Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

Some of those are part of the backup, for example photos, app data and settings and much more:

If you still have the backup from the time before you updated, use it to restore from.
Download the apps again for free before you start, apps are not part of the backup data made by iTunes.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Those apps should also be part of your iTunes library on the computer you usually sync to.

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. Does music show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone and the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes for redownloading ? Whether music will show there will depend upon what country that you are in - and even if music does show it will also depend upon whether it's still in your country's store.

Can't transfer all of my music from my old iPod Touch to my new one?

Recently I purchased a new iPod Touch to replace my well-used, three-year-old one.
I would like to remove the music from my old iPod to the iTunes library on the computer, and then sync it on to my new iPod.
Most of the music I wanted to transfer was already in the library, so that was easy to do. However, I have roughly 20 songs that are not in my iTunes library, but are on my old iPod. I have tried and tried to get them into the library to transfer them, but I can't do it.
Is this even possible? How would I go about doing it?

Are these songs ones you purchased from the iTunes Store? If so, the "Transfer purchases from iPod" command under the File menu in iTunes should work. Have you tried that?

I'm trying to delete all songs and data from the hard drive to see if that will fix the problem, however, it will not appear in my itunes. I've tried various ways to help it appear in my itunes but I do not want to delete my itunes because I have another ipod that has all those songs on it.
I was wondering if there was a way to restore my ipod back to the beginning without having to go through itunes. Thanks!

It might, but I wouldn't bet much on it. Either way, give it a shot.
Otherwise, if appears in Windows an external hard disk, try a low level reformat of the device's hard drive. See here for instructions on how to do this.

My new-ish MBP has a Firewire port, but it's not the old-style one you might be familiar with. Look at the ports for the Firewire symbol (looks like a Y). You will need an adapter to connect an old-style Firewire cable to it. (Yeah, I know there are names for them and "old-style" isn't one of them, but they slip my mind at the moment.)
Alternately, since you should be backing up anyway, do a full backup from the old machine and then import from the backup on the new one. See my Mac Backup Guide* ASAP if you aren't currently backing up!

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is structured around you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, matching the device content to the content on the computer. The exception is purchased content.

If you followed these steps to uninstall Parallels (you simply drag Parallels to the Trash), that's all. Parallels is a quite clean application that does not create a lot of files in different folders.
However, you may still have the virtual machines you created in Documents folder. If you want to remove them, open a Finder window, select Documents in the sidebar and remove the Parallels folder
