  • URGENT HELP, How do you burn a DVD from Final Cut Pro

This is my first video and I have to have it done by Wednesday, but I dont know how to take the movie from final cut and import to DVD Studio Pro. If anyone can help please let me know as soon as you can. Thanks Zack

    Hi Zack
There are several ways to do it. To keep it simple just export a self contained movie out of FCP then import this into DVDSP. It will do all the encoding in the background for you. The prefered way is to export out of your timeline to Compressor and use one of the DVD-mpeg-2 presets. The preset you use depends on the the length of your project, the quality of the video, etc. Once you get to understand mpegging a bit more you can create your own settings to suit yourself. If you have to be done by tomorrow just keep it simple and get it done - then you can play another day : )
    Good luck

  • Burning a DVD with Final Cut Pro 10 stops at 95%, why ?

Burning a DVD with Final Cut Pro X stops at 95%, why ?

Stops completely? Mine stopped at 95% for quite a few minutes then finished.  This is usually the time in the process where the lead out is being burned and it will not show progress for some time.  If it is taking more than 10 to 15 minutes from that point you may have another problem.

  • Burning a DVD from Final Cut Pro X via Compressor - No audio?

I have attempted to burn a DVD from a Final Cut Pro X project using Compressor, however the result was silent.
I used compressor because my FCPx project is in NTSC and my DVD is for air on Australian TV (PAL).
Image seemed to burn OK however there is no audio.  Can anyone advise what I may have overlooked?
This is the first time I have used Compressor, and I am fairly new to FCP X.
    thanks,
    Geoff

Thanks Russ.  OK, I am now rendering again via Compressor 4, this time I have 2 files in one tab - 1) a MPEG-2 and 2) an AC3 file.  Seems to make sense.
To burn the DVD immediately after, I added a 'Job Action' to 'Create DVD' after the render, and the dialog confuses me.  No problems with the 'Job Action' tab, but the "A/V Attributes" tab indicates the follwing:
Type:  Final Cut Pro.app  (shouldn't this be a reference to the rendered file/s?)
Video - showing the same dimensions of my FCPx Project file (NTSC  ..640 x 480)  instead of the MPEG-2 (Pal ...720 x 576).
Audio - Properties show Linear PCM... 6 channels, etc... not the AC3 file.
My question is, how do I create a DVD from the newly rendered files output from Compressor - is the Job Action the way to do it, and if so, how do I get it to reference the new files?
    Thanks,
    Geoff

  • Burning a DVD from Final Cut Pro X for DVD player

I created my video in Final Cut Pro X 10.1. I then exported it by "Share" to "DVD" and burned it to a Sony VDV+R disc. I needed 6 copies. Some worked when I put it in the DVD player to show on our TV and others said "Can't read disc" even though I followed the same process. What am I doing wrong and how can I export a video to a DVD to show on TV via a projector or DVD player. I am on a MAC OS X (10.9.2)

    Ditto to Gary's comment.

  • Burning a DVD from Final Cut Pro?

Can anyone tell me how to import a Final cut movie into iDVD so I can burn a DVD. When I try it say's the files not compatible. I have to have this done by Wednesday, so I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

    Hi Zachary,
I have FCE, but my directions say:
"To export a QuickTime movie for use in iDVD:
    1. Select a clip of sequence in the Browser or open a sequence in the Timeline.
    2. Make sure to clear all In and Out points in the Timeline by Control-clicking in the Timeline, then choosing Clear In and Out.
    3. Choose File>Export>QuickTime Movie."
After you do this, save the QT movie. Close FC. Launch iDVD, Navigate to the Media tab, select Movies, find you FC QT movie and drag it into your DVD menu screen.
    Hope this is of help.

  • Burn a DVD in Final Cut Pro 5.

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to burn a dvd right out of FCP 5 or do I have to use DVD Studio Pro/other program?

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to burn a dvd right out of FCP 5<<</div>
Sure you can. Connect a DVD recorder via Firewire** to your Mac. Set the input of the DVD recorder to Firewire (aka DV, iLink, IEEE1394). Insert a blank disc, hit record and play back from FCP's Timeline or do a Print-to-Video.
    -DH
** if your DVD recorder doesn't have a Firewire input, you'll need to connect a qualified DV device (camcorder, VTR or converter) via Firewire to your Mac then connect the DV device's analog outputs to the DVD recorder's analog inputs.

  • Trouble burning DVD in Final Cut Pro X (stops at 66%)

I have been trying to burn a DVD on Final Cut Pro 10.1.4, but I find that it always stops the burning process at 66%.  An error does not pop up; it just simply stops at the same place every time.  I have tried burning different projects of different lengths, I have tried updating Final Cut, I've restarted the computer, and multiple other things that I've seen others have said worked for them, but every time it always stops at 66%.  I have been able to burn about 6 or 7 DVDs successfully before this problem started happening, but now I can't get a single one to work.
I seen where some said that this was a common problem in Final Cut when FCP X will hand the job to Create Disc to actually start the burn process, but I don't know how to fix it.
I've tried so many different processes to make it work; could someone please help!

