How do I copy and paste text from a pdf file and paste it into a new pdf or word file?

I have a very large pdf file (500 pages) comprised of 200 letters. How do I copy individual letters (copy and paste sections of the file) and put them in a new pdf or word file?

When you open your PDF file a yellow bar will appear on the top of the screen.
Click on 'Enable All Features'.
Then you will be able to copy the content from your pdf and to paste in any of the file.

There's nothing to export.
The iTunesLibrary.itl file contains all the settings, playlists, and playcounts.
Copy or backup all your important files including the ENTIRE iTunes folder, then restore all your data including the ENTIRE iTunes folder once the system is formatted and rebuilt/reloaded.

I did a COPY of some text from a web page, and then did a PASTE into notepad.exe (Windows). The text from each line was duplicated -- on the line! Instead of "Fred", it became "Fred Fred".

I just recently installed Firefox for the first time. It seems nice and quick. The version is reported as: "10.0.1".
I wanted to save some text from a web page, so navigated to that page, selected the text, and pressed the Control-C combination to COPY the selected text to the buffer. For example, the text I selected looked something like this:
Harry
Ron
Hermione
Hagrid
Albus
NOTE: Each line of text has a small icon to the left of the text.
It is not reasonable to COPY and PASTE each line individually, as there can be hundreds of lines of data. I recall, however, that
doing a COPY and PASTE on this data into Microsoft's Excel will produce cells which have the icons included in the cell, but unfortunately one cannot can't get rid of them! At least I've never found a way to remove them, but that's another issue. :)
Once I'd done the COPY operation I switched to a Notepad window and did a PASTE operation. To my surprise, the text from each line was duplicated. It looked like this:
Harry Harry
Ron Ron
Hermione Hermione
Hagrid Hagrid
Albus Albus
Thinking that there might be something unusual about the web page I looked at the source, but it appeared "normal" -- that is, as expected.
Note: I have done this operation several times before, and have never seen this occur before.
Note: In the actual data some of the lines have quoted text in them. Curiously there is weird behavior on these lines. In some cases the entire line is shown only once. (These occur at the top of the line, and the quoted text is at the beginning of the name.)
When quoted text appears "later" in the name, in some cases the quoted text is duplicated, and in other cases the quoted text is missing altogether! I have also noticed an error with the quoted text, and so will be reporting that to the web site which generates the HTML.
Note that each line of "text" is "anchor text", so if I click on a name the browser navigates to a page for that name.
I believe that the problem is that the COPY operating in Firefox is not simply copying the visible text, but also the ALT=
Below is a sample of what the source HTML looks like:

To make sure I wasn't imaging this difference I repeated the process within Internet Explorer. In that browser I did not get duplicated data.

I am in graduate school and am working on an assignment that requires that I use two different 'templates,' or tables, to analyze data. Instead of filling them in separately and saving as multiple documents, I have created an assignment document with my header. I want to copy the tables from the two 'template' documents and paste them both to my assignment document. I've tried highlighting the table in the template document, clicking copy, and then pasting in my assignment document. Nothing is pasted.
What am I doing wrong?

Are you sure you have the Table selected and not a cell or just contents?

It's not the copy that 'removes' formatting, it's the paste that pastes without.
Text can exist on the clipboard in any number of internal formats. It's possible to copy InDesign formatted text and paste it into a plain text editor -- so you won't get the formatting. But if you paste the same text again in InDesign, the formatting is still there.
When copying, it's the responsibility of the copying program to put its copyable content in any useful format onto the global Clipboard.
When pasting, a program should go through the list of supplied data formats (regardless of the source) and pick whatever it thinks is best. So, apparently, the usual Paste picks up InDesign "Native objects", while "Paste w/o Formatting" uses the plain (unformatted) text form.
The only way to get an unformatted copy on the pasteboard would be to copy the string contents (raw ASCII characters) instead -- but InDesign's Javascript does not allow this. The app.copy() command only works on native InDesign objects.
So, long story short, what you need can't be done.

