They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

You didn't mention which version of OS X your running but there are password reset utilities provided OS X: Changing or resetting an account password (Snow Leopard and earlier) - Apple Support or OS X: Changing or resetting an account password - Apple Support
Alternately you can use an external keyboard to log in and change the password. Make a backup if you don't have one, it's likely that your problems aren't over. If that water continues to migrate downward and fries the logic board your macbook will be toast.

However, an iCloud backup nor sync contains purchased content - that is available for redownload from the iTunes and App stores (so no need to waste iCloud space storing it for you).
So, for purchased content, you will have to download it on each device - just use the same AppleID and download each item on each device.
Without a computer to aid the sync'ing, downloading the purchased content on each device is the only way.
P.S audiobooks cannot be re-downloaded once purchased (all other content can be), so without a computer to save, store and move the audiobook files around, you will only be able to put those on one device - the one you first purchase it on.

If the old laptop was a mac also, then use your Time Machine backup to restore you user settings and files.
