How do I assign a Location from My Places to an Event?

iPhoto 8.1.1
I don't have any GPS data in my photos and am trying to assign it manually, with some difficulty.
I watched the tutorial on the iLife > iPhoto webpage and it appears that when you click on an Event's "i" icon there are supposed to be two tabs in the "Edit My Places" window that results, called "My Places" and "Google Search", respectively. Presumably, one could then click on the "My Places" tab and get your list of places to more rapidly assign known, frequent locations, such as my home, to a given event.
I don't have that. My window, when I click on an Event's "i" and start typing or click in the Places field is called "Add New Place" and there are no tabs so I can scroll through my pre-assigned locations. Additionally, in that field, in the tutorial the popup is called "new place...". In mine it says, "Find on Map". A subtlety, to be sure, but perhaps indicative of the issue? I don't know...
What am I missing? Why don't I have those tabs, and how can I get them? I would really like to expedite the location tagging for my photos and this is really painful at the moment.

Well...okay then!
Next fix...Has you camera had its GPS info turned on? From the video I saw, it takes the GPS info from the camera when/where you took the pic. So my question is, are your pictures showing with a "i" button in the corner? It looks like a picture and event thing.
Next question...since you are adding by hand, and based on no GPS from camera, it would seem that until you have a fair number of places to choose from, you might not have a list to populate with.

Open the weather application. You should see 3 white lines at the right below corner and hit that.
It will show the list of locations. Now just swipe to left on any location and you should find a delete option.

Now I want to know how can I get the location ( I mean the name of the location) through location area code. And one more thing can we get current MNC and current MCC through j2me because I have written a code for getting this information for sony ericsson cells but dont have a handset to try out. How to exempt a storage location from MRP run

Hi all,
How do I exempt a storage location and all its materials from MRP run.
I am creating a new storage location and this should not be considered for MRP and no idoc should be generated if a purchase order or a delivery is created from this storage location( should we stop entering this storage location in BD64 filters or anything more to prevent triggering of the idoc).
Can somebody please through some light on these issues.

You need to set up master data for that material.In Mrp-4 View set storage location indicator as 1(one) .In this case your storage location stock will be exclude from MRP .

How to find database files location (from system flat files)

Hi all,
Is there anyone who could help me to understand the Oracle database starting mechanism. I'm looking the doc for a few days, but it lacks some details...
I'm currently using Oracle 10g on RedHat, and my database has been created using DBCA. While the installation process, DBCA allows to use a customized location for "*all the database files*". I've chosen */data*.
Now, when I'm looking in my /etc/oratab file, I can see: mydb:$ORACLE_HOME:N
I guess the startup process of Oracle reads /etc/oratab (or I didn't understand its utility...) and then goes to $ORACLE_HOME to find the database infos. In this directory, I can see a directory named hostname_mydb/ and dbs/
The dbs/ directory contains my pfile (initmydb.ora) which contains some parameters such as control files, but nothing about the parent directory of my database files, ie:
control_files= /data/oradata/mydb/control01.ctl,....*
but no DB_CREATE_FILE_DEST as I could expect if the db was created through OMF.
The hostname_mydb/ contains nothing but a sysman directory.
I wonder how Oracle process knows where are the .dbf files or the "parent directory of database files" ? Does anyone have a clue?
I know it is possible to ask through sqlplus for .dbf location but I don't think it's the way used for the startup process (or at least, I hope there is another way)

You are right, I have configure an Oracle Enterprise Manager and I didn't notice this directory was related to it...
And as I first thought, many data are in the binary control file. I just thought Oracle was a more simple system :)
You mention an Architecture Guide for DBA, is it the Database Concepts manual mentioned in the first reply or is it another manual (I can't find it, but obviously I have to improve my searching technique...)

Learning how to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
Go to tahiti.oracle.com.
Drill down to your product and version.
BOOKMARK THAT LOCATION
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab you will find the complete documentation library.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what kind of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what kind of information is available there.
Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
Do the same with the Utilities manual.
You don't have to read the above in depth. They are reference manuals. Just get familiar with what is there to be referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
- Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
- Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them (listed in your alert log) in the Reference Manual.
- Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
- When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

How do i permanently remove "locations' from my mac network?