Thank you for the reply!  I've been trying to burn each disk without an image for the menu, but I actually even seen where someone had said just to go into it and add a small picture for the background and then delete it and then hit share and that might get it to work. I've tried doing that multiple times, and it hasn't made a difference.  It still stops at 66%.   I didn't know if there was anything else I could try that might fix it.

When using Final Cut Pro X (iMac mid 2011 model-version 10.1.3) to burn 1 hour movie onto DVD, it seems to render but when computer says 'Sharing to DVD successful' and yet DVD is blank, what's my next move? Burning hardware is working as I burned a project using iMovie afterwards. I filmed a funeral service and family get together afterwards but can't share it with family and friends...plz......suggestions/recommendations/condemnations........

Another update to my burning problem...in my movies folder there is an img file (states it is a classic disk image-2.82GB) after I have tried burning a DVD unsuccessfully and when I open the img file I see 1) AUDIO_TS AND 2) VIDEO_TS files. I 'control' clicked the file and tried burning this folder onto a disc. Result it seemed to burn both files onto DVD but still couldn't view video.

  • How do I burn a dvd using the PAL setting for Europe?

    This is an older answer:
Make a new project in PAL using custom settings. Copy and paste the contents from the NTSC project to the PAL project. Render everything.
Don't do this unless you really need to. If you're making a DVD for Europe you don't need to.
    And my question is:
Why is it not needed to change it to PAL if this DVD is for Europe?
Would it not be best to use a project with PAL SD 720x576 DV Anamorphic  25i  ?
What's the difference between .... x756 DV  and  ... DV Anamorphic
and also completely without this DV and DV Anamorphic?

Re: How do I burn a dvd using the PAL setting?in response to Totti 10Why is it not needed to change it to PAL if this DVD is for Europe?
You don't, unless you want to have PAL resolution. Would it not be best to use a project with PAL SD 720x576 DV Anamorphic  25i  ?
Yes, if you want a PAL resolution DVD. That's why the OP is asking how to make a PAL project. What's the difference between .... x756 DV  and  ... DV Anamorphic
DV is 4:3. DV Anamorphic is 16:9. and also completely without this DV and DV Anamorphic?
Not sure what this means. The DVD specification is the same as DV resolution. If the OP as an HD project that has a frame rate of 23.98, the output resolution will be NTSC DV anamorphic, because DVD only accepts 23.98, 24, or 29.97 frame rates in 720x480, not in the PAL resolution 720x576. That has to be in 25fps.

JUst to add the reason you don't need to make PAL for Europe is because all PAL DVDs can play back NTSC. Unfortunately almost no NTSC players can play back PAL.

  • Is it possible to create DVD Templates with Motion for burning Blue Ray DVDs from Final Cut Pro X?

Is it possible to create DVD Templates with Motion for burning Blue Ray DVDs from Final Cut Pro X?

As far as I know, motion templates can only be used with DVD Studio Pro. FCP X only lets you add a background image to the DVD menu.

  • How do I achieve a high quality PAL SD DVD from Final Cut Pro?

From a PMW-EX1 camera file edited in Final Cut Pro I am unable to produce a high quality PAL SD DVD using compressor and DVD Studio Pro (tried multiple combinations).
Using Final cut pro and Magic iDVD I can achieve a high quality SD DVD with no changes in export. But am limited to the iDVD restrictions.
From discussions it appears using compressor and DVD Studio pro it is not achievable, it is very frustrating that the Apple product you have to buy is not as efficient as the free one?
If not possible then how do I access the encoded file from IDVD?
My Final cut pro sequence settings:
    General - Aspect ratio: HDTV 1080i (16:9) 1920x1080, square and upper(Odd)
Quicktime video settings compressor: xdcam ex 1080i50 (35 mb/s vbr)
    I

iDVD does everything automatically for you. With DVDSP and Compressor, all steps must be done correctly. The trade off is that you achieve better quality using Compressor over iDVD.
    1. First thing to do is export your sequence as an uncompressed interlaced 25i 720 x 576 16x9 Anamorphic QT.
    2. Determine your optimal bitrate by using a bitrate calculator. Here's a good one. Remember you need to account for all video on the disc, including motion menus.
    http://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm
    3. Bring your down converted QT into Compressor and use the manual settings set your bitrate. Also encode out a Dolby digital AC3 file. These files take up less bandwidth than uncompressed audio. Also remember to match your upper fiiled dominate filed order as well in Compressor. This must be consistent throughout the export and encoding stages.
    4. bring your encoded video and audio files into DVDSP and author
