How do I add vertical text in a cell

How can I add vertical text within a cell. In Ecel it is easy as pie but I can't seem to find a quick fix in "numbers"?

Rotation of text in a table cell is not supported in Numbers.
The most often recommended workarouns is to use a floating text box. Rotate the box 90° (or other desired value), make sure that Wrap is set to 'none', then place the text box in front of the cell.
For other suggestions, see some of the posts in the "more like this" list to the right.
Step 2 is to make a request to Apple that this feature be added. Go to the Numbers menu in Numbers, choose Provide Numbers Feedback (or use the link), make your request that this feature be added to future versions of Numbers.

Barry

    Not very user-friendly IMHO, but ok here goes:
    Place a picture of the band in your body background's CSS
    with repeat:
    no-repeat. Then add a scrolling division to your html page -
    like so:
    <div align="right">
    <div style="font-family:'Verdana', 'Arial', 'Sans-serif';
    font-size:12px;
    color:#FFFFFF; text-align: left; background-color:#000000;
    border:2px solid;
    overflow: auto; padding:10px; width:auto; height:200px;
    border-color:
    #333333;"><h3>Your heading goes
    here</h3><br><br> More text goes

  • How do you add plain text?

    Hi all!
    I have a very simple question, which is just what it says in the subject line of this topic.
    How do I add plain text into iMovie? No fades, no slides, no nothing, just plain text?
    From what I've been searching online, no one has answered this question, but then again, no one has asked it either.
    All I could find was 1 yahoo thread with the question in which the answer was not clear at all.
    I've been trying to find it myself by snooping around in iMovie, but as you might guess, unsuccessfully.
    From snooping around I've come to draw the conclusion that you probably can't add plain text into iMovie via iMovie directly.
    However, and idea I had was, if I create an image in, lets say Paint 2, with whatever plain text I want to add, and then insert it into the project. Will this have the same effect?
    Can anyone please confirm this? I'm going crazy just looking for such a simple feature hehehe.
    Thank you in advance!

    hmm, well ... a video isn't meant for reading (resolution, compression, blabla). ...
    so 'text' in a video should be very large in font, avoid tiny details, too much contrasts ... blabla again
    Advice using the Title-feature as 'text' isn't wrong.
    plus, iMovie is no text-processor, you copy/paste larger amounts of letters into it.
    If you need/want 'a page full of text' in iMovie, indeed you have to do the roundtrip by creating a 'picture' of your text-page, and insert that jpg to your Project.
    The good news:
    if your 'picture (=text page) is longer than the video screen, you can apply a nice Ken Burns effect to 'scroll' through the text ... in case, your audience reads as fast as you.
    bad news: max is 5:1 ratio of the 'page' ... so, no 'books' please ...
    Aside Star Wars ("... in a galaxy far, far away from here"), you should avoid 'text' longer than a usual title.
    (this answer/workaround isn't in the 'canned' replies of our hosts, you should forgive'em ... )

  • How do you add subtitles/text to a video?

    How do you add subtitles/text to a video? Is it even possible? I'm working on a video with interviews and I want to write what they are saying underneath.

    Take a look at the Ticker Tape title.
    Also, you can use any Lower Third title. For subtitles, use the second line of the Title, or set the first line so that the Font size is the same as the second.

  • How do I add multiple text block records from text file?

    The data manager documentation (page 151) for MDM 5.5 SP3 indicates that one or more new text blocks can be added to the Text Blocks object table from files. It is noted that the files must be plain text files.
    I use notepad and create a text file with two lines as follows:
    Test 1
    Test 2
    When I try to add the text blocks following documentation mentioned above, it only adds one record for the Data Group I have chosen and the record contains the entry "Test 1" from the first line in the text file.
    How can I add multiple records to the data group from a file?

    From my testing it appears that you need to have one text file per text block record in Data Manager.
    I wrote VBA macro to so that I could input my text blocks into an Excel spreadsheet and then the macro will take the contents of each cell in a highlighted column and create one text file per cell.
    Then using Data manager, I can select all of the text files at once and it will import them, creating one record per text file.

  • How can I add the text from a Word document to an existing PDF that is my letterhead?

    I have a business letterhead created to a PDF file.  I'd like to add text from letters to this letterhead but do not know how.  Please help.

    Hi tatestar1,
    You would either need to use Acrobat to edit your letterhead PDF, or add the text in whatever application you used to create the letterhead in the first place, and then re-create the PDF. If you have the source file, then the latter may be easier.

  • How do I add circular text to an image?

    I have successfully cropped/masked a circular image, and now need to add circular text around it. How do I accomplish that?

    Christine,
    Basically, you create a circle, then use the Path Type Tool (ClickHold the Type Tool to get to it) and click with it on the circle where you want the typing to start, then start typing.
    You may create the circle independently and place it, or you may open the Group in the Layers palette, then click the Clipping Mask, then Object>Path>Offset Path by the distance you want between the mask and the circle, then drag the new circle up so it gets out of the group.
    You may wish to use the Paragraph palette (which is with the Character palette) to select Align Center and to click the topmost Anchor Point of the circle to have the type symmetrical from the top.
    You may adjust the Type relative to its circle, and thereby its distance from the mask by changing the Baseline Shift (down is negative); it is in the Character Options. You may need to tick Show Options in the flyout.
    Terms are shown when you hover.

