How do I configure Guest network to access ethernet wired printer?

I have a wired/wireless network with a new dual band AEBS. The AEBS is connected to a Cisco router, which in turn sends it's connections to various wall-plates in our home. One HP 4110 printer is wired via it's ethernet port, one Mac Mini (OS 10.6.2) is hard wired also. The dual band AEBS 5 GHz network is used for our newer laptops, and the 2.4 GHz network is used for a G3 Firewire PowerBook (now don't make fun... it was the best there was at one time) running OS 10.4.11.
The PowerBook cannot access the printer that is hard wired via ethernet cable to the network. How do I get the PowerBook on the "Guest" network to access the printer?
I tried searching these discussions, but can't find an answer to my specific issue. Any help is appreciated.

Since you have a simultaneous dual-band AEBS, why not connect your PowerBook G3 to the non-Guest 2.4 GHz network created?
Can I take an AEBS that is a couple of years older (I have a couple of the flying saucers around here somewhere), wire that to an available ethernet port on the LAN, and then connect the older PowerBook G3 to that older AEBS wirelessly?
Sure
If so, will that arrangement slow down the entire system?
No
If that won't work, and I connect the PowerBook G3 directly to an ethernet port, will that slow down the other wireless computers?
Yes you can connect your PowerBook G3 via Ethernet. That would have no effect on the wireless computers.

  • How to setup the guest network just access internet only (not touch in internal server)

I had setup the AirPort Extreme in basic and guest network, but observed the guest can access to our server currently, for the security issue, we can setup the guest network to access internet only? pleae advice and thanks

By default, a properly configured Guest network on the AirPort Extreme only allows network clients to access the Internet. No access to the "main" network's resources should be available.
This is assuming that the AirPort Extreme is the only or "main" router in your current network configuration.

  • How-do-i-configure-guest-wifi-access-using-2504-wlc-fortigate-utm-l3-device

    Dear All
I have a 2504 Wireless Controller with multiple radios attached. I currently have a "private" WLAN configured (taking ip from windows server based DHCP of Range 192.1681.0/24 ) and working, but I need to add a Guest/Public WLAN which should take the IP from Other DHCP Configured on Fortigate UTM of range 172.16.0.0/24.
We have one SG300 switch in the office and the rest are basic switches.
    Our firewall/router is a Fortigate UTM 240D
Find the attached network diagram for the issue.
Is there a SIMPLE way to enabling guest access that doesn't require VLANS (or are VLANS easier than I'm making them)?
    Thanks.

Complete these steps in order to configure the devices for this network setup:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wireless-vlan/70937-guest-internal-wlan.html
Configure Dynamic Interfaces on the WLC for the Guest and Internal Users
Create WLANs for the Guest and Internal Users
Configure the Layer 2 Switch Port that Connects to the WLC as Trunk Port

How can I use guest network when my internal server provides the DNS? The help article TS4505 tells me to enter an external DNS server, but I believe I can not configure my network that way...

Apple assumes that you will be connecting the Time Capsule to a simple modem....and.....that the Time Capsule is configured as a router to provide DHCP and NAT services for the network.
The Guest Network cannot be enabled correctly unless the Time Capsule is in charge of DHCP and NAT services on the network.
Another way of saying the same thing is that the Guest Network will not operate correctly if the  Time Capsule is configured in Bridge Mode or DHCP Only.

  • How to set up Guest Network, while Airport Extreme is connected to Satellite Receiver

How to set up Guest Network, while Airport Extreme is connected to Satellite Receiver?

Depending on how you have your AirPort Extreme configured to work with the satellite receiver, it may or may not be possible to enable the Guest Network function.
We will need to check some settings on your Mac or PC, but in order to do that, we need to know what operating system you are using on your computer.
If you have a Mac, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the computer screen, then click About This Mac. Post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.

How do I configure my Airport Extreme to see the printer I have plugged into the USB port?

OK. The 6.0 version no longer has a printer configuration that I could find. You might try Printer Sharing in the Sharing preferences.
I would also check the printer's user manual for help with the setup, and that failing check the manufacturer's website and/or tech support.

  • HOW TO CONFIGURE GUEST NETWORK AND LIMITE BANDWIDTH

    Dear all,
Please help me how to configure internet access rule and limited the bandwidth for guest network via TMG Forefront 2010.
    Thanks you & best regards,
    Hung Viet

    Hi,
First you can create the new network set which is mapped to guest subnet, after that you can create access rule for this network set.
If you want to control bandwidth, you may need 3-party tool like this:http://www.bsplitter.com/

  • Guest network no access

After upgrading to the latest firmware, I cannot access the guest network. When trying to connect from an iphone/ipad/laptop and entering the network password, nothing happens and it keeps on trying to connect... Anybody the same problem? Any solutions?

ok, is there a way to configure the wireless router to *assign* say 10.1.10.50-10.1.10.55 instead of the 192.168.33.xx pool that it wants to use? I could at least then reserve that block on the comcast device. Or since only 5 guests are allowed at a time, map the addresses 192.168.33.1-192.168.33.5 to 10.1.10.51-10.1.10.55? Or maybe add a mac reservation on the comcast device? Any thoughts?
To be clear, DHCP is turned off on the LAN side, not the WAN side (which is why I thnk I'm having the issues)

  • Hi. Does anyone know how to delete my guest network from the list of network choices that everyone in the neighborhood sees when picking a network?  Followed helpful suggestions on this site to delete the netwk but it still appears.  Appreciate any help!

Hi.  I'm trying to make my guest network disappear from the list of network choices that appears to everyone in the neighborhood.  Even though I followed the great suggestions on how to delete the network, it's still appearing in the list that everyone sees.  It has my name and would prefer to get rid of it.
    Please help!  Many thanks!