There are lots of answers on how to remove networks, but not "locations"? I know there is an edit bar that allows me to delete those locations, however, even after deleting, when I close and reopen, there they are again. Help! Thanks.

Do a backup.
Quit the application System Preferences.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

How do I open multiple locations from the History after selecting them with Ctrl+click?

Let's say I want to read some of the Mother Jones and Alternet articles I'd linked to from e-mails over the past in two months. I open my Firefox history. I do a search of the history libary to get a list of all the relevant locations. Then I use Control+click to select the few articles I want to read. I'd think Ctrl+O would open all those selected, but it doesn't. There must be a more efficient way than what I'm doing now, which is to open a new tab in the browser window, go to history, double click one line, wait for the page to load; open a new tab, go back to the history search results, click on a new location, wait as it loads, repeat.

Where are you viewing your History? 
Have you tried the History Sidebar? {Ctrl + H} 
You can {Ctrl + Click} the pages you want to open in new Tabs, one at a time. 
Also, if you have your Options > Tabs pref deselected for '''When I open a new tab, switch to it immediately''', it might be less distracting with all those pages opening in the background.

Bouncing - Premiere to Audition to Premiere - How to change default save location from Desktop

When I am bouncing from Premiere to Audition "Edit Clip in Audition", and then apply the effect and save the file, it seems to save the file to the desktop. Is there a way to change this default save location? Can't seem to find it in the preferences.
Didn't even realize it was doing this. Desktop was getting pretty cluttered.

You can paste this command in Terminal
defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSDocumentSaveNewDocumentsToCloud -bool false
Or use Mountain Tweaks - click the Mountain Lion tab & it's the sixth item in the left-hand column.
Both will disable the default iCloud save & still let you have access to iCloud if you want it.

I have a map that moves data from source system into the target system.
I have two locations in the project (PROD_SOURCE and PROD_TARGET).
My map picks the source table from PROD_SOURCE location and inserts into the target table in PROD_TARGET location.
Now, this map can be deployed by changing the source location.
In my map, I want to find out the location and subsequently the source database from which the map was run. This has to be inserted into a table

You can always query the data dictionary in a pre- or post- mapping procedure.
e.g.:
select dep.owner, dep.object_name
FROM PUBLIC_DEPENDENCY pd,
all_objects dep,
all_objects src
where pd.object_id = src.object_id
and pd.referenced_object_id = dep.object_id
and dep.object_Type = 'TABLE'
and src.owner = 'ERS_CTRL3X'
AND src.object_name = 'TEST_MAP'
AND src.object_type = 'PACKAGE BODY'
will give me the listed owner of all tables referenced in this mapping. Knowing the table name, I would have access to the owner name. Now, whether you also will need to query agains all_db_links to see where a given db link is pointing to resolve the owner etc, or all_synonyms to resolve local synonyms to the db_link that they operate against etc I do not know. But tracing the dependancy tree from the current runtime copy of the package will get you to what you need.

How do I delete previous locations from Reminders?

When I want to be reminded of something arriving or leaving a location and I want to specify this location the full list of previously used locations appear. Some of them are now useless (e.g. In country I have left, or an address that has permanently changed). How can I get rid of them?

How can I assign parallel ports from a HP Pintserver

I have two HP printers a 4050 and 8150 series hocked up to a HP printserver. One of the printers is set up in the parellel 3 port and the other in the # 2 port. The HP printserver has an IP address that when I connect my Mac to the network I can detect the printserver and I am able to set up both printers each with their own driver but with the same IP address. When I try to print it does not work. How can specify the ports so that my Mac computer can print to both printers.

If you use the IP printer > HP Jetdirect protocol, you need to know that only port #1 is addressed by that "easy to use" protocol.
To address ports 2 & 3, you need to use the Advanced protocols. Click Add, then hold down the Option key while clicking "More Printers." This reveals a choice Advanced at the bottom of the first pull-down. Select that and then select "Appsocket/Jetdirect."
Complete the URIs like this:
socket://192.168.1.20:9101 (= port #2)
and
socket://192.168.1.20:9102 (= port #3)
(substitute your real IP address for the 192.168.x.x part. the :9101 part is the port number to address the #2 printer port)
