How do i delete a thousand pictures from my ipad that were imported from CF card?

I carried my ipad on trip instead of my laptop, used the ipad to store photos as i filled up my camera's cards.  worked well.  have copied them all the my HD and an external back-up drive.  but, there's seems to be no way to bulk delete all those photos (45GB worth) from the ipad.  i tried creating an album, putting all the photos in there and deleting the album... doesn't delete the photos, just to pointers to them for that album.  The only way it seems to be able to delete is one picture at a time, and there's over 2800 pics.. I've tried unchecking all the 'synch' folder in Iphoto but that doesn't removed the ones on the ipad that were imported there w/o using Iphoto... i've added and updated a lot of things to my ipad since i took those pics and don't want to do a restore. (which would also mean revert to IOS4)  Any suggestions would be most welcome
TIA

  • How do you delete only certain pictures from the photo library on the iphone 5?

I just purchased an iphone 5. I would like to know how you delete only certain pictures from the photo library. You can delete from camera roll, but not photo library!! There are duplicate pics and ones that I don't even want on my phone.

Your photo library is a complete list of all photos on your phone, including the camera roll and any albums you've created.
Therefore it will always duplicate photos in your camera roll.
The images are simply links, not additional copies of the photo

  • How do I delete videos and pictures from the iphone folder called "phone"?

If I go to albums in the pictures app I have a folder called "phone". I want to clear up some space and delete pictures and videos from there, but there is no option "delete". These pictures are not in the icloud, but seem to be stored on the phone itself. I tried to access this folder through itunes and iphoto, but still n possibility to delete them. is there any way to delete those without flattening the whole thing?
    Thanks!

It is synced you have to have the computer to do it.

  • How do i delete photos from my iPad that were imported from a camera

On a recent vacation, I backed up some 1,100 photos onto my iPad each day.  Now that I'm home, I've imported the photos into Aperture (or iPhoto) from the camera and no longer need the photos on the iPad.
I can't find a way to delete them except:
    one-by-one.  VERY time consuming
importing them into a photo app again, selecting remove photos, then deleting the new redundant photos from the phot app
There must be a better way...

  • HT1296 How to delete photos on iPad that were imported from computer

I have photos on my ipad that I think were imported from my laptop when syncing thru I Tunes
How to delete them from my photos in I Pad?

If photos were synced from your computer then they can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need remove/de-select them from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

  • How do i delete all my pictures from iphone

I need to delete photos from iPhone 5.  Need to delete them ALL as I need space on the phone and I don't want to individually click 1000+ pix. They are already backed up to Dropbox. There appears to be no way to do this. Any suggestions (other than switching to android, which may be next for me)?

If following all of the instructions in the support document that I provided you did not help you in getting the iPhone to be recognized in iTunes, then you will need to remove and reinstall iTunes per this support document. Follow the instructions exactly, or it will just cause more problems. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
However, do not do the removal if you have not followed ALL of the instructions in the previous document. Most get hung up around step 5, but that is usually the most important one to resolve this issue.
As far as doing anything with the photos, you can delete the contents of the DCIM folder and that will delete the photos. In the future, check the configuration of your photo import utility in Windows. You can chose to delete the photos after importing them, so you don't end up with so many on the phone to deal with. You do have the ability to delete photos on the phone itself, just not so large a group as you indicate. It is set up for a lot smaller list of housecleaning.

  • HT1688 How do I delete all my pictures from my new phone?  IPhone 5S

Help, have a ton of pics on my iphone 5s and I can't delete them and they are taking up all my space.

If they were taken with the device, simply delete them via the Photos app.
If they were synced to the device via iTunes on the computer, remove them via iTunes on the computer.

How do you delete pictures on your iphone that were downloaded from your computer or memory card?

There is NO other way to get photos off your phone, that were synced to your phone, other than through the iTunes sync process. Just make sure there are no checks, in any boxes, for any photos, that you do not want on your phone.

I have an iMac ...I would like to delete 70,000 pictures from my iphoto 11 trash but it kept crashing ...what to do?
    Thank you & ShineOn!

Best guess on this point, though my suggestions may be shot down to the very last ...
If Terence Devlin says I am an idiot, then I will have learned somwthing from his counter-points.
Your HDD may be running low on free space, at least enough free space to process 70K photos in a single shot (an entire library, all associated as one).
You need to see how much free space vs total disk capacity is left.
Then check the size of the files you are trying to "empty trach".  If those two numbers are too close, you may need to try some gymnastics.
If you have not used CarbonCopyClone, you may want to get an external drive that is 2x your internal drive.  If you have room enough, download (for free) CarbonCopyClone or SuperDuper (your call, both equally good).  Make a clone of yuor drive onto this external single-partition drive, which should have more than enough free space without shutting down.  You do this by booting holding the "option key" so that all operations are now on the external disk.
Then you can clone this external clone back with an empty trash.  Then be more careful about how large the "trash gets", by disassociating bulks such as iPhoto.
This may be an overly dramatic approach and there may be ther ways to bypass "empty trash" usage of system resources.   But nothing is destructive on your original disk until the last step of cloning back, and you have a new way of making an "emergency crash" bootable disk if even that does not work.  I DO run with a CCC external bootable, by the way, so the "if nothing else" effect has value.

How do I delete photos of iPhone from my computer? No PC with me

You mean photos that were transferred from the PC to the iPhone?  You can't delete them directly on the device, not without erasing everything off the device.  You'd have to sync the device with iTunes again, and choose to have no pictures synced.
