How do I change the audio output to digital optical for my home theater?

It's only using the hdmi for audio on the television..

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unless the Apple TV is broken it always passes audio over the optical output.
Check your sound system is set up correctly, or try changing the Audio out and Dolby Digital settings on the Apple TV (settings > audio & video)

  • How do I change the audio output settings on my MacBook Pro?

I have connected an HDMI cable from my laptop to my HDTV and I can't get the audio to come out of my TV speakers.  Do I need a special cable for this or is there a way in settings to get my laptop/TV to choose which speakers to play out of?

Check the model of your MacBook Pro against the list in this Apple tech note. If yours is new enough, you just need an HDMI cable that supports video and audio. If yours is too old, you'll need to run a separate audio cable to your TV.

How can i change the default application to vlc player for playing any videos on my macbook?

    1. Control click the file you want to open.
    2. Click Get Info.
    3. Under open with, pick the App you want to be default.
    4. Click Change All Button.
    5. Confirm your decision.
You have to do this with every file that has a different extension. You can't change the default for every file with a different extension in a single operation.

  • How do i change the audio sample rate in motion 5?

    Hello,
here's a simple question.  I import 48 Khz audio into the project, but when I go to export the summery says the audios will be exported at 44 Khz. Why is that and how do I export in 48 Khz?
    Thanks!
    Mike

I'll see if I can muddle through this.
According to the documentation, Motion converts everything internally to 44.1kHz 16-bit. There's no way to change this.
To export in 48kHz, you need to quit Motion. From the Finder > Go > Utilities.  Open the Audio MIDI Setup application.  For (all) outputs, set the sample rate(s) to 48.000 kHz (and 2  -  24 bit if available [32bit float might work as well]).  Quit Audio MIDI Setup and restart Motion.
When you go to export from Motion, be aware that the export Summary will still show 44.1kHz (which is thoroughly annoying!), but the exported video will be the audio rate you set in the Setup app:

  • Apple Loops - How do you change the monitoring output?

Anyone know how to change the default output of the Apple Loop player to another output (eg. 5-6), or is this just wishful thinking?

Very easy. Go to the mixer tab, and select the ALL button at the top of that window. You should see a channel strip called Prelisten, usually on audio channel 256. Change that output to whatever, and that will change the monitoring output for loops, the bin, and the Sample Editor.

  • HT4589 How do I change the audio to dual mono from stereo when using Share to DVD in Final Cut 10.1?

How do I switch the audio to Dual Mono from Stereo when using Share in Final Cut Pro 10.1? Even though the audio is all in dual mono in the timeline, it lists it as stereo in the share box.

    Hi rationale1,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The share to DVD settings in Final Cut Pro X use the Dolby Digital settings which are stereo for DVDs. So this can’t be done directly in Final Cut Pro X.
The link below will explain the Dolby Digital parameters and options in Compressor 4.   You may need to research a different DVD authoring software to achieve your desired result.
Dolby Digital - Compressor 4 User Manual
    http://help.apple.com/compressor/mac/4.1/#cpsrb71736a2
    Dolby Digital
The built-in Dolby Digital settings (in the Create Blu-ray and Create DVD destinations, as well as the built-in AC-3 and EC-3 audio settings) use the Dolby Digital transcoding format. This format encodes Dolby Digital (AC-3) and Dolby Digital Plus (EC-3) audio files that contain multiple audio channels, including 5.1 surround sound. You can also create custom settings that use the Dolby Digital transcoding format.
Note:  All files intended for video and audio DVD authoring must have a 48 kHz sample rate as required by the DVD specification.
DVD Video: Choose this option if you’re encoding for use in a DVD video authoring application.
DVD Audio: Choose this option if you’re encoding for use in a DVD audio authoring application.
Tip:  For stereo encoding, rates of 192 kbps and 224 kbps are typical and will produce good results. For Dolby Digital 5.1 encoding, a rate of 384 kbps is recommended. For 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus encoding, a rate of 192 kbps is recommended.
    Cheers,
    Judy

  • How can I change the default fill and stroke colors for new shapes?

As you can see in the following screen recording, after I change the stroke and fill color, all my subsequent rectangles are created respecting these new colors. But then when I delete all the rectangles, choose the rectangle shape tool once again, and start creating new rectangles, they start getting created with another color I had used some time ago (and I don't know how did it become the default color).
    http://tinypic.com/r/64jrwp/6
So how can I change the defaults, so that the fill color is say #ddd, and the shape has no stroke at all?
    Thanks.

