How do I change the default Firefox Start Page tab to a tab I want

When I start my FF browser with my chosen homepage, a default tab labeled "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" appears. I would like change that tab permanently from Firefox to Facebook. How do I do that?

Thanks, it worked. I didn't try it before because I thought it would change my original home page, but it didn't. So basically I have two home pages - one as the main page and one as a tab. Thanks again!

How do I change the default color in pages.  Everytime I try to copy and paste a passage, I am unable to do so because it seems that the ink is always white on white.  Sometimes I am lucky and can change it using the color box in the format bar, but it's a rarity when I'm able to do it.

What version of Pages & what version of OS X are you using?
A problem with an early Software Update for Snow Leopard caused a lot of problems. The problem is not whether or not your system is the current version but how it got there. You must use the combo updater, not the one from Software Update unless it specifically states it is the combo. Software Update will only offer the combo if your system is two or more versions behind.
If you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork '09 (or '08 if that's what you're using) folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

  • How do I stop the "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" from loading everytime I start Firefox? My home page is opening AND the (totally useless) 'start page'.

Just installed Firefox on my second Windows machine (running XP Home). Unlike my other installation, every time I start Firefox I get TWO tabs - my home page AND a "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" that contains only a Google search input. I don't need the useless start page, but haven't found anything that tells me how to stop it from loading.

Try This works good for those who aren't computer tech savvy like me
Type about:config in the address bar
Click I'll be careful, I promise if prompted
In the Filter input field type startup
    Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
Delete the text string and click OK
Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!
I just tried this myself and it totally worked for me Good Luck

  • How do I change the default font In Pages 08

When I open a new blank document the Font is Helvica. I want Verdana to be the default. This seems like a dumb question, but I can't see any way to do it. Thanks for any help.

You need to create your own default template. Set up your document with the margins, headers, etc. as you'd like. Redefine all of the paragraph & character styles to have your desired font.
While you're at it, you might want to set default styles for all objects, text boxes, tables, paragraph styles, etc. Start with a blank document & insert an object. Change the color, wrap, etc. to your choosing & then go to Format > Advanced > Define Default Shape Style then delete the object. Repeat with an image/photo, a text box & a table. Now, save this as a template then, in Pages > Preferences, select this template as the default for new documents. All of your new documents will have these settings for inserted objects, images & tables. Unfortunately, the settings won't apply to any other templates or "foreign" documents you open with Pages.

  • How can I change the default behavior for ctrl-Tab?

I tried to change the behavior of ctrl-Tab from 'Next Tab' to 'Previous Tab' and added 'alt-Tab' for 'Next Tab' in Keyconfig so I can navigate in both directions with one hand. It does not change the behavior of ctrl-Tab.
I created both these shortcuts in Keyconfig:
    Next Tab
    gBrowser.mTabContainer.advanceSelectedTab(1,true);
    Previous Tab
    gBrowser.mTabContainer.advanceSelectedTab(-1,true);
I even tried doing this from the command line with the same result:
defaults write org.mozilla.firefox NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add "Next Tab" "~Tab"
defaults write org.mozilla.firefox NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add "Previous Tab" "^Tab"
I'm not sure why this didn't work but maybe "Tab" is the wrong keyword. I couldn't find any documentation on what it should be. Or possibly "Next Tab" and "Previous Tab" don't work in this case because they are not 'built-in' commands. A third possibility is that it won't work because ctrl-Tab is a built-in shortcut but I can't believe that is why. I was able to change cmd-Q to ^-cmd-Q no problem and that is a default OS X shortcut. I was also able to change other built-in functions' shortcuts, just not this one.
So what am I doing wrong? Has anybody been able to change this particular shortcut?

OK I posted a link to this thread on that forum thread but I still think this is general enough that it could be answered in this forum.

  • How can I stop the Mozilla Firefox Start Page from taking over my computer. I have reset the home page a half dozen times.

For the past month, every time I open Firefox, the Mozilla Start Page (with Google in the middle) takes over my home page setting (NY Times). How can I stop this from happening?

To the extent that I could, I tried the above, despite the lack of clarity at times. For example, how do the uninitiated find "sessionstore.js" and "sessionstore.bak" and the Firefox profile folder? Assuming that I eventually find them, what in the world does "check for problems" mean?
There are many of us out here with limited to moderate computer sophistication, and more detailed suggestions would be much appreciated. I am in the moderate to high category, but much of your response was marginally useful, to be kind. Not to say that I don't appreciate what you have written.

  • When I opt to "download this as a file" from my email account, Firefox defaults to notepad to open the file. How can I change the default to MS Word?

    Question
When I opt to "download this as a file" from my email account, Firefox defaults to notepad to open the file. How can I change the default to MS Word?

Is FF downloading the file as a .txt file? If so, go to "Folder Options" in the windows control panel. Click on the "File Types" tab. Scroll down until you reach the TXT file extension. Look to see what that extension opens with (lower part of panel). It probably shows notepad. Click on the <Change> button. Scroll down until you find "Microsoft Word." Select it and click the <OK> button. That should show the TXT extension is now associated with Microsoft Word. Click the <Close> button at the bottom of the panel.
If FF is downloading the file as any other type, use the same process as above except look for the corresponding extension instead. If the extension is not listed click on the <New> button and create an association using the extension in the file name and then associate it with MS Word.

If the program does not open the last folder you visited you most likely have the option enabled to autoload Bridge on Startup.  Either disable that option  in PS or shut Bridge down before you shut off the computer.

If you always want it to start on a specific folder you can leave it on autoload, go to folder you want it to start on then exit Bridge.  It should load this each time in future.  Many of us discourage the autoload option as it can lead to other problems as well.

  • How do I change the default storage file for PDFs?

I want to save PDFs. Now the default files are in AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Temporary Internet Files/Content IE5/V6ZGH08N. I have to drill UP through all those to get to where I want to save the item in PDF Files. How can I change the default?

The file path (AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Temporary Internet Files/Content IE5/V6ZGH08N) that you posted is the internet cache of the MS Internet Explorer and not a location that Firefox uses although MS plugins like the Windows Media Player will use that location.
Files that are opened in an external program will be saved to the temp folder as specified in the %temp% and %tmp% environment variables.
What makes you think that Firefox is saving PDF file in that folder?
Are you using an extension like IE Tab or IE View to open specific locations with IE?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
