How do i connect time capsule to MacBook w/out an internet connection???

is there a way to connect to the time capsule without using an internet connection???...i need to transfer files to the time capsule hard drive

can you tell me what i would need to do to get it connected then???...i have been trying by using the Airport Utility and i cannot get it set up to where i can just drag the files into the Hard Drive...

I'm not sure if you understand that 5 GHz has some upsides, but also some very significant downsides.
The upside is that the 5 GHz signal will allow faster speeds.
The downside is that you must always give up something in order to gain something else.Unfortunately, the marketing hype about 5 GHz does not go into very many details about this.
In the case of 5 GHz, the 5 GHz signals are much weaker than 2.4 GHz signals, so they do not travel as far or penetrate any obstructions like walls or ceilings nearly as well as 2.4 GHz signals. In many cases, in order to get good 5 Ghz performance, you literally have to have almost a line-of-sight relationship between your computer and the wireless router.
If you have a new dual band router, which broadcasts both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signal simutaneously, your Mac will connect to the best signal quality automatically depending on its location in relation to the router. In the same room, without any obstructions, it will connec to 5 GHz. But, take the laptop down the hall a few rooms and around the corner and the Mac will connect to the 2.4 GHz signal because at that location, the 2.4 GHz signal is not only stronger, it is also faster.

If you decide to do this, the simplest way to accomplish your goal would be to download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion
Perform a Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule to get it back to default settings using this Apple support document:
Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ
Then open AirPort Utility 5.6 and click Continue to follow the guided setup to "Create a wireless network".
You will need to click "ignore" for messages that you see telling you that you do not have an Ethernet cable connected to the WAN port and also that you do not have an Internet connection.

The easiest and sure way is to use bridge on the TC as the method of connection. The TC then becomes a device in your network and gets its IP from the main router that I presume BT supply.
Method is,
1. Plug the TC WAN port into the BT supplied modem by ethernet.
2. Plug the computer you are using for the setup into the TC by ethernet.
3. Run the airport utility .. go to internet tab on the top menu..
In the bottom option, Connection Sharing choose off (bridged mode)
4. Go to the wireless page and setup wireless connection as you like it.. using whichever band you want. And make sure security is set to the highest setting, wpa2 personal. Put in a decent wireless passkey.
5. Press the update and fix whatever else the TC will show as needing fixing.. usually security stuff.
6. You can then disconnect the ethernet and connect by wireless if you want. Any port on the TC will now be a LAN port, including WAN.
This is assuming BT supply a wireless router with built in vdsl/other type of modem. If so you normally will not be able to bridge the modem, unless BT are using pppoe authentication which they haven't in the past.
If you really need to use the TC as a router then you will need to work out an alternative method. You can double NAT by placing the TC in the DMZ of the BT router if that is an option. It is not without issues in general.

I haven't been able to figure out how to use my Time Capsule as my main router, currently it's connected to my old router and isn't doing much as I'm still getting internet from my old, not as good router. The Time Capsule doesn't have an ADSL port which is why I've found it difficult to do this and even when connected to the other router I'm still receiving internet from that one and not the Time Capsule.

Time Machine automatically checks the backups on the disk. It does a quick check (a few seconds) before every backup, and periodically (every month, I think) does a much more thorough check.
You can do that yourself, by holding the Alt/Option key while selecting the TM icon in your menubar, and selecting Verify Backups. That may take quite a while, if you have a lot of data. I'd recommend connecting via Ethernet, as it will still be slow, but 2-3 times faster than WIFI.

It is a backup target for Time Machine.. that is the software on the computer that does backups.. it has no direct connection to the Time Capsule.
It has no ability to back itself up.. unlike all other NAS in the market. It is therefore likely one day you will lose all your files unless you seriously work out how to backup.
The TC is slow to spin up the hard disk and fast to spin down. iTunes and iPhoto will continually lose connection to their respective libraries.
iPhoto in particular is easy to corrupt when you move photos over wireless into the library.. once corrupted all is corrupt. A single photo will ruin it all.. so backup is utterly essential.
Time Machine cannot do backups of network drives. ie the TC. You will need a different backup software like CCC. You will then need another target to backup to..

My time capsule won't accept/recognize an internet connection

I've verified my modem is providing an internet signal, when I plug my MacBook Pro into the modem, I'm able to access the internet just fine. However, when plug my time capsule into the modem using the Internet WAN Port, my Airport utility says that the Time Capsule is not connected to the internet. I've tried using the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule, with it plugged in and I've even tried holding the reset button in while plugging the Time Capsule power in. Help me please?

TM does not work like that.
If you want files to use later.. do not use TM.
Or do not use TM to the same location. Plug a USB drive into the computer and use that as the target for the permanent backup.