I have searched high and low for a way to copy and paste text from a web site in Chrome using the Xperia z3v. I've tried a long tap, a double tap, a triple tap - nothing works. I am able to select text, copy and paste it in a Word doc, however. There must be some way to do this on a web site in Chrome. I'm certain I am not trying to select text that is really an image. Hi DG.
The easiest way to copy an HP Photo Creations project to another computer is to click the Share button. That will upload the project to the Web and give you a link you can paste into an email. Clicking the link on the other computer allows you to download the project and personalize it. This quick video shows the process. (The screen looks slightly different now, but the concept is the same.)
Another way to share a project is copy the project folder to a thumb drive. Look in Documents/HP Photo Creations/My Things to find your saved projects.

I created one in text edit and replaced mozilla.org with 4entertainmentjobs.com, but it still didn't work. Today I tried to go back and put Mozilla back in, but I still cannot get it to work. I am just about giving up! I have upgraded Pages to 0.9 4.3. Now when i copy text from an incoming email and paste it it pastes in as an Object and I can't work on it.

I am just about giving up! I have upgraded Pages to 0.9 (4.3). Now when I copy text from an incoming email and paste it into Pages it pastes in as an Object and I can't work on it. It has a border round it and corner markers. I have never had this problem before. I have looked at every conceivable thing but cannot find how to get rid of this Object and just paste in the wanted text. If I fiddle and fiddle within this text I can eventually get a cursor and work on the text - but how on earth can I get rid of the surrounding box?
I don't know if this is at all clear but I can't think of any other way to describe this - but it looks like this in Pages with corner and top, bottom and side markers.

Peter hello - I have been copying and pasting for as long as I can remember and it has NEVER done this before - so why now!? Anyway, Jerry has told me about Paste and Match Style --- yet another new thing!
I have also discovered that I don''t need to hold down Option when I go to Save to get Save As - I can hold down 4 keys (shift, option, command and S) and it will bring up Save As!!

How do you cut and paste text from Adobe Reader 11 into Word?

Using Windows 8.1. Recently purchased Adobe Reader 11. Need to cut and paste text from PDF into Word docs. Docs are not locked and content should be available for editing. Have figured out how to highlight the text through the Comment tools, but nothing (right-clicking, going to Edit pulldown) menu gives me a Copy option. How do I cut and paste the text?

Good to know that I got what I paid for with the Export PDF.I just went
into the document that I am trying to cut and paste from and highlighted a
piece of text. Clicked right, checked the Edit pulldown, and then did
Ctrl+C (assuming you meant Ctrl and then C, rather than holding them both
down together). Still no Copy option anywhere.
Properties for the document I am trying to work with do say "Content
Copying: Allowed" under Security. Since I can highlight text, I assumed
that the text is there (not a photo scan) so that I can copy it. Should I
look somewhere else under properties to confirm this?
As I did last night, I also opened up a document that I have cut and pasted
extensively from before-so I know the text is there and manipulable.
Attempted to cut and paste from it, using the same methods above. Again,
no option to copy with any of them.
Perhaps I should clarify that by cut-and-paste, I do mean that I want to
copy the text from the original and then transfer it to a Word doc that I
am writing. I am not trying to do anything with the original other than
copy from it--not cutting anything out of the document itself.
Is there a way to do this with the Adobe 11 reader. At this point, I am
wondering if I need to uninstall Adobe 11 and try to go back to Adobe 10 or
whatever the reader was that was installed on my computer when I bought it
(Dell Inspiron touch-screen laptop purchased in May 2013, if that gives any
idea of which reader might have been installed there. That version did,
however, have some other limitations that made me want to get Adobe 11. Any
ideas about what to do now.

Here's a little gotcha. Let's say you've color corrected a few clips and you've applied an effect to one and want to paste it the other clips. You switch off color correction and copy the clip. You select the other clips and paste effects. What do you think happens? The effect is applied, but the color correction is applied as well, only it's switched off as it was in the first clip, so all the color correction on the other clips is lost. Fun, eh?

Preview - Cannot copy and paste text from pdf

Hi there ...
I usually have no problem copying and pasting text from a pdf using Preview ...
However .. I recently received a pdf ... and there is no way it will highlight the text to copy ...
The older pdf's are not affected ...
I did a get info on the pdf ... it's not locked ... and it was made by Adobe In Design CS2
I tried opening it with Adobe Reader 9 ...... but still no luck
IN my search .. I noticed one other person had the same problem ... but he didn't get any responses..

If it's behind something else then you can open it in Illustrator and select the specific object you want. If it's rasterized then no.
If this is a document you can share with the world then I'm sure we could tell you what specifically is going on if you posted it here.