  • How do I add alt text to images set as background in my asset list?

    I have designed a site in Muse but for some reason all the images are set as background images in the asset list and I can't optimise them for seo as I can't add alt text.
    How can I change this??
    Thanks

    I know I can't add alt tags to background images hence my question - how do I change them from background images - I was unaware you could assign an image as a background in the first place!
    To my knowledge I haven't intentionally set any of the images as background images.
    I need to change them from background images to 'normal' images.
    Thanks

  • How can I show vertical text?

    Hi all, does any body knows how can I show a vertical text using g2.drawString() method?
    For example:
    g2.drawString("Help", x, y);
    I want the text appear like:
    p
    l
    e
    H
    of course with the correct rotation of each character.
    thanks in advance

    Here's the code we use in the JFreeChart project:
         * A utility method for drawing rotated text.
         * <P>
         * A common rotation is -Math.PI/2 which draws text 'vertically' (with the top of the
         * characters on the left).
         * @param text  the text.
         * @param g2  the graphics device.
         * @param x  the x-coordinate.
         * @param y  the y-coordinate.
         * @param rotation  the clockwise rotation (in radians).
        public static void drawRotatedString(String text, Graphics2D g2,
                                             float x, float y, double rotation) {
            if ((text == null) || (text.equals(""))) {
                return;
            AffineTransform saved = g2.getTransform();
            // apply the rotation...
            AffineTransform rotate = AffineTransform.getRotateInstance(rotation, x, y);
            g2.transform(rotate);
            // workaround for JDC bug ID 4312117 and others...
            TextLayout tl = new TextLayout(text, g2.getFont(), g2.getFontRenderContext());
            tl.draw(g2, x, y);
            // replaces this code...
            //g2.drawString(text, x, y);
            g2.setTransform(saved);
        }That bug workaround is causing trouble in some JDKs, try the original code and see if it works for you.

  • How can I add a text( In CRM 2007 called Note) to the current entity?

    Dear Friends,
    I want to add text type 'SU99' with text 'Hello World' to a CRM transaction, how to do this by BOL? Is there any example component for this issue?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Anders

    Hello Anders,
    here a piece of code where we add a text from type S002 to the Servicerequest:
    lr_bt = lr_bt_adminh->get_related_entity( iv_relation_name = 'BTHeaderTextSet' ).
          lr_bt = lr_bt->create_related_entity( iv_relation_name = 'BTTextHAll' ).
          lr_bt->set_property( iv_attr_name = 'TDID'
                                    iv_value = 'S002').
          lv_conc_lines = 'called Tel.'(003).
          CONCATENATE lv_conc_lines lv_phone_no into lv_text.
          lr_bt->set_property_as_string( iv_attr_name = 'CONC_LINES' iv_value = lv_text ).
          lr_core->modify( ).
    I hope this helps.
    Kind regards

  • Beginner question - how do I do vertical text?

    Hello, Text boxes assume horizontal text is required.  How do I turn the text box on its side so the text runs vertically?  Thanks
    (It must be really obvious, because I cant see the same question being asked, or as a topic in help)  Thanking you in advance.

    Also, just something you should know for positioning objects. For almost any object you can select the object then go to either the 4th or fifth inspector tab, the one with a ruler, and at the bottom it has options for how many degrees to turn the object, or you can flip it, etc.

  • How do I add auto text based on value in numeric field?

    Need help... I'm trying to add auto text to a text field based on a value in a numeric field. I want my text field (summary box) to say "Passed" if the value (score box) is equal to 10 and the field to say "Not Passed" if the value is equal to less than 10. My numeric field is being calculated by selecting drop-down lists.

    Here's a link to the document I created...
    https://files.acrobat.com/?trackingid=KGLIT#folder/c3106c32-2e69-4a5f-8ef2-94d25623dbfb

    I think I figured it out.  I used the following script:
    if(NumericField1.rawValue ==1){TextField1.rawValue = "Did Not Pass"}
    if(NumericField1.rawValue ==2){TextField1.rawValue = "Did Not Pass"}
    if(NumericField1.rawValue ==3){TextField1.rawValue = "Did Not Pass"}
    if(NumericField1.rawValue ==4){TextField1.rawValue = "Did Not Pass"}
    if(NumericField1.rawValue ==5){TextField1.rawValue = "Did Not Pass"}
    if(NumericField1.rawValue ==6){TextField1.rawValue = "Did Not Pass"}
    if(NumericField1.rawValue ==7){TextField1.rawValue = "Did Not Pass"}
    if(NumericField1.rawValue ==8){TextField1.rawValue = "Did Not Pass"}
    if(NumericField1.rawValue ==9){TextField1.rawValue = "Did Not Pass"}
    if(NumericField1.rawValue ==10){TextField1.rawValue = "Passed"}
    There's probably a cleaner way to do the same thing but at least this works for now.  Hope this helps someone else.
