How do I copy an iCal exchange account from one mac to another?

I mean, it's working on one mac, but I can't see how, through System Preferences:Internet Accounts, to get the account and server info displayed.
I'm also not finding the relevant file in ~/Library.

  • Can anyone tell me how to save a project in i-movie from one Mac to another? Thanks

Can anyone tell me how to save a project from one Mac to another I can save and copy 'events', but the 'projects' won't open, thanks

    Hi
iMovie'08 - NO - Projects can not be moved - As far as I know
You need iMovie'09 or 11 where both Events and Projects can be moved.
DO NOT move or alter any folder named
    • iMovie Projects - or -
    • iMovie Events
on DeskTop/Finder - Else they will not work and in some cases it is un-repairable !
Moving has to be done inside iMovie Application.
AND You need an in between storage eg an external hard disk and here are an IMPORTANT MUST
    • it MUST BE Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange will not work FOR VIDEO
    • Should be a FireWire one - As USB/USB2 performs badly especially when filling up and when editing HD-video.

  • How do you move Compressor 3.05 settings from one Mac to another?

How do you move settings from one Mac to another?
I have Compressor 3.05 installed on two Intel Macs: a MacPro tower and a MacBook Aluminum. I created a new setting on the MacBook, and can see it in Library -> App Support -> Compressor as "<name>.setting" Then I moved to the Mac Pro for speed and created a few more settings. I copied these settings from the Mac Pro libary and put them in the MacBook library; restarted Compressor on the MacBook but still cannot see those presets from within Compressor. I hate to re-create all those settings, but I do move between both computers depending on what I am doing.
    What am I missing? Thanks.

    To copy single settings.
    1. Drag & Drop your setting from the Compressor Settings window to i.e. the desktop
    2. Copy .setting file to an other Mac
    3. Drag & Drop the .setting file(s) over to the Settings window in Compressor
    To copy settings groups (folders)
    1. Go to */Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Compressor*
    2. Copy the settings group folder you want to your i.e. the desktop
    3. Make sure Compressor is not open on the other Mac
    4. Copy the settings group folder to the same location on the other Mac
    5. Open Compressor
    Hope this helps

  • How to copy a user account from one Mac to another

If I have a main user (admin) account on one Mac, and want to copy its Home Folder over to another Mac that already has user accounts on it, what is the best way to do it?
For example, if I boot the source Mac in Target Disk Mode then connect it to the other Mac, can I just drag and drop from its Users folder into the Users folder on the other Mac? And would that then appear in SysPref/Accounts, complete with names and passwords etc, or is it not that simple?
(Actually, I just checked by launching Migration Assistant, and it seems to indicate I can use it to copy User Accounts from a different Mac - is this all I need? How would I connect the two Macs for this to work?)

Slightly confusing, that article - it talks about using Migration Assistant in Lion or Mountain Lion, but in my case both computers have used Snow Leopard. Does it still apply?
(One other observation - don't you find it confusing the way Apple defines "Target Disk Mode"? It's pretty much always the case that a computer booted in this way becomes the Source computer, while the Target computer is the one it's connected to!!)

  • How do I copy and paste vector art from one layer to another, keeping all of its attributes?

When I copy a vector shape from one layer to another, the shape picks up the color attributes of an existing shape in the second layer (or sometimes only the outline of the shape appears). What to I do to avoid this from happening (I just just want to paste the shape in its original form and color)?

OK - I guess this is a little more difficult than I imagined...
Merge Layers rasterizes all the vector shapes - I want all the shapes to stay as vectors in the second (pasted) layer.
Merge Shapes changes the color of the copied vector shape - I don't want to change the color
Shape Layer via Copy [Ctrl] +[J] copies the layer containing the vector shape, but doesn't paste it into the second layer
Any other ideas? Or, is it possible that PhotoShop doesn't support varied colored vector shapes on the same layer? I am coming from an InDesign background, and there was no issue having many different (colored) vector objects on the same layer.

  • How can I transfer a copy of Acrobat Pro 9 from one Mac to another?

Is there a way to pull the license information from the Mac with Acrobat 9 Pro to use for installing on the new Macbook Air?

  • I need to MERGE a same named user account from one mac to another.