Thank you for not only the tip but also especially the research showing that for anybody other that those using Wi-Fi for the first time the network wouldn't disappear.  I wanted it to disappear for everyone so.....I finally solved it by resetting the Airport Extreme to the factory settings and starting over from scratch!  It worked! Yay!!!!!
So, for everyone that has had this problem (and I've read many of the same complaints in different places on the Internet), you must go into Airport Utility and check the box stating that you want to reset it to the factory settings.  Do not do it with a paper clip and the reset button on the box; I tried that first and it did not work.  You must reset it via the Airport Utility.  Then just start over and you will have the choice to NOT check the box to Enable Guests.  If you want to enable guests, just be sure not to use your name or you're back to the same problem. Apple is so great with everything...wouldn't it have been so easy for them to just put this in the manual somewhere?????  Thanks for all your help.    Hope this helps others!

  • How to setup a guest network when the dialogue boxes do not show up in AirPort Utility 6.1

How do I setup a guest network when the dialogue boxes do not show up in AirPort Utility 6.1?
I see screenshots where there are boxes to 'enable' guest network but these simply do not apear on the Wireless tab in AirPort Utility

I now have a guest account, thanks to you!
I did the factory reset and was able to set up the guest account.
There were 3 problems, all of which I was able to solve.
The first problem was connect to Ethernet, which I selected by WAN port, as shown in the first screen shot. This page used to read just Ethernet and the Bridge Mode.
The second problem was whether to share a range of addresses or share a public IP address. I selected share a public IP address as shown in the first screen shot. I had tried the range of IP addresses in my earlier attempts, the ones that failed. Hopefully this will have no effect.
I have forgotten what the third problem was - only excuse is a few too many flavored drinks. I didn't have any problems solving it though.
What is really weird is I can log on to Guest and use on my iPad (first generation), my wife's iPod Touch (third generation), and my wife's 2011 MacBook Pro. I can't log onto Guest on my 2008 iMac, even after a restart. I get the image below.
Since I don't lug my iMac around a lot and it is connected by Ethernet, while my little make it right brain says figure this out, I am not going to worry about it.
Thank you again for your time and patience in helping me solve this.

  • Trying to use HPLJ 1102w as a wired network printer. How do you configure the network settings?

I have an HPLJ 1102W and I want to use it as a wired printer on my LAN. The trouble is, the easy setup utility is geared toward wireless networking and the ethernet interface will not get a DHCP address from the LAN. In order to get an IP address, I have to go through the wireless networking configuration settings. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to use this printer as a wired network printer?
    thanks,

    Hi,
The HP LaserJet P1102w provide USB or wireless network interface only.
the product do not include any ethernet card, as you may also find by its spesification System Requirements below:

  • Guest Network & WAN access ... Why?

Just bought a TC. Everything works great. 5Ghz network, regular 2.4 Ghz network, but the guest network has me a little nervous. It functions however if you are on it and load up Airport Utility, you have full access to the TC.
I want to use Setup Over WAN for use on the regular networks but I don't want Guests to have access... Am I doing something wrong or is this a case of "It's just the way it is"?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the discussions, dw1985!
but the guest network has me a little nervous.
We had a chance to test out the Guest network feature recently when my sister was visiting and using her MacBook to connect to the "Guest" network here.
She could only connect to the Internet and was not able to "see" any of the other devices on the main network, such as other computers, Time Capsule, etc.
Since you are taking bandwidth away from the main network when you enable the guest network, you might want to turn the "guest" network on only when you have "guests".
I did not test the setup over WAN, so can't comment on that but would point out that when you do this, you are connecting to the Time Capsule from a remote location over the Internet. If you don't need this capability, you might want to disable that function.

  • Configure guest network

I am trying to get my new extreme set up and enable a guest network , but it just wont work . Anybody have any tips

    Let's review things again.
The AirPort Extreme needs to be connected to a simple modem for the Guest Network to function correctly.
    You have a modem/router....not a simple modem.
If the AirPort Extreme is not in Bridge Mode.....you are trying to run two routers on the same network, which you should not do. Sometimes, you can get away with running two routers on a simple home network, but it can create some unpredictable results and limit or not allow some features....like a Guest Network.
The simplest fix is to replace your modem/router with a simple modem. The Guest Network feature will work correctly if you decide to do this, assuming that the AirPort Extreme does not have a hardware issue.
If you do not want to change to a simple modem, then all that I can suggest is that you try a Factory Default Reset to clear out all of the old settings and try to configure the AirPort again.
I really doubt that this will help your issue, but I do not have a Motorola 6850 to be able to test things. It is as far as I can tell...based on the online specifications.....a basic modem/router.
If I am wrong about this, other users are always quick to point out an error.

  • How to setup a guest network on an airport extreme?

I just bought the new airport extreme and I havent been able to find the prompt that allows me to create a guest wifi network.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Javier Vazquez

I just bought the new airport extreme and I havent been able to find the prompt that allows me to create a guest wifi network.
The article that hanuolaohu posted is interesting, but it never tells you that the AirPort Extreme must be connected to a simple modem to allow the Guest Network feature to be enabled.
If you have a "gateway" or "modem/router" device, this acts as another router on the network....not as a simple modem...so the Guest Network tab will not appear when you try to setup the device.
So, first we need to check on the device that you call your "modem". What is the make and model number of this device?

  • TS1819 Mac OS X 10.7.4. How do I configure my network settings so I don't have to enter the password to my wireless router every time I start up or come back from sleep mode?

When I first got my MacBook Pro my wireless network at home (Linksys Wireless Router) popped right up and I entered the password and had no problems automatically connected after that. My questions is what caused this to happen and how do I reconfigure my network settings so that I don't have to re-enter my password all the time?
