How do i activate my iPhone when it says there is no sim card installed in the iPhone you are trying to activate?
I just got a new iphone 4 because my old one did work, when i tried activating the new one it give me problems and wont let me do anything on the phone. When i plug it into itunes i get a message there is no sim card installed in this device. Is there anyway i can restore the phone or anything to get it working?
Then something is wrong with the new iPhone 4. Call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store of there is one nearby.

please help
Follow these steps to see if it resolves your issue: (from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4148)
You may also want to contact your carrier for to make sure there isnt a issue with the carrier service.
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Toggle Airplane mode On and Off.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Check for a carrier settings update. Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, a prompt will appear.
Remove the SIM Card and verify that it is a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it is not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
Restore the iPhone.
Hope this helps -
hi
Sounds like the phone was jailbroken or hacked to unlock it. If that's the case, it's now a brick. Buy a new phone.

You cannot active a phone if it does not have a SIM card in it. Period. End of discussion.
If you get this error and it has a SIM card in the phone then either the SIM card is defective or the phone is defective. Get a new SIM card and try again. If the problem occurs with the new SIM card the phone needs to be repaired. -

There is no SIM card installed in the iphone you are attemting to activate
just now i was installed ios 5.0.1 but i canot activate my phone it is showing "There is no SIM card installed in the iphone you are attemting to activate"
i had a problem just like this and i found out it was the sim, cos its hard not to put your finger on it when putting it in the phone. the way i did it was to put it in the holder on the iphone and then clean it while on there and then put it in after a bit O2 gave me a replacement sim and worked well.
If this doesn't work well then i would say go to your apple store http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/
they should be able to run tests on the phone and give you a new one right in the store. if its anything to do with the phone the guys in there will make sure you leave with a working phone, if its down to the sim then they will say go back to O2 and O2 will have to fix the problem cos to apple they would of given you a new iphone.
Note if they give you a new iphone then you have to make sure you give your insurance details of your new phone to them. -
when restoring cannot pass message (There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate.) and there is a active Sim card inside. How can I get Pass that message?
Was your phone locked on a carrier and you unlocked it by jailbreaking ?

please help me < when update my i phone 3G < i finish update but face problem , appear me msg There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone You ar attempting to activate. Please disconnect
Sounds like your phone was hacked to use with your carrier. Updating it has relocked the phone to it's original carrier. You will not get the phone working again without a SIM from the original carrier.

It sounds a lot like your phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it prior to your trying to update it.
If that is the case, it is nowpermanently bricked. -

The iPhone 3G is Not Compatible with iOS 6...
It also appears that your phone may have been Hacked and / or Jailbroken...
If this is the case... you are out of luck... Because...

my iphone is displaying "there is no sim card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate" wn i connect it to itunes, bcoz i hv installed ios5.0.1 for my iphone 3g.can you tel me how to solve dis problem?
I’m having the same issue.
My phone indeed has no SIM card. I kept the 3GS after upgrading to an iPhone 4 and I was simply using it as an iPod Touch.
As far as I had been told, I was perfectly OK to do that and it had been going fro update to update without any issue up to now.
The problem is that iOS 5 requires a new activation, and that this model cannot be activated with a valid SIM. Obivously, I’m not going to take a new line with AT&T ad pay $xxx every month just to be able to activate my previous phone.
I contacted AT&T but they had no clue how to get out of the problem and said it was in Apple’s hands anyway.
I tried restoring 4.3.5 on the phone, but so far I haven’t been successful :-\
I’m open to any suggestion

There is no sim card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate what should i do now
there is no sim card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate what should i do now
I upgraded my i phone 3gs from 4.1 to 6.1.6 then the above problem arisedI too am having this problem. All I want to do is use my iCloud backup of my phone to fix a bug in IOS 7 that loop-prompts me to connect to iTunes. Anyone that has an answer to to OP would be greatly appreciated. There have been almost 3000 views on this page and only 8 posts that aren't much help at all so far. Enough with this 'Do you know how to read' white-space. I'm here for answers!!!
However, I suppose I already have the answer. This is simply another example of Apple using their software to limit consumers of certain demographics (namely, people who have the phone but don't pay for service from a carrier). A SIM card is only required for activation because the software administrator says so; and for no other reason. The hardware is there and its perfectly functional otherwise. I shouldn't even need to activate in the first place. Just restore my freaking phone!! -
Ii'm updating my iphone 3gs but cannot activate it because the message" there is no sim card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate", appeared. I've already disconnected my iphone and reinserted the sim, still nothing happened.help!
this problem startedwhen i tried to restore my i phone to original version ,when i had resoterd it said connect to itunes when i connected to i tunes it said no sim card installed so it cant be activated ,and now am stuck.i cnahged my simcard 3 times!!!
