How do I convert apple works 6 docs to open in 10.7

I have a MacBook pro running 10.7. I have many docs created in AW 6 that will no longer open. I tried opening the WP with Pages and the spread sheets with Numbers, but I get a message that "This document was created with an unsupported version of Apple works." I can't open any of the drawing docs at all. What should I do short of firing up my old Mac Mini and saving them all as .doc or .xls versions.
Thanks, Ed

Another option: Run Appleworks 6 in Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) installed into Parallels in Lion:

I have 2? How do I sync selected photos from my IPad to my IMac w/o losing all photos on my IPad which will be replaced with the photos on my IMac.You see I have two IMacs with different sets of photos. Also want to convert all Apple works docs to pages docs on my IMac. Is there and app available to do the former. many thanks. b

The iPad and related software is designed to sync with only one computer. I suggest transferring the photos from one of your iMacs to the other so that all photos are on one Mac. Same for all other files you want to sync over.
To get those AppleWorks files to the iPad you'll have to determine if Pages will open them. If it will then use the file sharing feature of iTunes to copy them to Pages on your pad.
If Pages will not open the AppleWorks files directly you'll have to save them in some format that Pages will read. These include but may not be limited to Pages and Word formats.

How do I convert a WORD doc to pdf

Easiest way if you have Word installed: from Word's File menu, do "Save as..." and you will find a pdf option in the "Format" pull-down:
The example is from Office:Mac 2008; should be similar in Office 2011.

How do I convert old work done with iMovie HD 6 to view and work with in iMovie 11 on my new iMac?

If you still have your iMovie 6 project, you can import it using FILE/IMPORT/iMovieHD Project.
If all you have is the finished movie, you can FILE/IMPORT MOVIE.
If your movie is in DV Stream format, it is advisable to convert it to QuickTime MOV container containing DV codec. Otherwise, the import will be chronological by the date and time the clip was shot, rather than in edited order.

  • Can't open Apple Works docs in Pages

Strange, but: The 1st day I used Pages I could open Apple Works and Word docs
just fine. The 2nd day trying to open Apple Works docs resulted in
the message: "Import Error- the Apple Works document has an unsupported file type"
Word docs still open OK. Anyone?

To save as a "newer" AppleWorks file (i.e. AppleWorks 6 file format), you'll need to have AppleWorks 6, which will open older file formats from version 5 and then give you the option to save the as version 6 files.
However, your friend will not be able to open these AppleWorks files with Pages: as Peggy and others have pointed out on numerous occasions, Pages can only open AppleWorks word processing files (and even in this case, there are restrictions; as far as I can remember, it will only open documents with floating graphics. Or was it the other way round, and it cannot open files with floating graphics? If I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me, Peggy); it can't open spreadsheet files as iWork '05 doesn't have a spreadsheet program which could handle the data. I'd suggest finding someone who has AppleWorks 6 (anyone with a Mac mini, iMac or eMac), opening the files and saving them in a format which Excel can read.

How does the Convert Command Work Under the Catalogue Manager?

My suggestion would be that you download the pdf version of the organizer help file:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/elements-organizer_reference.pdf
Start with page 57 for catalogs.
I am sure you'll have a better understanding of backup/restore and converting when you understand what a catalog is.
Please come back with your questions afterward .

  • How do i email apple works 6.2.9 spreadsheets, how do i email apple works 6.2.9 spreadsheets

How do i email appleworks 6.2.9 spreadsheets in a PDF tupw format without getting a jumble of text?

If you have the iWork application Numbers you can open and use AW 6.2.9 spread sheets and save in this format. Or you can export the ss opened in Numbers as PDF, Excel, or CSV. I don't know about Excel or CSV but the PDF is a fixed picture and will not allow functions.
I have just tested a newly created AW 6.2.9 SS doc with my G4 PowerBook (OS X 10.5.8). I opened and saved the new AW 6.2.9 SS in iWork 09 Numbers native format then emailed this to myself. I opened the email with my MacBook Pro (MId 2010 OS X 10.7.4,) and saved the SS Doc to the desktop. It opened with a double click in  iWork 09 Numbers and was fully functional.
What I have done with my Claris Works and Apple Works ss docs is convert all to numbers which maintains the ability to alter and copy the data. Getting the Claris Works docs converted required an older version of Apple works that will read them and allow the saves to be read by v6.2.9.

  • Apple Works doc printing on HP Printer

I am working with a Mac OS X 10.5.7 and I am having trouble printing a document created in Apple Works 6 on an HP printer. The doc works fine but the bottom margin is far too high and a line at the bottom gets cut off. I have changed the "document" set up to reduce the lower margin to 0 but no help. Do I need to upgrade my printer (HP PSC 1510 All-in-One)? Any other ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Most ink jet printers, especially HP, have a minimum of 0.56 inches for the bottom margin. There is nothing you can do about it. You'll have to set your margins to accommodate this.
Although I don't think it's related, HP printers have a long history of not "playing nice" with AppleWorks & Pages. The most important thing to do is check HP's web site to make sure you have the latest printer driver for your model.

  • How do i convert docx to doc in Office 2004

I'm trying to convert word docx files to doc in office 2004.  All I get is a message indicating too little memory or disc space available.

DOCX is the format used by the newer versions of Microsoft Word.  Word (Office) 2004 can't open it.  You need to open it in Word 2011 on the Mac, or Word 2007 or Word 2010 on the PC, then Save As to the older DOC format.  If you do not have access to a newer version of Word, then have the person who gave you the doc, resave and resend it to you.
You can also try LibreOffice or OpenOffice.  (Both are free.)  The current versions of both have limited support for opening DOCX files.

  • How can I convert multiple .pdf doc's to .pdf/a doc's

I need to convert multiple .pdf documents to .pdf/a documents in a batch mode, instead of one at a time.  Is there a way to do this in Adobe XI Pro or another Adobe product?

You can use Acrobat XI Pro. Create an Action to make use of the appropriate "convert to..." Preflight (for PDF/A there are several).
    Be well...
