How do I install ITunes on XP so all users share on libary. Hard Disk space is a concern and I don't want every user to have a separate libary.

If you want all the users to have the exact same Library - same contents, same playlists, same ratings, etc. - you can connect everyone's iTunes to the same .itl file as described in this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.

Here's how to share iCal calendars among multiple users on a single Mac.
What you need to do is to move the iCal folder to a shared folder that is accessible to all users and then replace the iCal folder in each user's library folder with a "symbolic link' to the shared iCal folder. The symbolic link looks like an "alias", but if you try this using "aliases" to the shared iCal folder it will not work (trust me). You can create symbolic links using the Terminal, but I have no idea how, and the idea of using the Terminal scares me. The easiest way that I know of to create a symbolic link is with a shareware application called Cocktail. It allows you to do a number of different things including System Maintenance, Network Optimization, etc. It took me a while to remember how to do this; I originally found the information in the Discussions when iCal was first released, but apparently none of those original postings are listed in the forums anymore.
Here's how to do it (you must have Administrator privileges):
First locate your iCal folder (your user name > Library > Application Support > iCal) and make a copy of it (Finder > File > Duplicate). Drag the copy to your Desktop until you're sure iCal is being shared between users.
Next move the original iCal folder into a Shared folder in the Users folder (Hard Disk > Users > Shared > iCal). To make sure all users can access the information, select the Shared folder, choose File > Get Info, click the little Lock icon, then under "Ownership & Permissions -> Details" make sure that the "Owner" is "System", "Group" is "Wheel" and "Access" for Owner, Group and Others is "Read & Write". Do the same with the iCal folder within the Shared folder, but this time, under "Ownership & Permissions -> Details" make sure that the "Owner" is "your user name", "Group" is "Staff" and "Access" for Owner, Group and Others is "Read & Write" and click the "Apply to Enclosed Items" button. I basing this information on what the Ownership & Permissions are for each of the folders in my system.
Open Cocktail (I'm using version 3.6.5). Once the app is open (you must enter an administrator's user name and password) click on the "Files" button, then click on the "Links" button. Where it says "Create Symbolic Link" click on the "Choose" button. Navigate to the iCal folder (Hard Disk > Users > Shared > iCal) and click "Choose" again. In the "Save As" box that appears enter "iCal", then navigate to the Application Support folder in your Home folder (your user name > Library > Application Support) and click "Save". Quit Cocktail and open iCal. You should see all of your calendars as you did before.
Log in under each additional User, move that User's iCal folder (user name > Library > Application Support > iCal) onto the Desktop, then create another Symbolic Link to replace it, using Cocktail as described above. In each case you should see the same calendar information as when you were logged in under your user name. As a test, add a New Event or To Do in iCal under one user, log out and back in under another user and you should see the changes when you open iCal.
Once everything appears to be working, you can delete the iCal folders from each User's Desktop.
As an additional maintenance measure, use Disk Utility to repair Disk Permissions.
Unfortunately, if each User has his/her own calendars in iCal they will not be in the shared calendars. Only the calendars in the first iCal folder used to set up the shared folder will be available and I don't know of any way to merge or combine the other user's calendars into one.

Hi, Is anyone else running into this? If I set a package variable in a pl/sql package through the web service from one client and then connect with another client, I can see the value of the package variable set by the first client. So it appears that instead of being 'stateless', as the documentation claims, that all users are actually connecting to the very same session--and sharing the same memory and variable values.
When I test my application by myself, I don't run into any problems. But the application I'm working on allows over 1000 students to select dorm rooms concurrently. The timing for that large a group is fine enough that I do have more than one person executing the same section of code simultaneously. This is a serious problem! I'm going to try using pragma serially reuseable on my packages to see if that will take care of it.
Has anyone else run into this problem? What do you do about it? Is this an issue with the web service? Or the application server?

How can all users on my laptop use Adobe CC

I'm running Windows 8.1 and recently installed Adobe CC with Photoshop. It seems to work fine when I'm logged in, but when my son or wife are logged in it says it can run because it's already been installed on 2 other computers. Is it possible to run Adobe CC for all users on a laptop or am I limited to only the user that installed it?

My family has several macs with different users. We all have the same contacts and calendars so everyon just logs into the same icloud account. But we would like to be able to use the beta messages and for that matter mail without everyone seeing eachothers mail and messages. Is it possible to set that up using iCloud?

Thanks for the info. I can see that for mail, contacts and calendar. But not for Itunes, Messages, or Photostream. And I can't see it at all on the iPhones or iPads. Am I missing something? (I neglected to mention the other devices)

PSE 5 - We have multiple users sign on to the same PC. The catalog is created on a network drive that all have access to. Photos added to the catalog by one user are not accessible by another user. Is the catalog profile-dependant? Is there some setting I am missing?

The users can open the photos directly in Windows Picture Viewer but, for some users, the catalog looks empty in Photoshop Elements.
1. Verify that each account is indeed loading the same catalog. Do Help > System Info within the PSE Organizer to verify the catalog name and location is identical. Perhaps one or more the accounts is opening another default (empty) catalog.
2. Ensure the Organizer is showing you all the files:
a. In View > Media Types, check all the types.
b. In the Organize pane on the right, check Hidden to see if any of the cataloged photos are marked "hidden".
c. Do Fine > Clear Date Range.
d. If Back To All Photos is showing in the upper right, click it.

I am running Lion 10.7 and there are two users on the iMac.
I would like full read/write access to our share music from either user account.
Currently I have the iTunes Media folder in users/shared and on my account it looks like a regular iTunes and in my preferences I have ticked the 'share' box, but on my wifes account she can see the shared library but the only view available is a simple list.

Try putting it on a removable drive, like a flash drive.

having some trouble setting up our MacBook so my wife and I can access files such as itunes music/libraray (and also photos). We have separate user a/cs (both admins) primarily so we can keep our mail separate, but also so we can choose our own settings in other cases. But we want to both be able to access our music files and photo files. this seems quite laborious, as it's not obvious that there's a default location for shared files nor can I see how to default file info to be read/write for both of us. So having uploaded from backup our old music files and library file to one of my places, I have to manually add my wife and change her access to read/write (incidentally, it doesn't appear that setting everyone to read/write does the trick, so if we want to set up a guest user, then we would have to do the same again if we wanted to let them play our music whilst using our MacBook). Then we she went on it, iTunes set up a new extra and genius library file, so I was blocked from itunes until I went in and changed those files' settings! I don't want to have to keep doing this. Surely there's a better way? any suggestions?

For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