I am  a neophyte in the Mac World, seeking to move al of my son's material from hid old MacBook to a MacBook Pro that has a fresh install of Snow Leopard. I set up his user account on the MacBook Pro during the installation process. The user account on the Book has an identical name. He has used the Pro for two weeks. The need is to MERGE the accounts' information, NOT: 1) Renaming the user account to be transferred (THAT MIGHT MAKE HIM SCHIZOPHRENIC); 2) Replacing the existing user account with the one you are transferring (THAT WOULD MAKE HIM LOOSE TWO WEEKS OF HIS LIFE); or 3) Do not transfer this user account (WHICH WOULD MAKE HIM LOOSE TWO YEARS OF HIS LIFE), as these are the only options available (all unacceptable) via Migration Assistant using a Time Machine backup. If it is material, I made a backup of the Book before and after upgrading it to Snow Leopard. I attempting to migrate from the post-update backup. I'm tempted to try Ethernet migration, but suspect I will be faced with this same dilemma. I have reviewed other posts on this subject, and hope there is a better solution than putting the old User Account into the public folder of the Pro and then moving data into the new User Account.
Express Lane is closed down for the day, so this is my first experience in a discussion group. Anyone have any suggestions?

As long as the two accounts share the same username the solution is fairly simple with minor exceptions. On the new machine connect the backup drive you used. With the immediate exception of email, calendars, and contacts you can just drag the desired files from the backup drive onto the new computer putting them in their appropriate folders on the new computer - this would be the various folders in the /Home/ folder.
For email: Mac OS X Mail- How to import email
For iCal and Address Book it would be easiest to stay with the most recent data and copy these folders:
    /Home/Library/Calendars/
    /Home/Library/Applications Support/AddressBook/
Copy these folders to the equivalent locations on the new computer. Then you also need to copy:
    /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.addressbook.plist
    /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.addressbook.abd.plist
    /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ical.plist
into the appropriate folder on the new computer.

  • How do I move control of my ATV from one Mac to another in the same house?

Ok I understand that but my ATV only appears in the left control column of one iMac and not the other. Not the one I want to control it with.

  • HT201250 Can I copy a time machine backup from one mac to another?

I have two Mac Book Pros that I use for work - I have one at home and one at work. I'd like to copy the contents and setup from my work Mac to my home Mac using a time machine backup, and then continue to use the time machine backup back at work. I.e. the time machine would only be used with the home Mac to copy over the contents and setup of my work Mac.
Can I just do a straight time machine back up in my 2nd (home) mac, or will this override the back up I have from the 1st (work) machine?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course. Note that you can restore a Time Machine backup on all the Macs you want, always that the Mac uses the same or a newer OS X version than the one that had the Mac you used to make this backup.
Also, you can back up different computers to the same Time Machine drive. In this case, Time Machine will create different folders in your Time Machine drive for each computer, so one Mac backup won't conflict with the other computer backup.
To restore a backup, use Migration Assistant. Just connect the Time Machine drive, open Migration Assistant (it's in /Applications/Utilities) and follow the steps to restore the backup onto the computer

  • Copying an Iphoto Album&Project from one Mac to another

I have Iphoto 08 on both a macbook running 10.4.11 and IMAC running 10.5.1.
I was using the macbook to download and store all pictures until I got the IMAC.
I copied the Iphoto library to an external harddrive that is now attached to the IMAC and am accessing that library(option) key when launching Iphoto.
I was traveling with the laptop taking and downloading a lot more photos, while my wife was creating some albums and calender projects on the IMAC.
Now that I'm back I want to bring the new events from the laptop on to the IMAC or save the albums and projects on to the laptop so I can reback up the entire photo library (~18,000) photos. Is there an easy way to copy an album/project from one iphoto library to another or would it be simpler to copy new events?

You can do this best and most easily with iPhoto Library Manager

  • How do I copy effects (crop, movement, etc) from one clip to another?

I have adjusted one clip of footage  in my "timeline" to be a certain size, etc and I want to apply those same effects to a bunch of clips in the timeline. How do I do that? One use to just copy the clip and paste properties but I can't find how to do that in FCPX.
    Thanks for any help

Thot I'd pop back over here after happening upon the Cmd-Opt-C keystroke which is defined in FCPX Help as "copy selected effects".
This implies that instead of the old way (Copy with Cmd-C, then select attributes with the Paste Attributes (Opt-V) command), one makes the effects choices up front -- using cmd-opt-C, and then pastes them using the Cmd-Opt-V keystroke.
However, I see no difference between using Cmd-C and using Cmd-Opt-C.  The Cmd-Opt-V keystroke still ends up pasting all attributes/effects.
Guess I'll go bring this to their attention.

  • How can i transfer my itunes account from one mac to another?

I would like to transfer my itune library from my work computer to my home computer including apps that have nbeen downloaded..
    Any help?

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.
