FYI .. Snow Leopard is no longer available from the Apple online store but you can purchase Snow Leopard by calling Apple > 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)

I have not been successful in obtaining the latest version of Snow Leopard so I have the Mac Store app. My computer shows that there are no updates available even though it only shows it running version 10..5.8. I would like to upgrade to Lion. When I download the .dmg updates from the web, they try unsuccessfully to open in Itunes or Quicktime. I can not get them to run. What is my next step?
As noted, in order to update from OS X 10.5.x to OS X 10.6.x you will need to acquire the retail package for OS X 10.6; that initial jump can not be done via download.
The current shipping retail version for OS X 10.6 is 10.6.3. Once you have installed that you can update it to OS X 10.6.8 via the Combo Update - running Software UPdate should be able to fetch that for you. You can also download it directly -

How do I stop the Mac Store App from opening upon startup of my Mac Book Pro? It will not let anything else open and then it stalls when I try to close the window.
Deselect that option and the check mark will disappear.

Hi folks -- i downloaded ML 10.8 from the Mac Store yesterday, and before installing saw the install app in my Applications folder. Following a posting on Macworld.com, I would like to make a DVD backup of the installer, but after restarting from the installation process, the Installer app is gone from the Applications folder, and I cannot find it anywhere... In would like to make that DVD backup in case I have Internet issues and need to do an install.
Do I need to download the installar again (and if I do, do I have to pay for it again), or is it hidden somewhere invisibly on my drive?--

You need to quit the installer and extract from the app package before installing or download again.

I can not download the latest 'free upgrade' for Flash Player. I click on the link, it shows the download option agree, T's & C's, click 'next' it seems to download ok but nothing happens and I have tried at least a dozen times

Why or how can I download the Apple Store App for my windows 8 mobil phone
I want to download the app for apple store to my windows phone, I find it really confusing that my computer which supports windows 7 home premium can download apple store app and my phone with the newer windows software cannot, why and it not why not make sure that it is known before people upgrade or change to the newer phone
You can't. The Apple Store app is for iOS devices and is not available for Windows Phone, nor can any other iOS app run on your Windows Phone. You'll have to use whatever web browser your phone provides if you want to shop the Apple Store. And no, there is no Apple Store app for Windows on a computer either. Perhaps you're thinking of iTunes and the iTunes Store?

I have a late mode IMac 27" running Snow Leopard. I downloaded Mountain Lion from the Apple Store and paid for it. When I trie to install it took me through the first few pages of installation such as agrreeing to terms and the Lion Page showed up asking where I wanted to intall Mountain Lion. The install button was greyed out. I also had a message this disc is used for Time Machine. I had no other disc to choose from. Time Mahine was in the OFF position. I tried hooking up an external drive and tried using it as th Time Machine Backup. That did not work and it also said this disc is used by Time Machine. I have read of several other cases like this but have found no solution other than doinh a complee wipe of the hard drive and doing a reinstall which I really want to avoid if I can.
Look at the root of your hard drive for a folder called Backups.backupdb.
Or, a sparse bundle disk image for one of mobile computers that might have tried to back up to your Mac.
If you have those, remove them and try again. -
Need to download the Apple Store App to my IMAC
I must have deleted the Apple App Store from my early 2009 mac running Mac OS X 10.6.8. The help I got from the online mac guy was to get a good backup and reinstall all my orginial discs which should then put the Apple App Store back on my computer. After reinstalling all programs including Snow Leopard and doing all upgrades I am to run a migration assistant to recover my lost data as this will completely wipe out my computer and I will be reinstalling all pics docs and the last 5 years of stuff on my apple Mac. This seems extreme. I hope someone knows what I can do to get this one program reloaded on my mac. I was hoping to upgrade to the new Mountain Lion but I cannot do the download without the Apple App Store application loaded on the computer.
Try downloading and reinstalling the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 updater. It just may reinstall App Store for you.

Where do you save a movie project for burning DVD's using iDVD?
I recommend that you use SHARE/TO MEDIA BROWSER in Large size. Then in iDVD, you open the Media Browser and navigate to your project. You can drag it into your iDVD project from there.
You can also use SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE and save to the location of your choice. You can then drag and drop into iDVD. -

Once you have v10.6.8 the App Store will be installed automatically.
Three ways to access the App Store.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click App Store.
Or, click the App Store icon in your Dock.
Or launch the App Store from your Applications folder. -
Can't download the Book Proofer app
I'm on the free ebook account, and I can't download the Book Proofer app. Is that the reason, or are there other explanations?
I didn't mean to beat a dead horse, it seems this product is not available for for free ebooks accounts... I hoped that paid ebooks accounts didon't have it either, which would have mean that the app was just being updated

CR2 files from 7D not working in Lightroom.
These files open up in other programs, however, when I try to look at them in LR5 it reads "PREVIEW UNAVAILABLE FOR THIS FILE". These files are CR2 files. Any suggestions?

When I use iBooks in Maverick, why can't I open and read .PDFs as I can on my IOS devices?