When you have the shape tool selected you will see in the tool bar below - file edit etc a fill and stroke. This is where you can change the colours.
You can keep drawing your shapes like you did in the video but then select the rectangle and change the colour from this tool bar. The reason it changes will be because you changed the colours you were using (foreground / background) that display in the left side tool bar.

  • How do I change the number of significant digits in a slide's digital display?

I suspect I'm missing something really obvious. I want the slide's digital display to show 1.23 instead of 1.23456. Here's what I tried:
    1. Drop a Horizontal Pointer Slide
    2. Make its Digital Display visible
    3. Type 1.23456 into that display
    4. Pop up on the Digital Display and select "Display Format..."
    5. Change the number of significant digits to 3 and hit "OK"
The digital display still shows 1.23456. What am I missing?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

LOL - I had the same problem.  Hidden in plain sight!  All I saw was Numeric, and thought "Duh! Of course it's numeric - it's a slider!"
I do think NI could do a much better job on this, perhaps with more informative labelling.  Slider Scaling or Scale Format might be better.  Also, since one can select the Digital Display by itself on the front panel, one should be taken directly to the digital display formatting when Properties is selected, instead of still having to change the dropdown. By selecting the digital display instaead of the slider, you're implying that you want to change its format only.

  • How do i change the background theme color in keynote for ios

Is there a way to change the background color theme in Keynote for iOS? Let's say I start with a Black or White theme, but I want it to be red, consistently on every slide. Is this possible?

The only option I have found is to create a rectangle and make it the size of the screen. Use the Tools to choose the colour you want and copy and paste it onto every slide. If you are starting with a blank slide, then tap the coloured rectangle and choose Lock to make sure it does not move. Then you can add anything you want in terms of photos, text, charts etc on top. If you have already created your slide, create the coloured rectangle on top of everything else and use the Arrange slider to send it to the back of all your pre-existing stuff on the screen. Hope this helps. Remember you can alter the opacity of your coloured rectangle too. I ave also played around with adding two coloured rectangles on top of each other and adjusting the opacity to get just the shade I want - a bit like mixing paint! You can group them together and then Lock them as the background. :)

  • HT1918 How do I change the I-cloud and app password for this device to my husband's existing account?

Can I change the I-tune username and password for this I-pad to the username and password used on my husband's I-pad?

You can log out of the account that is used for purchasing content by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and you can then log back in with a different account  - any content that was downloaded by the currently logged in account will remain tied to that account, so only that account will be able to download updates to its apps.
If you use iTunes Match, automatic downloads or redownload an account's past purchases then you may tie your iPad to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 - so you won't be able to any of those three things on a different account until the 90 days have completed
For iCloud you can remove the existing account via Settings > iCloud > Delete Account

  • How do I change the audio sample rate from 48kHz to 44.1kHz for Mpeg2

    Hey all,
I've been searching for a while but haven't found any direct answers in the forums or the user manual so here goes.
I have to dispatch a file to Bloomberg TV and the file specs they have given me are as follows:
    Video Standard: MPEG-2, MP:ML, 4:2:0
    Frame Rate: PAL 25fps
    Video Size 720 x 405
    Aspect Ratio 16:9
    Audio Standard MPEG-1 Layer 2
MPEG-2 Program Stream Mux rate 6mbs per second
    Bit Rate Type: CBR
    Video Bit Rate 5.7mbs
    Audio Bit Rate 192kbs
    Audio Sample Rate 44.1Khz
Interlacing: Upper Field first (why they want interlaced for web streaming is beyond me)
    GOP Structure: IBBP
    I-Frame distance 12
Now everything above is fine except the audio encoding because even though I have set up a new setting from scratch I cant find anywhere to adjust the audio sample rate. The Inspector tells me the Audio encoder is set to:
    Format: MPEG
    Sample Rate: 48.000kHz
    Channels: 2
    Bits Per Sample: 16
Anyone Know how or even if I can change these audio settings? The only adjustments I can find are the filters or the transport/program stream option. I have it set to program as specified by Bloomberg.
    Thanks in advance
    J

The only setting that I could find in compressor that lets your change the bitrate to 44.1 is when you create a new dolby digital setting and then under the inspectors audio tab/Target System button, change the button to Generic AC-3. When done, you can change the Sample Rate to 44.1.
    Hope this helps?
